APEDA Associate (Northeast Region) Recruitment 2026 — MBA Eligibility, New Delhi Posting, ₹80,000–₹1,05,000 Monthly Remuneration and Email Application

Advertisement: APEDA-PAD/65/2026-PRNL | Issued: 5 November 2026 | One notified contractual position | Last submission: 18 November 2026, 5:00 PM

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), operating under India's Department of Commerce, has invited applications for one Associate (Northeast Region). The description of the position is easy to misread. “Northeast Region” identifies the work focus; the advertised place of posting is APEDA Head Office, New Delhi. The notice does not announce Guwahati, Agartala, Imphal or another northeastern city as the initial office. The appointment is contractual, initially one year including a three-week probation period, with possible annual extensions based on performance but no extension beyond three years.

This vacancy is aimed at a professional with a named MBA specialisation and at least three years of experience in a related field, rather than at every graduate or every MBA holder. Its more distinctive preferences are exposure to training and capacity building, work with startups and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and organising events. These are desirable rather than substitutes for the two essential criteria.

Written examinationNot prescribed in this advertisement

The advertisement supplies no separate opening date for application acceptance and no application fee amount. Neither should be guessed. Similarly, the one notified vacancy is not accompanied by a category-wise reservation breakdown; no unreserved/reserved allocation can be presumed.

1. The actual opportunity: agricultural exports, not a generic office MBA post

APEDA is India's statutory export-development authority for agricultural and processed food products. Its functions include export-market development, helping exporters meet standards, promotional activity, training and strengthening market access. APEDA's own background in the advertisement specifically highlights produce quality, shelf life, sanitary and phytosanitary requirements (SPS) and technical barriers to trade (TBT) as practical obstacles to overseas market access. The official APEDA About Us page identifies exporter registration, standards, marketing and training among the authority's functions.

Why does this matter to an applicant? The job is associated with a region whose producer organisations, exporters and market-access needs may be very different from a single Delhi desk function. The published notice does not give a detailed daily job description, name specific commodities to be managed, or allocate individual northeastern states. Candidates should therefore not treat any commodity list, state-wise quota, export target or travel frequency as an announced job duty. It is nevertheless sensible to understand how a farm or producer group connects to quality-assured domestic aggregation, export documentation, buyers and international-market access. That is a preparation framework arising from APEDA's mandate—not an undisclosed official syllabus.

APEDA's official Farmer Connect initiative illustrates the policy setting: producer organisations and exporters are connected so that production, aggregation and market opportunities can meet. It is a helpful source for an applicant to understand what “engagement with FPOs” can mean in an agricultural-export institution. The present vacancy does not specifically guarantee an assignment to that initiative.

Northeast designation versus Delhi posting

The vacancy table on page 1 records the place of posting unequivocally as New Delhi. Page 2 permits travel to any place in India when APEDA requires it. These are different clauses. A person living in the Northeast should plan around a Delhi office position unless APEDA itself issues a different posting instruction; at the same time, someone already in Delhi should not assume the job excludes field visits. Domestic tour TA/DA is pegged to the admissible level for Central Government Pay Level 10, but that travel benchmark does not make the Associate a regular Level-10 employee.

2. One vacancy — read the qualification precisely

PositionVacanciesDepartmental locationRecruitment type
Associate (Northeast Region)1APEDA Head Office, New DelhiFixed-period contract
Total1

The competent authority reserves the right to increase or decrease the notified number of positions. No post-specific numerical code, women-only reservation, northeastern-domicile quota or category division is printed in the vacancy table. A single undivided opening is not a useful pie chart, because no genuine component categories have been notified.

