UCO Bank Apprentice 2026: 530 Seats, Remote 100-Mark Test & State-wise Merit
UCO Bank offers 530 provisional, one-year apprenticeship training seats under Advt. HO/HRM/RECR/2026-27/COM-02. The critical distinction is a remotely taken 100-mark online test on 7 November—not marks-only shortlisting. Apply for one State/UT through NATS, then finish the separate BFSI SSC details and non-refundable fee by 29 October 2026. Jharkhand has 12 seats (ST 6, UR 5, SC 1); ₹16,650 is a monthly training stipend, not a regular bank salary.

UCO Bank Apprentice 2026–27: a remote 100-mark test, not graduation-marks selection
UCO Bank's 13 October 2026 notification, advertisement HO/HRM/RECR/2026-27/COM-02, identifies 530 provisional training seats under the Apprentices Act, 1961. This is one Graduate Apprentice engagement profile distributed across States/UTs, not 530 permanent vacancies or 31 separately advertised job titles. The selection decision is built around an online objective examination on 7 November 2026 at 11 AM, followed by State/category merit, a local-language check where needed, and medical fitness. Merely holding a graduation degree or submitting a NATS form does not put a candidate on the final merit list.
1. Application completion has two portals and one shared 29 October cutoff
First register/login at the Government's NATS portal and apply to the UCO Bank apprenticeship opportunity listed there; retain the NATS enrolment ID. The notice says successfully registered NATS applicants receive an email from BFSI Sector Skill Council of India (BFSI SSC), originating from info@bfsissc.com, requesting category, preferred training districts and further details. They must complete the separate BFSI SSC / BEEP examination registration and online fee payment. Both the Bank apprenticeship registration window and the BFSI SSC additional-information / payment deadline end on 29 October 2026. NATS-only submission or an unpaid test registration is insufficient. Applicants should confirm fee-payment status rather than assuming the acknowledgement from one portal covers both steps.
This timing deserves attention: the Bank's official 2025–26 apprentice notice put its NATS application cutoff on 30 October 2025 and the separate BFSI SSC exam-payment cutoff on 5 November 2025. That later payment grace period should not be carried over to 2026–27: the new official notice states 29 October 2026 for both. The previous cycle is context only; this year's notification controls eligibility and dates. No paper application is required.
2. The graduate-certificate issuance rule is a real eligibility filter
A candidate needs a graduate degree from a university/institution approved by the Government of India or the relevant regulator. UCO's precise documentary condition is more specific than 'any graduate': applicants must have completed graduation and possess graduation mark sheets plus a provisional or final graduation degree certificate issued on or after 1 April 2022. The notice does not establish a blanket minimum graduation percentage; equally, it does not authorise claiming that any old degree automatically qualifies. Look at the issue date printed on the provisional/final degree certificate, not only the convocation or admission date. The stated eligibility reference date is 1 October 2026. Candidates whose pass/completion and certificate dates do not clearly satisfy the wording should resolve the discrepancy with the authorised recruiting agency instead of relying on an assumed equivalence.
The ordinary age range is 20–28 years on 1 October 2026 for UR/EWS. Upper-age concessions are SC/ST +5 years; OBC-NCL +3; PwBD UR/EWS +10, OBC +13 and SC/ST +15; the notice also specifies concessions up to age 35/38/40 respectively for eligible non-remarried widowed, divorced or legally separated women in UR/EWS, OBC and SC/ST categories. Applicants claiming these exceptions need original supporting certificates at verification. These are relaxations on the upper limit, not additional seats or a different graduation rule.
3. 100 questions in 60 minutes: qualifying marks are not selection cutoffs
The remote online test has four equally weighted sections: General/Financial Awareness (25 questions/25 marks), General English (25/25), Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude (25/25) and Quantitative Aptitude (25/25). Total: 100 questions, 100 marks, 60 minutes. The notice states minimum qualifying marks of 40/100 for General/EWS and 35/100 for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD. These are minimum qualification thresholds, not guaranteed selection scores: within each State and category, actual merit is ordered by test score, and the candidate senior in age ranks higher when relevant cutoff marks tie. No numerical final selection cutoff is published yet. Do not import a 'no written test' rule from another bank's apprenticeship drive.
