Central Silk Board's MESSO has invited online applications for 16 Sericulture Assistant contractual posts across 13 units in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tamil Nadu. The role pays ₹21,000 per month plus HRA, is initially for not more than one year and is filled through personal interview only. About this Recruitment
Recruitment-specific overview from the published record.
Central Silk Board's Muga Eri Silkworm Seed Organization (MESSO), Guwahati has invited online applications for 16 Sericulture Assistant (SA) positions on a purely contractual basis. The engagement is initially for a period not exceeding one year, carries a consolidated remuneration of ₹21,000 per month plus HRA, and is to be filled through personal interview. The application closes on 30 October 2026, while the notification separately fixes 6 November 2026 as the cut-off date for age, educational qualification and other eligibility conditions.
The vacancy geography is much more concentrated than a generic 'all India' label suggests. The official table distributes the 16 posts across 13 named CSB/MESSO units in only five States: Assam 7, Meghalaya 5, Nagaland 1, Mizoram 1 and Tamil Nadu 2. That means 14/16, or 87.5%, of the notified posts are in the North-East, while Assam and Meghalaya alone account for 12/16, or 75%. Only three locations have two vacancies each—Guwahati, Tura and Hosur—while the remaining ten locations have one vacancy each. This matters because candidates may indicate only three preferred posting locations, and the final posting is decided by CSB on merit, vacancy availability and administrative exigencies. A preference is therefore not an assurance of posting at that location.
The official eligibility is not a simple 'B.Sc. eligible' rule. It contains six separate academic/experience routes: (1) three-year full-time degree in Sericulture; (2) four-year full-time degree in Sericulture; (3) three-year full-time degree plus PG Diploma in Sericulture; (4) four-year full-time Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Sciences or Forestry; (5) three-year full-time degree in Biological Sciences—Zoology, Botany or Biology—or Biotechnology plus PG Diploma in Sericulture; or (6) three-year full-time Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences—Zoology, Botany or Biology—or Biotechnology plus one year of experience in sericultural project work. A subtle but important point is that the third route in the advertisement says 'three years full time degree + PG Diploma in Sericulture' without separately restricting the discipline of that degree. This record preserves that wording instead of narrowing it by assumption.
Experience is therefore not mandatory for every applicant. One year of sericultural project experience is mandatory only for the specific Biology/Biotechnology route that does not use a PG Diploma in Sericulture. Separately, the advertisement lists work experience in silkworm rearing and grainage, Sericulture and related pre-cocoon-sector work as desirable. A desirable condition should not be converted into a compulsory experience threshold for candidates qualifying through the other degree routes.
The age ceiling is 35 years, and the official cut-off date for age, qualification and other eligibility is 6 November 2026. The advertisement does not publish a minimum age or a category-wise age-relaxation table, so neither is invented here. The gap between the 30 October application deadline and the 6 November eligibility cut-off is unusual: the online application also requires candidates to attach self-attested documents supporting eligibility. Candidates whose degree, diploma or experience is expected to mature only during 31 October-6 November should not assume that the later cut-off automatically solves the document-submission problem; the safe course is to obtain clarification from MESSO through the official helpline before filing. This is an editorial caution arising from the two dates in the same official notice, not an additional eligibility rule created by SarkariSapna.
The remuneration should also be read carefully. The official figure is ₹21,000 per month plus HRA; it does not state the HRA amount and does not publish an in-hand salary. If a person serves a full 12 months at an unchanged base rate, the arithmetic base remuneration would be ₹252,000 plus applicable HRA. However, the contract is described as initially for a period not exceeding one year, so ₹252,000 should not be presented as a guaranteed contract value.
This contract is not tied to a specific research project. The notification expressly says selected individuals will not be associated with any particular project; instead, they will assist the work performed by Senior Technical Assistants/Technical Staff at CSB institutes/units. That is a useful distinction from project-linked temporary jobs because the role is intended to support regular technical operations across the notified seed-production and field units.
Local-language familiarity is also operationally relevant. While choosing posting preferences, candidates are 'preferably expected' to be well versed in the local language of the concerned region. The notice does not make local-language proficiency a formal essential qualification, so it is not marked mandatory; nevertheless, with 87.5% of the vacancies in North-Eastern States and ten of the thirteen units carrying only one vacancy, candidates should treat language and relocation fit as a real posting consideration.
Selection is by personal interview only. There is no written examination in this notice. Interview date, time and venue will be communicated only through email, and CSB says it will not be responsible for non-delivery or late delivery of email. Candidates therefore need to submit an active email address and monitor inbox/spam folders. Interview attendance is at the candidate's own cost; no TA/DA, boarding or lodging is admissible.
The online application must be submitted through the official CSB hiring portal and should include self-attested copies of documents supporting eligibility. Incomplete applications are liable to summary rejection, and the advertisement says requests to add information after submission will not be entertained. Original certificates and identity proof must be produced at interview/document verification. False, incomplete, fabricated, tampered, overwritten or materially suppressed information can lead to cancellation at any stage, including after engagement or joining.
MESSO also reserves the right to increase or decrease the vacancy count, cancel or modify the engagement process in whole or for particular posts, and alter conditions or the selection process if unforeseen circumstances arise. Mere possession of the minimum qualification or submission of an application does not create a right to selection. Canvassing directly or indirectly is a disqualification.
The engagement is purely contractual and creates no right to regularisation, absorption, continuation or permanent/temporary appointment in Central Silk Board. The advertisement further states that legal proceedings or disputes arising from the engagement will be subject to the jurisdiction of courts at Bengaluru. That jurisdiction point is easy to miss because the recruiting unit is based in Guwahati and most notified vacancies are in the North-East.
SarkariSapna's current recruitment schema does not have a multi-state value at recruitment level. This record therefore uses the schema-compatible top-level 'all_india' value rather than falsely attaching all 16 vacancies to one State. The actual notified geography is not unrestricted All India: the post-level location list preserves all 13 named units across Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tamil Nadu.
No written exam, admit card, answer key, result or cutoff has been announced for this engagement. Those lifecycle objects are deliberately left empty and should be added only if Central Silk Board later publishes a genuine interview shortlist/result or other official follow-up.
