RBI Mumbai Pharmacist 2026: 22-Seat Panel, Two-Step Application and the ₹600 Hourly Reality
RBI Mumbai has notified a 22-pharmacist contract PANEL (UR 13/OBC 5/EWS 2/SC 1/ST 1), not 22 permanent jobs. Required: Matriculation, D.Pharm or B.Pharm, Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council registration and at least 2 years of post-qualification pharmacist experience. Pay is ₹600 per hour, capped at 5 hours/day, with up to 240 days per engagement but no guaranteed duty. Apply using signed Annex-I hard copy by 3 Nov 2026, 5 PM, AND the linked Microsoft Forms. Shortlisting considers qualifications, proximity and employer background; interview then medical/document checks. No exam syllabus, admit-card date or result date is notified.

About this Recruitment
Recruitment-specific overview from the published record.
RBI Mumbai Pharmacist 2026: What the 22 vacancies actually mean
The Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai Office has invited applications to prepare a panel of 22 pharmacists for its dispensaries within Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. This is a contract-based, fixed-hourly-remuneration engagement, not recruitment to a regular RBI pharmacist cadre. The official notification does not promise that all 22 individuals will begin working on the same day or that a selected individual will receive regular assignments. The Bank engages empanelled pharmacists when and where dispensary requirements arise. A candidate deciding whether to apply should evaluate the licensing, experience, two-channel submission, proximity and remuneration conditions rather than assume that a headline vacancy is equivalent to a permanent salaried job.
The reservation matrix reconciles to 22—not 22 plus separate categories
The officially notified distribution is 13 general/unreserved, 5 OBC, 2 EWS, 1 SC and 1 ST. The arithmetic is 13 + 5 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 22. These are vertical-category seats within the stated total; they are not additional positions on top of 22. The advertisement does not provide a separate PwBD seat distribution and does not specify a category-wise interview cutoff or rank target. The EWS vacancies are explicitly tentative and subject to Government directives and litigation outcomes; a declared category-wise count should not be interpreted as an unconditional guarantee of final empanelment.
Qualification filter: Matriculation plus pharmacy training; D.Pharm and B.Pharm are alternatives
The notification first asks for Matriculation or an equivalent examination. For professional pharmacy education, the minimum specified route is a Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognised institution under the Pharmacy Act, 1948. An applicant holding B.Pharm can also apply. The sensible reading is Matriculation AND recognised pharmacy qualification (D.Pharm OR B.Pharm), rather than Matriculation by itself or a degree in any discipline. There is no advertised minimum Class 10, D.Pharm or B.Pharm percentage; do not invent a 50% or 60% qualifying threshold. Neither M.Pharm, Pharm.D nor additional postgraduate training appears as a compulsory entry route in this notification, although RBI may consider overall education while shortlisting.
Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council registration is a separate gate
Having D.Pharm or B.Pharm alone is not enough. The advertisement specifically requires registration with the Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council. A candidate holding a pharmacy degree or registration with another State Pharmacy Council should not infer that the Maharashtra requirement is automatically satisfied; verify registration and produce the Maharashtra registration certificate. The Annex-I instructions call for a self-attested copy of the council registration certificate. This is a professional registration condition, not a separately notified Maharashtra domicile requirement. The RBI dispensary locations are in Maharashtra, but the notice does not impose a standalone residential-domicile certificate condition.
Two years of experience: what counts and which employment is preferred
At least two years of pharmacist experience is mandatory. The form in Annex-I explicitly says that only experience gained after the diploma or graduation should be listed. Candidates therefore need a verifiable chronological record showing the qualifying pharmacy course, completion, start and end of pharmacist employment, employer or hospital name and relevant duties. Experience in Public Sector Banks, PSUs and Government organisations is preferred, not universally compulsory. A pharmacist with two documented years in another hospital or clinic is not automatically disqualified solely because the employer is not a PSU. Conversely, informal dispensing, internship periods before qualifying graduation/diploma, or unrelated healthcare administration should not simply be renamed as post-qualification pharmacist experience. RBI also asks for basic working knowledge of computers.
Interview shortlist is not purely marks- or seniority-based
RBI states three named shortlisting considerations: overall academic qualifications (postgraduate/degree/diploma), distance from the applicant’s residence to the Bank’s different dispensaries, and experience with PSBs, PSUs, Government bodies and RBI. Thus an otherwise qualified applicant far from the relevant dispensaries should understand that proximity can influence screening; the advertisement publishes no numerical distance cap in kilometres, no fixed catchment boundary, no academic-score weightage and no shortlist ratio. Similarly, a B.Pharm qualification does not confer an automatically published priority rank over all D.Pharm holders. The Bank may raise minimum shortlisting standards to limit interview numbers. Meeting the minimum entry criteria alone does not guarantee an interview invitation.