UCO's prescribed mode is unusual operationally: eligible candidates who register and pay receive their online test link and login credentials via BFSI SSC on the day before the exam. They take the test from their own camera-enabled laptop, desktop, tablet or smartphone at home, maintaining isolation as directed. They must show the Aadhaar card uploaded on NATS as identity proof. A paid application is not an examination pass; failure to register for the written test disqualifies further participation. The official handout and communication should determine any unresolved device or proctoring details; the recruitment notice does not provide a negative-marking rate, so candidates should not assume one.
4. Where are the 530 seats? Jharkhand and category maths change the decision
All 530 advertised seats are provisional. The national vertical reservation arithmetic is SC 106 + ST 49 + OBC-NCL 147 + EWS 23 + UR 205 = 530. The separately printed PwBD distribution is OC 25, HI 9, VI 1, ID 0, a total of 35 horizontal seats already included within the 530—not 565 vacancies. The Bank can revise actual requirements.
Jharkhand has only 12 training seats, broken down as SC 1, ST 6, OBC-NCL 0, EWS 0, UR 5; 6/12 (50%) of the Jharkhand total is listed in ST reservation. That is an allocation, not a prediction of category-specific competition or a guarantee that a reserved-category applicant cannot compete for an unreserved seat under applicable rules. West Bengal has 86 seats (16.2% of the all-India total), followed by Uttar Pradesh 45, Odisha 41, Rajasthan 37 and Bihar 34. Together those top five geographies hold 243 of 530 seats (45.8%). Other relevant allocations include Maharashtra 32, Madhya Pradesh 27, Himachal Pradesh 25, Assam 24, Punjab 24, Tamil Nadu 21 and Gujarat 20.
Only one State/UT may be selected. Applicants may express district preferences inside that choice, but the Bank retains discretion to assign any district in the chosen State/UT; residence in a favoured district is not a posting guarantee. The table covers 31 States/UTs with advertised seats, not every State/UT in India. Use the notice's actual State-by-category table before choosing; the largest all-India allocation may be irrelevant if the candidate cannot meet that State's language requirement or training-location constraints.
Full notified State/UT category table (provisional, 13 October 2026)
These are the vertical seat allocations exactly as listed by UCO Bank. PwBD horizontal seats are already inside the State totals; they must not be added again. Bank spelling "Pondicherry" and "Telengana" is standardised below to Puducherry and Telangana for reader clarity without changing counts.

5. Local-language evidence determines whether a separate test is needed
The chosen State/UT has a reading, writing, speaking and comprehension local-language requirement. Candidates who produce a Class 10 or Class 12 mark sheet/certificate demonstrating that they studied an accepted local language do not have to take the separate language test. Others must pass the language test during document verification; failure prevents engagement. The notification does not list a complete State-wise accepted-language matrix, so do not presume one named language is automatically accepted for every State. This is a training-State choice with an evidence requirement, not just a State quota preference.
6. Training economics: ₹16,650 stipend is split into Bank and DBT components
The monthly ₹16,650 stipend comprises ₹10,500 paid by UCO Bank and a stated ₹6,150 Government share through DBT, the latter expressly subject to changes under Government guidelines. At the advertised rate, twelve complete months would arithmetically equal ₹1,99,800 before any real-world timing/DBT changes; this figure is a multiplication of stated rates, not a guaranteed salary package. Training lasts one year from the date of the apprenticeship contract. No other Bank employee allowances/benefits, PF, ESI, bonus, Bank-provided accommodation or guaranteed regular appointment are promised. Training hours are linked to the Bank's clerical-staff hours, but apprentices remain trainees, not regular employees.
