About this Recruitment
Recruitment-specific overview from the published record.
CSIR-AMPRI RECT-02/2026 — 14 VACANCIES, 12 POST CODES, TWO APPLICATION CLOCKS AND FIVE DIFFERENT SELECTION PROFILES
This is a permanent-position recruitment at CSIR-AMPRI, Bhopal, not a single generic '14 post' vacancy. The official advertisement divides 14 seats across 12 post codes: five Technical Officer codes, four Technician (1) codes, Security Officer, Security Assistant and Multi-Tasking Staff. Eligibility, age cut-off, pay, application window and selection funnel differ materially by post.
VACANCY POSTMORTEM Technical Officer accounts for 7 of 14 seats (50%). Technician contributes 4 of 14 (28.57%). Security Officer, Security Assistant and MTS together contribute 3 (21.43%). Within Technical Officer, TO-03 Chemistry/Applied Chemistry/Chemical Sciences alone has 3 of 7 TO seats — 42.86% of the Technical Officer pool and 21.43% of the entire recruitment.
TWO OF THE 14 SEATS ARE ANTICIPATED TC-03 Machinist and TC-04 Laboratory Assistant (Chemical Plant) are explicitly marked as anticipated vacancies expected to arise from superannuation within the next one year. Therefore 2/14 = 14.29% of the advertised total is future-triggered; the other 12/14 = 85.71% is not labelled anticipated. Candidates should not treat all 14 as identical immediate vacancies.
TWO APPLICATION WINDOWS = TWO DIFFERENT AGE/ELIGIBILITY CUT-OFF DATES Technical Officer and Technician (1) applications run from 07 October to 06 November 2026, closing at 23:59 hrs. Security Officer, Security Assistant and MTS run from 15 October to 16 November 2026, also closing at 23:59 hrs. The post table fixes maximum age at 30 for Technical Officer, 28 for Technician, 35 for Security Officer, 28 for Security Assistant and 25 for MTS, with age reckoned on the relevant closing date. Minimum age is 18.
AGE RELAXATION IS POST-SPECIFIC, NOT A SINGLE 'AS PER RULES' FOOTNOTE PwBD gets 10-year relaxation for Technical Officer, Technician and MTS where eligible, but Security Officer and Security Assistant are not identified suitable for PwBD and carry no PwBD relaxation. Departmental CSIR/Government/Autonomous Body/PSU employees can get up to 5 years only for Technical Officer and Technician, subject to the notified conditions. Widow/divorced/judicially-separated-women relaxation applies to Technician and MTS, not Technical Officer/Security Officer/Security Assistant. Ex-Servicemen relaxation is available under the notified GoI computation rule. SC/ST/OBC(NCL) candidates applying against a UR vacancy do not receive category age relaxation for that UR vacancy.
PAY IS FULLY DEFINED — AND THE ₹86,580 FIGURE IS NOT BASIC PAY Technical Officer and Security Officer are Level 7 (₹44,900-1,42,400), approx. total emoluments ₹86,580/month. Security Assistant is Level 6 (₹35,400-1,12,400), approx. ₹66,500. Technician is Level 2 (₹19,900-63,200), approx. ₹37,000. MTS is Level 1 (₹18,000-56,900), approx. ₹33,650. The advertisement explains that approximate total emoluments are calculated at the minimum of the pay level in a Class-Y city and include Basic Pay, DA, HRA, TA etc.
PERMANENT-SERVICE BENEFITS CHANGE THE PAY COMPARISON Beyond the displayed emoluments, CSIR rules provide applicable DA/HRA/TA, medical reimbursement, LTC, Children's Education Allowance, NPS 2004 and specified advances. Eligible CSIR accommodation may be allotted subject to availability; if accommodation is allotted, HRA is not admissible. This is useful when comparing the recruitment with temporary/project positions where the headline monthly number may not carry the same service-benefit framework.
TECHNICAL OFFICER: PAPER I AND TRADE TEST ARE GATES, NOT MERIT BOOSTERS TO selection is Screening -> qualifying Trade Test -> three-paper competitive written exam. Trade Test marks do not enter final merit. Paper II and III are evaluated only after Paper I threshold is cleared. Final merit comes only from Paper II + III. The written test has 550 raw marks, but only 450 are merit-bearing. Paper III alone contributes 300/450 = 66.67% of final written merit, making the concerned subject the dominant ranking component.