Fixed hourly remuneration: ₹600 is not a monthly government pay scale
The published engagement rate is ₹600 for each hour actually engaged. The notification caps ordinary engagement at five hours per day, i.e. at most ₹3,000 for such a day. That is a rate and a daily maximum, not an assured ₹3,000 on every calendar day and not a regular monthly salary. The maximum engagement period is 240 days at a stretch, but that does not mean RBI guarantees 240 paid days to each empanelled pharmacist. Multiplying ₹3,000 by 240 gives a purely theoretical ₹7,20,000 ceiling if every one of those 240 days contained the full five paid hours; the notice promises neither this schedule nor that payment. Actual sums depend on RBI’s calls for duty and hours used. The notice excludes additional salary, allowance and regular employee facilities, and gives no regular pay-matrix level.
One or multiple RBI dispensaries: distance and travel are candidate decisions
Posting may be in any RBI dispensary within the Bank-defined Mumbai and Navi Mumbai area and may include more than one dispensary depending on operational requirements. No applicant can claim a fixed dispensary, five hours daily or one exclusively assigned site merely from selection. The notice refers to the boundaries of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation for jurisdictional purposes. Its citation of these civic portals is geographical context, not an application portal or a residence-distance scoring chart. Candidates should consider realistic commuting availability across the region; no specific travel reimbursement for engagements is promised.
Dual submission: the postal package AND the PDF-linked Microsoft Forms
This vacancy is not an ordinary online-only apply button. The notification instructs eligible candidates to complete its Annex-I form, affix a recent self-attested photograph, sign, attach self-attested photocopies of essential educational/professional/age/experience and applicable reservation documents, and send the bundle in a sealed cover. In addition, it expressly asks candidates to enter the requisite details through its linked web form. The supplied official RBI PDF embeds https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/1gsDWMFY7D as that link. Completing the web form alone cannot replace the sealed-cover Annex-I package; mailing Annex-I alone also omits a step the notice expressly asks applicants to perform. This Microsoft Forms address was extracted from the official PDF hyperlink; avoid unrelated third-party application pages. Preserve submission confirmation where offered and postal dispatch/delivery evidence.
3 November, 5:00 PM: delivery deadline, not a last posting date
The signed prescribed application and attachments must REACH the Regional Director, Human Resource Management Department, Recruitment Section, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai Regional Office, Shahid Bhagat Singh Road, Fort, Mumbai – 400001, no later than 17:00 hours on 3 November 2026. The notice uses a receipt deadline: posting a parcel on the deadline is insufficient if it arrives late. The exact envelope superscription required is “Application for the post of Pharmacist on contract basis with fixed hourly remuneration, Mumbai”. A plain email, unsupported recruitment portal or postal packet addressed to a different RBI office would be risky. The notification does not announce a separate web-form closing clock or fee-payment date. Applicants should finish both prescribed steps sufficiently early rather than rely on a same-day delivery.
Category certificates: NCL issue-date and EWS validity are not optional fine print
For OBC reservation, the caste/community must be on the applicable Central Government list, and the certificate must specify Non-Creamy Layer status. RBI requires an OBC NCL certificate issued AFTER 1 April 2026. The notice also explains that an OBC claimant’s origin is assessed in relation to the State or portion of State to which the father originally belongs; a migrant applicant must check the appropriate origin-based documentation rather than assume their present address is decisive. The SC/ST certificate must follow the notified Central Government proforma and exact community spelling, not merely an informal caste document. EWS applicants need the notified Income and Asset Certificate for financial year 2025–26 valid for 2026–27; even these two EWS positions are tentative. These documentary specifics can influence whether a candidate’s reserved-category claim survives scrutiny, independently of the pharmacy degree or years worked.
Age and domicile: do not invent thresholds absent from the notice
The Annex-I application asks applicants to state their date of birth and age calculated on 1 October 2026, and to provide place of birth and domicile information. However the supplied nine-page notification does NOT specify a minimum age, upper age limit, numerical age-relaxation table, or a Maharashtra domicile prerequisite. Writing “18–35 years”, “maximum 45 years”, “SC five years relaxation”, or “Maharashtra residents only” would be an unsupported eligibility condition. Date-of-birth and domicile fields on an administrative form do not on their own establish statutory acceptance thresholds. Candidates should complete those fields accurately and watch for any further official clarification.