The four acceptable MBA specialisations

The essential educational requirement is an MBA in any one of the four named fields:

Named MBA specialisationRelationship to the stated opportunity
Agribusiness ManagementDirectly relates business management to agricultural value chains and producer organisations
MarketingRelates to market development, outreach and buyer-facing export promotion
International BusinessRelates to overseas market access, trade and cross-border business practices
EntrepreneurshipRelates to entrepreneurial ecosystems, startups and enterprise development

The second column explains relevance for career evaluation; it is not an extra equivalence ruling by APEDA. The notice does not expressly recognise an unrestricted general MBA, a PGDM in place of MBA, a degree in agricultural science without MBA, or every other commerce postgraduate qualification. An applicant relying on a differently named programme needs authoritative confirmation of equivalence rather than an assumption based on overlapping subjects. There is no advertised minimum MBA percentage, so a 50%, 55% or 60% threshold must not be added.

Experience is a separate, mandatory gate: at least three years in a related field. The attached form, especially page 6, asks for post-qualification work experience, naming the employer, precise period (from/to), total years and months, designation, and nature of work/responsibilities. A career summary saying merely “3 years of experience” is much less persuasive than a dated employer certificate establishing what work was actually carried out. Applicants should make the relevance of each period explicit and avoid counting overlapping employments twice. The notice does not state that a particular company, government cadre or job title is compulsory.

Desirable qualifications are evidence of suitability, not automatic eligibility

The authority expresses three preferences: (1) training/capacity-building experience, (2) engagement with startups or FPOs, and (3) conducting events. Each can be demonstrated through documented past assignments—for example, programmes organised, producer-group engagement, stakeholder workshops or event coordination. These examples are ways to describe genuine work; they are not additional official compulsory conditions or a published marking formula. A strong desirable profile cannot override the named MBA plus relevant three-year experience requirement.

3. 📊 Salary range: interpret the numbers without inventing an offer

📊 APEDA Associate — notified monthly remuneration boundaries

Published remuneration boundaryMonthly amount (INR)
Lower end of notified range80000
Upper end of notified range105000

The notified monthly remuneration is ₹80,000 to ₹1,05,000. The two bars show bounds of one published range, not the salary for two separate employees or an automatic annual progression. The difference between the upper and lower limits is ₹25,000 per month, an arithmetic comparison, not a promised increment. APEDA states the remuneration is inclusive of all applicable taxes, with no other facility or allowance under the ordinary remuneration clause. The advertisement does not publish a formula assigning different amounts by MBA specialisation, years of experience or interview marks. The actual negotiated or sanctioned amount within the stated range is not specified in the notice.

The notice's heading mentions “Annual Enhancement”, but its operative paragraph provides no numerical yearly increment rate or guaranteed increase. It would therefore be wrong to project a fixed 5%/10% hike or three-year salary schedule. Similarly, Pay Level 10 on page 2 belongs to admissible travel TA/DA while on official tour, not to the contractual salary, pension entitlement or pay matrix for the post.

4. Age: 50 is the ceiling; reference date is not supplied

The document sets an upper age limit of 50 years. It does not specify whether this is assessed on the publication date, the application deadline, a particular January date or another date. Candidates near that threshold should establish the applicable reckoning date directly with APEDA instead of calculating from an invented cut-off. No minimum age, category-based relaxation table or separate age concession is given in this advertisement. It is especially important not to paste age concessions from unrelated APEDA Group-A recruitments into this one-year contract notice.

5. Contract structure and the real trade-offs

The first year is not a three-year appointment

The initial engagement lasts one year, and its first three weeks are probation. APEDA may consider an extension from year to year based on performance evaluation. After three years no further extension is permissible under any circumstances, according to section 2.3. The notice supplies neither an automatic renewal right nor a guaranteed three-year term. The period begins from the date of joining, not automatically on the advertisement date.

📊 APEDA Associate — initial and maximum contract duration in months

Contract-duration referenceMonths
Initial contractual term12
Absolute maximum after approved annual renewals36

Both values express the same unit — calendar months. The 36-month bar is a conditional upper limit, not an appointment offer for three years. Each renewal depends on the authority's year-by-year performance evaluation; the first year already includes the three-week probation period. The chart must not be read as a 24-month extension being automatically granted.