The training contract is meaningful: the advertisement restricts withdrawal after selection except for reasons beyond a trainee's control and states that absence may trigger recovery of training costs and stipend as determined under the relevant framework. Candidates should assess travel, district flexibility and stipend affordability before accepting placement rather than assuming a guaranteed permanent banking career follows.
7. Past apprenticeship and post-degree experience can disqualify otherwise qualified graduates
Applicants who previously underwent apprenticeship with UCO Bank or another organisation, are undergoing an apprenticeship, or whose apprenticeship was terminated by the engaging organisation are barred by the notified conditions. Separately, applicants with one year or more of job experience or training after completing the qualifying education are ineligible. This is an exclusion, not a minimum experience requirement. A fresher should not invent previous experience, and a working graduate should check exact post-qualification employment/training dates before paying a non-refundable fee.
8. Category certificates and payments: the less visible rejection risks
Fees are ₹800 + GST for General/EWS/OBC male, ₹600 + GST for General/EWS/OBC female or transgender, and ₹200 + GST for SC/ST or PwBD candidates. The fee is not refunded for non-attendance, rejection or non-selection. A published basic fee of ₹200, ₹600 or ₹800 should not be mistaken for a GST-inclusive final transaction amount. OBC-NCL certificates must be issued on or after 1 April 2026 and be valid at verification, with the required non-creamy-layer clause and Central List eligibility. EWS income/asset certificates must be valid for FY 2026–27 based on FY 2025–26. OBC creamy-layer applicants cannot take OBC reservation merely because their community is OBC in another list. PwBD certificates/UDID may be reverified.
Matching candidate particulars across NATS and BFSI SSC is essential. The notice warns that mismatches can disqualify an applicant, and records including name/category/DOB cannot ordinarily be changed after final submission. Candidates with CGPA/OGPA should keep the university's official grade-to-percentage conversion rule/certificate ready for document verification; do not invent a universal CGPA multiplier. Original education, age, category and other relevant certificates are checked. The notice also says no ex-servicemen/disabled ex-servicemen reservation for this apprenticeship engagement.
9. A practical decision path before paying the fee
Case A — fresh graduate, age 23: holds a recognised bachelor's degree and both mark sheets and qualifying degree certificate issued after the notified date, never apprenticed, under a year of post-qualification work/training, and can demonstrate the chosen State's local language. This is the intended applicant profile, subject to exact source conditions and document verification. Case B — graduate with 14 months of post-degree paid work: the one-year exclusion creates a substantive ineligibility concern even if exam preparation and academic eligibility are strong. Case C — Jharkhand OBC-NCL applicant: the State table lists zero OBC-reserved training seats, so the applicant must examine open-category consideration under applicable Bank rules; do not misread the national OBC total of 147 as Jharkhand-specific seats. Case D — applicant with a 2021 degree certificate and recent mark sheets: the certificate-issuance date condition needs authoritative clarification, not a generic 'any graduate' assurance. These examples are interpretations to help candidates apply the written rules, not selection decisions.
10. Deadline, exam and official application sources
Notification: 13 October 2026. Registration opens: 14 October 2026. NATS/UCO application and BFSI SSC extra-details/fee closes: 29 October 2026. Remote online examination: 7 November 2026 at 11:00 AM. No application closing hour is expressly specified in the notification; do not imply an unofficial 5 PM or 11:59 PM cutoff. The authoritative notice is on UCO Bank's recruitment page, with the 13 October 2026 official PDF, NATS and the BFSI SSC/BEEP application site. Subsequent corrigenda and shortlists will appear on UCO's career website.
Important distinction: satisfying the stated exam minimum is not a job offer; actual engagement depends on State-wise/category-wise merit, eligibility evidence, local language (when applicable), verification and medical fitness. These are one-year apprenticeship training seats, not a permanent bank clerical recruitment.
