Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) is conducting the Vidyalaya Pustakalayadhyaksh Patrata Pariksha 2026, commonly described as the Bihar School Librarian Eligibility Test 2026, under Advertisement No. PR 221/2026. The examination is connected with eligibility for future School Librarian recruitment under the applicable Bihar rules, but the present notice itself does not advertise any vacancy or make an appointment.
Online applications are scheduled to open on 1 October 2026 and close on 21 October 2026. Candidates must be Indian citizens and residents of Bihar. The educational condition includes graduation with at least 45 percent marks or equivalent grade together with a recognised B.Lib, B.Lib.I.Sc or B.L.I.Sc qualification. The notified 5 percent relaxation in the graduation-marks requirement applies to the eligible reserved/special categories specified in the notice.
Age is reckoned as on 1 August 2026. The minimum age is 21 years. The normal upper-age limit is 37 years for Unreserved male candidates, 40 years for Unreserved female, BC and EBC candidates, and 42 years for SC/ST candidates. Additional relaxation provisions for PwBD and Ex-Servicemen apply according to the notice and applicable Bihar Government rules.
The application fee is Rs. 960 for Unreserved, Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class candidates, and Rs. 760 for SC, ST and Divyang candidates. Applications and fee payment are online through the notified SLET registration portal.
The examination is a computer-based objective test of 150 questions for 150 marks with a duration of 150 minutes. Library Science carries 100 marks and General Knowledge carries 50 marks. No negative marking or interview is stated in the notice. Where the examination is conducted in multiple sessions, BSEB applies normalisation before the category-wise qualifying standard is determined.
The notified qualifying percentages on the normalised score are 50 percent for General, 45.5 percent for BC, 42.5 percent for EBC, and 40 percent for SC, ST, Divyang and women. Successful candidates receive an eligibility certificate. Any future School Librarian vacancy count, pay scale, posting and appointment process must come through a separate recruitment notification and are therefore intentionally not shown as vacancies in this record.