Notice periods and conduct-related termination are different

For ordinary termination by the department, 30 days' notice or pay in lieu is stated; the Associate can likewise resign with a similar notice/pay condition. Separately, sections 7.2 and 8.5 allow termination for serious performance or conduct failures, including circumstances where APEDA judges the services unsatisfactory or in conflict with its interests, without the ordinary notice period or compensation in the specified case. A prospective candidate should distinguish the standard notice clause from these adverse-conduct provisions rather than assume that every separation necessarily includes a paid month.

No promise of a later permanent post

The contract is not regular APEDA service. The document expressly denies an entitlement to subsequent appointment or employment with APEDA or another government department on the strength of this contract. There is also no stated retirement pension or standard cadre promotion arrangement.

6. Working day, leave, official tours and safeguards

TermWhat the original notice actually says
Normal office day9:00 AM–5:30 PM, including a half-hour lunch break
Longer hoursLate duty, Saturdays, Sundays or holidays may be needed for work exigencies
Annual paid leave20 days in one year, pro rata, requiring prior written approval
Leave carry-forwardUnused leave cannot be carried into the next year
Leave without remunerationUp to one month may be considered with prior controlling-officer approval; exceptional relaxation needs appropriate approval
Maternity leaveA female Associate may be eligible as provided by the applicable Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017
Official travelCan be required anywhere in India; admissible travel TA/DA uses Central Government Pay Level-10 rules
Medical and police checkPolice verification report and authorised practitioner medical-cum-fitness certificate before engagement
ConfidentialityOfficial Secrets Act / restriction on unauthorised disclosure of APEDA information

These are real contractual conditions, not extras inferred from regular government recruitment practice. A frequent misconception is to treat the travel-allowance benchmark as a salary-related perk. The advertised ₹80,000–₹1,05,000 is the monthly remuneration range, while TA/DA arises only in the separately notified official-tour context. Another practical distinction: the 20 days are allocated on a pro-rata basis over the contract, so they should not be taken as a lump-sum leave balance on the first day.

7. 📧 Exactly how the application must be submitted

The operative application method is email, not an online registration portal. The advertisement provides a prescribed form on pages 5–6. A correctly completed applicant package consists of a typed and signed application in that format, an updated scanned CV and self-attested copies of relevant supporting documents. Send it to recruitment@apeda.gov.in, ensuring the exact position “Associate (Northeast Region)” is clearly mentioned. The document does not demand submission through a third-party hiring website and does not specify an online payment link.

Form-by-form checklist before sending

  1. Enter full name, father/husband name, permanent and correspondence addresses, contact number, functioning email and date of birth as requested; attach self-attested age proof.
  2. State nationality and provide accurate MBA university/board name, passing year, one of the four specified subjects and marks/CGPA; attach self-attested educational proof.
  3. Complete the post-qualification work-experience table: employer and location, employment start/end dates, calculated years and months, designation, nature of work and responsibilities. Attach self-attested experience certificates.
  4. Provide languages known with proficiency, any relevant professional information and the recent passport-size photograph indicated on the form.
  5. Sign and date the application. Include the scanned CV and every referenced self-attested attachment so the application is substantive rather than an unsigned statement of interest.
  6. Send one application only. Section 3.2 warns that more than one application may lead to rejection.
  7. Send so that the application reaches the specified official email by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, 18 November 2026. There is no separate officially published grace period, upload window after the deadline or alternative postal receipt deadline.

A descriptive email subject such as “Application — Associate (Northeast Region) — APEDA-PAD/65/2026-PRNL” is a sensible way to satisfy the instruction to mention the applied-for position. This is a practical suggestion, not a compulsory exact subject line supplied in the notice. Applicants should retain their sent email and attachments for their own records, but the advertisement does not promise an acknowledgement email.

Application fee: the six-page advertisement specifies no amount and no fee-payment procedure. This is not a basis for writing a fictitious ₹0-fee schedule or borrowing fees from another APEDA vacancy.