What happens after the application: full RBI recruitment lifecycle
Stage 1 is receipt/scrutiny of the prescribed paper application and supplementary linked details. Stage 2 is shortlisting based on recognised pharmacy education, relevant employment, proximity and any higher standards RBI adopts. Stage 3 is a personal interview for shortlisted applicants; the advertisement specifies no CBT, written examination, academic syllabus, numerical cutoff, exam city list, negative marking or exam date. Stage 4 follows the interview: medical examination and document verification for candidates considered for the panel. Stage 5 is panel placement and acceptance of engagement conditions, including Bank agreements and a nondisclosure clause. Stage 6 is need-based deployment to one or more dispensaries. The notification does not announce interview dates, roll-number results or portal links for admit cards, answer keys or result publications. Therefore exam/admit-card/answer-key/result/cutoff records should not be fabricated in the recruitment database. Any future official interview call, panel notification or medical notice should be attached to this same recruitment identity when published, rather than generating a duplicate job.
Medical check and panel entry are not an appointment guarantee
The RBI notice explicitly states that individuals shortlisted after interview undergo document verification and a medical check before engagement; medical fitness is a pre-engagement condition. A candidate added to the panel may be called on a need basis and is not promised day-to-day work. This is different from a waiting list after a competitive written examination and different from appointment to a regular permanent RBI post. The final engagement is subject to acceptance of terms, the Code of Conduct and the required agreements; confidentiality and the nondisclosure obligation are central because dispensary personnel may encounter private information about Bank staff and patients.
Contract controls, confidentiality and no assumption of regularisation
The maximum period at a stretch is 240 days, and RBI can stop using contracted pharmacist services without notice or explanation as stated in the notification. The arrangement creates no right to temporary or permanent Bank employment or benefits that regular staff receive. The annexed Code of Conduct includes secrecy of the Bank’s affairs, discipline, absence-control requirements, no outsourcing of one’s pharmacist service, and restrictions on exploiting patients’ treatment or diagnostic referrals for commissions. These terms are substantive differences from a fixed full-time public-sector job; applicants should weigh them alongside the ₹600 hourly rate before accepting an offer.
Application checklist that prevents common rejections
Before dispatch, verify: completed Annex-I on the RBI-provided format; self-attested photograph; exact name and current contact details; class-10/equivalent proof; recognised D.Pharm or B.Pharm evidence; Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council registration; post-qualification pharmacist experience certificates with dates; age proof; category/EWS/NCL certificate where applicable; accurate statement of present employer and working hours; applicant signature; sealed envelope with the exact superscription; delivery address and tracking; and separate completion of the official PDF-linked web form. The form says incomplete applications are liable to rejection. The notice does not prescribe a recruitment application fee, but silence is not a published fee-exemption scheme; do not manufacture one.
Practical eligibility examples—not a substitute for RBI screening
Case A: a matriculate with valid D.Pharm, Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council registration and three years of documented pharmacist work after the diploma may meet the main professional gates even without a B.Pharm degree, subject to other conditions. Case B: a B.Pharm graduate registered only with a different state pharmacy council should not assume the mandatory Maharashtra registration is met. Case C: a person with two years’ experience, one of which was before earning the qualifying diploma, needs to recalculate eligible post-qualification experience and may fall short. Case D: a pharmacist in a private recognised hospital with two post-qualification years is not automatically excluded because government/PSB background is a preference at shortlisting, not the sole eligible employer. Case E: a candidate submitting only the Microsoft Forms response is missing the hard-copy application. These examples explain notified requirements; RBI alone decides admissibility and screening.
Questions candidates actually need answered
Q: Is there a written exam? A: No written exam is announced in this particular notification. Interview after shortlisting is the notified evaluation; no syllabus or admit-card date exists. Q: Does B.Pharm replace the two-year work-experience condition? A: No; both degree/diploma routes still require two years of pharmacist experience. Q: Does an RBI panel seat guarantee a 240-day salary? A: No; the panel allows need-based engagement for up to 240 days at a stretch. Q: Is ₹600 the fixed daily rate? A: No; ₹600 is hourly and daily engagement may not exceed five hours (₹3,000 maximum on a fully used day). Q: Is Maharashtra domicile compulsory? A: The notice requires council registration, not a separately stated domicile cutoff. Q: Can I apply only through the web form? A: No; the signed prescribed sealed-cover hard copy must reach the RBI office, and supplementary linked details must also be provided. Q: Has RBI announced a result date? A: No interview date, selection result date or panel-publication date is stated in this advertisement. Monitor only RBI’s official recruitment notices for future updates.
