NPCIL CA/CMA Intern 2026 - 51 Seats: 1:5 Marks Shortlist, Site Preference, Stipend & Training Reality

NPCIL is engaging 51 CA/CMA Interns for practical training in Finance & Accounts across HQ Mumbai and eight nuclear/project sites. The real competition filter is not a written exam: applicants are screened on aggregate Inter CA/Inter CMA marks at a 1:5 ratio before a virtual interview. The 12-month training pays Rs.20,000 per month, with Rs.5,000 extra only where accommodation is unavailable, may be extended up to another 12 months, and does not create a right to regular NPCIL employment. Applications close at 17:00 hrs on 26 October 2026.

About this Recruitment

Recruitment-specific overview from the published record.

NPCIL CA/CMA INTERN 2026 — WHY THIS IS NOT A NORMAL '51 GOVERNMENT JOBS' STORY

Advertisement No. NPCIL/CACMA/2026/04 is for 51 CA/CMA Intern training positions in Finance & Accounts. The candidate must have passed Inter CA or Inter CMA and must have final marks available. This is a practical-training engagement: NPCIL explicitly treats interns as trainees, not regular employees, and completion of training does not oblige NPCIL to offer employment.

VACANCY CONCENTRATION — HALF THE SEATS ARE IN ONLY THREE SITES The 51 seats are distributed as: HQ Mumbai 10, TAPS 4, RAPS 9, NAPS 4, KAPS 5, MAPS 3, KGS 6, GHAVP 3 and KKNPP 7. The three largest locations — HQ Mumbai (10), RAPS (9) and KKNPP (7) — together account for 26 of 51 seats, or about 50.98%. State-wise, Maharashtra has 14 seats (27.45%), Tamil Nadu 10 (19.61%), Rajasthan 9 (17.65%), Karnataka 6 (11.76%), Gujarat 5 (9.80%), Uttar Pradesh 4 (7.84%) and Haryana 3 (5.88%). These percentages are derived only from the published site totals; they are not reservation percentages.

THE 1:5 SCREENING RULE CREATES A REAL COMPETITION FUNNEL Screening is based on aggregate Inter CA/Inter CMA marks and candidates are shortlisted for virtual personal interview in a 1:5 ratio. If all 51 seats are operated at once, the ratio corresponds to roughly 255 interview slots as a simple planning ceiling. That is a derived figure, not a guaranteed interview count: reservation, site preference, ties, existing-intern extensions and actual vacancy operation can change the number called.

NO WRITTEN EXAM — BUT INTER MARKS ARE NOT JUST AN ELIGIBILITY CHECK This recruitment has no common written examination described. Inter CA/Inter CMA aggregate marks are themselves the initial ranking input for screening. A candidate should therefore not read 'Inter passed' as meaning all eligible applicants reach interview. The notification says minimum eligibility does not by itself create a right to be called.

EXACT PERCENTAGE MATTERS — 49.99 IS NOT 50 Applicants must enter the exact percentage obtained in Inter CA/Inter CMA. Marks are not to be rounded off. This is unusually important here because the same aggregate marks drive interview shortlisting. A candidate who casually rounds a percentage can create both a data-mismatch and a merit-screening problem.

LOCATION PREFERENCE IS STRATEGIC, BUT IT IS NOT NINE SEPARATE APPLICATIONS Candidates wishing to be considered for more than one location are asked to indicate preferences. Screening is still based on CA/CMA marks, and the interview is held in virtual mode at one of the sites/regions as applicable. If multiple applications are submitted, the latest application is considered. That makes a carefully ordered preference list more useful than repeatedly filing forms.

VACANCY COUNT CAN MOVE EVEN AFTER THE ADVERTISEMENT NPCIL states that the number of interns can change depending on extension or completion of existing interns already undergoing training. At a particular site, selection can therefore be kept on hold, cancelled, or an offer can be issued after the earlier batch completes training, subject to the site's maximum advertised strength. This is a major practical risk hidden behind the headline '51 vacancies'.

STIPEND IS NOT THE SAME AS SALARY The notified stipend is Rs.20,000 per month. Where accommodation is not available at the Unit/HQ, an additional Rs.5,000 per month is paid in lieu of accommodation. Over a standard 12-month period, Rs.20,000 per month equals Rs.2.40 lakh in base stipend; if the full Rs.5,000 accommodation amount were payable for all 12 months, the cash total would be Rs.3.00 lakh. These are simple derived annualised figures, not an official annual salary or guaranteed 'in-hand' package.

ACCOMMODATION HAS A TRADE-OFF At Units, suitable accommodation may be provided on payment of the normal licence fee. If accommodation is not available at the Unit/HQ, the additional Rs.5,000 per month applies. A candidate should therefore not automatically add Rs.5,000 to the stipend while also assuming free NPCIL housing.