8. Selection: shortlisting and interview, not a notified written examination

Page 4 states that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by email for interview. APEDA has not printed any multiple-choice test, descriptive paper, cut-off marks, negative-marking rule, interview scoring scale, interview venue/date or guarantee that every eligible applicant will be interviewed. Submission alone does not establish any right to an interview. False statements and non-compliance can result in cancellation at any stage.

The reasonable candidate journey is: prescribed application received → eligibility/document review → shortlisted candidates contacted by email → interview, if called → verification and engagement formalities for a selected candidate. The exact administrative sequence after an interview is not prescribed in a dated selection timetable. A separate interview preparation section follows in the linked selection guide; it organises the knowledge most relevant to the listed MBA fields and desired FPO/startup/event experience without misrepresenting those preparation topics as an APEDA-issued written syllabus.

9. Interview-readiness themes tied to APEDA's actual work

An applicant can do more than memorise a generic definition of agribusiness. APEDA's source materials give three substantial areas to prepare, even though it has not announced a formal interview syllabus:

A. From production to an export-ready consignment. Understand where a producer collective, packhouse, product quality, shelf life, traceability and standards enter the chain. Be able to describe business bottlenecks without inventing a commodity target for Northeast operations. APEDA's About Us gives the institutional mandate.

B. FPOs, startups and capacity building. Consider how to identify a producer group's needs, design a training workshop, coordinate participants and evaluate whether learning translated into market links. The official Farmer Connect programme is a concrete illustration of why producer–exporter engagement matters. Again, no formal work assignment to that programme is announced for this vacancy.

C. Marketing and international-market access. Be ready to explain the difference between finding potential buyers and satisfying the conditions that enable compliant trade, including SPS and technical barriers mentioned on page 1. If the applicant claims international-business exposure, he or she should cite genuine work, results and limitations rather than invented export volumes.

These themes help an applicant connect the MBA specialisation and three years' relevant experience to APEDA's stated mission. They do not establish interview question counts, interview marks or compulsory trade-law case studies.

10. Interview, selection and joining: what remains unannounced

No interview date, venue or candidate list was provided in the 5 November 2026 notice. It would be misleading to label a future date as “scheduled” or to publish an expected call letter, answer key, written examination or result as if released. In contrast, the following are genuine existing instructions: contact by email for shortlisted candidates, proof of essential MBA/experience, and police and medical fitness clearances before engagement.

A successful candidate must also understand the information-confidentiality obligations and other conduct standards in sections 8.3–8.7. APEDA says information and records encountered in the role remain its property; the Associate must not use the APEDA name, emblem or seal for personal commercial advantage without written permission. The contract is a specialist assignment involving trust, not a conversion route to permanent government service.

11. Applicant decision summary

Consider applying if you hold an MBA explicitly matching Agribusiness Management, Marketing, International Business or Entrepreneurship, have documented three years of relevant post-qualification work, can work from New Delhi, and accept a contract initially lasting one year. Documented FPO, startup, training and event experience helps show suitability but is not a substitute for essentials.

Do not assume eligibility merely because you are from the Northeast, hold a different MBA title, work in agriculture without the named MBA, or have experience that cannot be substantiated. Do not assume the role is posted in a Northeast state, that its upper remuneration limit is guaranteed on joining, or that it becomes permanent after renewals.

The most time-critical action is to complete, sign and email the prescribed two-page form with the supporting records by 18 November 2026 at 5:00 PM. The original notice and form are in one PDF: APEDA Associate (Northeast Region) Advertisement, 05.11.2026.

Post description

Associate (Northeast Region) — APEDA's New Delhi-Based Agri-Export Contract Role

APEDA's 5 November 2026 notice invites applications for one Associate (Northeast Region) at its Head Office in New Delhi. The name signals the regional orientation of the assignment; it is not a promise of posting to a northeastern city. Domestic travel to other Indian locations can be required for APEDA work, with official-tour TA/DA as specified in the contract conditions.