TECHNICIAN: TRADE SKILL MATTERS TWICE Technician selection is Screening -> qualifying Trade Test -> three-paper OMR exam. Again, final merit uses Paper II + III only. Of 400 raw marks, 300 are merit-bearing (75%). Paper III concerned trade contributes 150/300 = 50% of merit-bearing written marks, while the candidate must first qualify the Trade Test itself.
SECURITY OFFICER: FINAL MERIT COMES FROM A 100-MARK SUBJECTIVE PAPER SO-01 has an unusually layered funnel: screening -> physical standards/test -> Paper I -> Paper II. Paper I is a 100-mark Mental Ability & Personality Assessment objective paper with a 30% threshold and no negative marking. Paper II is a 100-mark subjective paper covering comprehension, report writing, security/firefighting and general awareness; its threshold cannot be below 35%. Final merit is based only on Paper II, so clearing physical/Paper-I gates does not itself improve rank.
SECURITY ASSISTANT: PHYSICAL/PERSONALITY IS QUALIFYING, WRITTEN PAPER DECIDES MERIT SA-01 requires the notified ex-servicemen JCO/equivalent background plus five years' security experience. Candidates must first qualify the Physical and Personality Assessment Test, then face a 100-mark, two-hour, Class-12-standard subjective written paper. Final merit is based on that written performance.
MTS: SIMPLE QUALIFICATION, NOT A SIMPLE EXAM OR ROLE MTS requires Matriculation/10th pass, but the actual job covers office maintenance, hospitality, horticulture, records/dispatch, guest-house support and transport-related duties including car driving with a valid LMV licence when assigned. The exam is 150 questions/450 marks in 2 hours, with +3 for a correct answer and -1 for a wrong answer. A simple 150/120 calculation gives an average 48 seconds per question, so accuracy-speed trade-off matters.
₹500 IS PER POST CODE The non-refundable fee is ₹500 for each post code where applicable, via the prescribed online payment route. SC/ST/PwBD/Women/Ex-Servicemen are exempt on uploading the relevant certificate. A non-exempt candidate applying to three eligible post codes is therefore making a derived ₹1,500 fee decision, not one ₹500 payment.
CGPA CONVERSION CAN MAKE AN OTHERWISE ELIGIBLE APPLICATION INCOMPLETE Candidates whose board/university/institute awards CGPA/SGPA/OGPA/DGPA/CPI must convert it to percentage using the institution's prescribed formula and upload that conversion formula. Failure to upload it where applicable makes the application incomplete — particularly important for TO/Technician codes with the 55% requirement.
NOC IS REQUIRED AT APPLICATION STAGE Candidates working in CSIR/Government Departments/Autonomous Bodies/Universities/PSUs/Government-funded research agencies must upload the prescribed NOC with the online application. This is not something to postpone until document verification.
ONE APPLICATION PER POST CODE; MULTIPLE CODES REQUIRE SEPARATE REGISTRATION Only one application per candidate is accepted for each post code; where multiple completed applications for the same code are submitted, the most recent completed application is considered. Candidates wishing to apply for different positions must register/apply separately for the relevant post codes.
EXAM/TRAVEL RISK IS DIFFERENT FOR TRADE-TEST POSTS Written, physical and personality tests are ordinarily in Bhopal. Technical Officer and Technician Trade Tests may be held at CSIR-AMPRI Bhopal or another CSIR laboratory/institute/suitable centre in India depending on equipment availability. Except eligible SC/ST candidates under applicable rules, candidates generally bear their own travel/stay cost.
DO NOT CONFUSE THE NEW MTS WITH RECT-01/2026 CSIR-AMPRI's official career page records cancellation on 05 October 2026 of the older MTS recruitment under RECT-01/2026. MTS-01 under RECT-02/2026 is a separate fresh permanent-position vacancy. Search-result snippets or old bookmarks can therefore mislead users who look only for 'AMPRI MTS 2026'.
APPLICANT DECISION FRAMEWORK Use the exact post code first, then check qualification/trade, reservation, age on the correct closing date, post-specific relaxations, pay level, selection route and actual role. For Technical Officer, subject Paper III dominates final merit; for Technician, trade competence matters in both Trade Test and Paper III; for Security posts, service background and physical gates can eliminate otherwise academically capable applicants; for MTS, the 10th-pass entry requirement should not be mistaken for a low-complexity role or exam.