TENURE CAN DOUBLE, BUT IT IS NOT AUTOMATIC The normal training period is 12 months. Extension may be granted case-by-case for a further period not exceeding 12 months, depending on institute requirements and the student's performance. That means the maximum possible duration can reach 24 months, but the second year is not an entitlement.

WORK-LIFE TERMS ARE SPECIFIC General working hours are 8 hours a day including a one-hour lunch break, five days a week. Paid leave is one day per month — 12 days over a full standard year — and leave during an extension is pro-rata. Absence beyond admissible leave can lead to proportionate stipend deduction.

MEDICAL COVER IS LIMITED The benefits described include free OPD and first-aid facility only, along with site transportation subject to availability. Candidates should not convert this into an assumption of comprehensive employee medical benefits.

TRAINEE STATUS CHANGES THE LEGAL EXPECTATION Interns are treated as trainees. The notification states that labour-related laws applicable to regular employees do not apply to them in the same way, and NPCIL is not obliged to offer a job after training. The value proposition is therefore regulated professional practical training, finance/accounts exposure in a nuclear PSU and stipend — not a pathway that guarantees absorption.

TIE-BREAKING CAN GO ALL THE WAY TO THE NAME The merit process has a detailed tie hierarchy. Higher Inter CA/Inter CMA marks rank higher. If interview marks and Inter marks are equal, the older candidate ranks higher. If interview marks, Inter marks and age are all equal, alphabetical order of the candidate's name is used. This is important because applicants should understand that age can become a ranking factor only after the specified merit tie, not as a general preference.

THE WAITLIST IS NOT AN OPEN-ENDED SECOND MERIT LIST The waitlist is limited to the same number of candidates as the main select list and remains valid for one year from panel approval. It is used only for vacancies caused by a selected candidate not joining, or joining and then resigning/dying within the permitted period, provided a fresh panel is not available. It stops after one year or when a new advertisement is issued, whichever is earlier.

AGE RANGE IS UNUSUALLY WIDE The age condition is 18 to 56 years as on 26 October 2026, corresponding to the stated birth-date boundaries: not born before 26 October 1970 and not born on or after 27 October 2008. The notice summary reviewed does not set out a separate category-wise age-relaxation table, so none is invented here.

DOCUMENT COMPLIANCE CONTINUES AFTER THE VIRTUAL INTERVIEW Engagement is subject to certificate verification, the prescribed medical examination, police verification from District Police authorities and a character/conduct certificate from the concerned institution. Being shortlisted or even receiving an e-call letter is therefore not final engagement.

CATEGORY CERTIFICATE TIMING CAN DISQUALIFY A CANDIDATE For OBC-NCL candidates, the prescribed certificate must satisfy the notification's current-year requirement, including issuance on or after 01 April 2026 as stated in the detailed recruitment guidance. EWS applicants need the prescribed Income and Asset Certificate valid for 2026-27. Category entered in the online form cannot be casually changed later.

EMAIL IS A ONE-YEAR-LONG RECRUITMENT ASSET The registered email ID cannot be changed after entry and should remain active for at least one year because interview/selection communication is electronic. The mobile number should also remain active. This is not a cosmetic form field: losing access to the registered email can mean missing the virtual interview communication.

APPLICATION SUBMISSION HAS A HARD LOCK The online process is registration -> email activation -> fill educational/personal details and upload photograph/signature -> submit. Details may be corrected before final submission, but changes are not allowed after submission. If more than one application is submitted, only the latest application is considered.

PHOTO/SIGNATURE VALIDATION IS PART OF ELIGIBILITY PROCESSING The uploaded photograph appears on the call letter and is used to identify the candidate for interview/verification stages. An invalid or irrelevant photograph/signature can cause rejection. Applicants should therefore treat the image requirements as a recruitment condition rather than a formatting afterthought.

DEADLINE IS 5 PM, NOT MIDNIGHT Online registration runs from 06 October 2026 at 10:00 hrs to 26 October 2026 at 17:00 hrs. The Contact Us query facility closes earlier on the last day, at 13:00 hrs. Candidates who assume a midnight closing time risk missing the application window by seven hours.

APPLICANT DECISION CHECKLIST 1. Confirm Inter CA or Inter CMA is passed and final marks are available. 2. Use the exact aggregate percentage without rounding. 3. Rank site preferences deliberately rather than filing duplicate forms. 4. Remember that screening is marks-based at 1:5 before interview. 5. Compare 12-month training value with the fact that employment is not guaranteed. 6. Budget using Rs.20,000 stipend; add Rs.5,000 only if accommodation is actually unavailable. 7. Keep the registered email/mobile active for at least one year. 8. Prepare category, institute, police/character and medical-verification documentation early. 9. Submit before 17:00 hrs on 26 October 2026 — not at night. 10. Recheck NPCIL Careers for corrigenda because site-wise intern numbers can be operationally held or changed.