Essential entry standard

The educational requirement is an MBA in Agribusiness Management, Marketing, International Business or Entrepreneurship. These are OR alternatives, not four separate degrees to be collected. The notice does not set a minimum MBA percentage. In addition, an applicant must have at least three years of experience in a related field. The prescribed application requests post-qualification experience and a full employment history identifying employer, role, dates, years/months and nature of responsibilities. Keep the evidence consistent across the CV, experience certificates and form.

Desirable expertise: training or capacity building, previous engagement with startups/FPOs, and organising events. Demonstrate these with authentic examples and outcomes. The notice does not publish a score for each desirable attribute or say that any one of them replaces the MBA/experience requirement.

Remuneration, period and working arrangements

₹80,000–₹1,05,000 per month inclusive of applicable taxes, with no separate routine allowances or facilities promised. The monthly amount for an individual appointee is not fixed within the published range. Travel allowance on approved official tours is separately governed by the Pay Level-10 TA/DA entitlement cited in the notice; this does not mean the Associate holds a Level-10 regular post.

The contract initially runs one year, including three weeks' probation. APEDA can review performance for annual extension, with a strict three-year outer limit. Ordinary separation requires 30 days' notice or pay instead, subject to the notice's separate provisions for serious failure, unsatisfactory conduct and conflict of interest. The position carries no right to future permanent employment.

Normal office hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break. Extra hours or holiday work can be required when necessary. Paid leave is 20 days per year on a pro-rata basis with written approval, without carry-forward. The notice also addresses approved unpaid absence, maternity leave as per applicable law, police verification and a fitness certificate prior to engagement.

Why this position is specialised

APEDA is responsible for strengthening agricultural and processed-food exports, including quality standards, market access, training and work around barriers such as SPS/TBT. The work of the Northeast-region Associate is not broken into a post-specific job-duty list in the notice. Applicants can nevertheless assess the relevance of their real work in producer organisations, agribusiness outreach, market development, capacity-building programmes and event coordination to the authority's published functions. No particular produce, northeastern state, travel target or monthly performance quota should be assumed.

Selection and submission

The notice says only shortlisted candidates will receive an email about an interview. It does not announce a written test, formal examination syllabus, numerical interview marking, or interview date. Eligibility and document verification apply; false declarations can lead to cancellation.

Use the typed and signed prescribed form on pages 5–6 of the original PDF. Attach a scanned CV, self-attested age and MBA documents, post-qualification work experience records, and the photograph and other requested information. Send one properly completed application to recruitment@apeda.gov.in clearly naming Associate (Northeast Region), no later than 18 November 2026 at 17:00. An electronic portal application is not stated in the notice. The document supplies no application fee.

Before applying: verify the exact MBA specialisation, the three years of relevant experience, willingness to work in New Delhi, and your understanding that this is a fixed-period contract rather than a regular government appointment.

Duties

Regional-focus associate engagement supporting APEDA at its New Delhi Head Office. The notice describes APEDA agricultural export promotion and market-access mandate, but does not publish a post-specific task schedule or fixed duties for this Associate.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute professional expertise appropriate to APEDA’s agricultural and processed-food export mandate; precise daily duties are not specified in the public notice.
  • Be available for official travel anywhere in India if required, under the notified TA/DA conditions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of APEDA records and information and comply with contractual conduct requirements.
  • Observe normal office hours and the additional working arrangements specified for work exigencies.
Post-specific instructions
  • Use the prescribed two-page form included as pages 5 and 6 of the APEDA original PDF; type the form and sign it.
  • Mention the exact position Associate (Northeast Region) in the application/email.
  • Attach a scanned CV and self-attested copies of age, MBA qualification and relevant post-qualification experience evidence; complete all prescribed form fields.
  • Email the application package to recruitment@apeda.gov.in by 18 November 2026, 17:00 hours.
  • Submit only one application; the notice cautions that multiple submissions may lead to rejection.
  • Keep access to the email address supplied in the form for shortlisting and interview communication.
