CRPF Sports Quota 2026 offers 521 HC/GD and CT/GD vacancies across 22 sports disciplines: 182 Head Constable and 339 Constable posts, with 408 male and 113 female seats. Applications open on 12 October 2026 at 09:00 and close on 11 November at 23:59. The key selection fact is that the Sports Trial is qualifying with no marks; final merit is driven by marks for the candidate's highest eligible sports achievement/certificate.

CRPF SPORTS QUOTA 2026 — 521 HC/GD & CT/GD POSTS WHERE THE TRIAL IS QUALIFYING, BUT THE CERTIFICATE SCORE DECIDES MERIT
Central Reserve Police Force Advertisement R.II-21/2026-Sports recruits meritorious male and female sportspersons for 182 Head Constable (General Duty) and 339 Constable (General Duty) vacancies. The posts are Group C, Non-Gazetted and Non-Ministerial, initially temporary and likely to be made permanent. They carry all-India service liability, including service abroad.
As of 08 October 2026, this recruitment is UPCOMING rather than open: the official application window starts on 12 October 2026 at 09:00 and closes on 11 November 2026 at 23:59. Correction/modification is scheduled for 12-14 November 2026.
1) THE 521 VACANCIES ARE NOT EVENLY SPLIT BETWEEN THE TWO POSTS - Head Constable (GD): 182 = 34.93% - Constable (GD): 339 = 65.07%
Gender split across both posts: - Male: 408 = 78.31% - Female: 113 = 21.69%
The notification gives male/female distribution but does not publish a post-wise vertical UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS vacancy table in the headline total. This record therefore does not manufacture caste-wise vacancy numbers.
2) THREE SPORTS DISCIPLINES ALONE HOLD MORE THAN 40% OF THE ENTIRE RECRUITMENT Official discipline totals: - Aquatics: 60 - Archery: 3 - Athletics: 101 - Badminton: 5 - Basketball: 16 - Body Building: 11 - Boxing: 20 - Football: 22 - Gymnastics: 12 - Handball: 12 - Hockey: 15 - Judo: 16 - Kabaddi: 27 - Karate: 17 - Shooting: 53 - Taekwondo: 14 - Volleyball: 20 - Water Sports: 20 - Weightlifting: 19 - Wushu: 20 - Wrestling: 26 - Yoga (Yogasana): 12
Largest disciplines: - Athletics: 101 = 19.39% - Aquatics: 60 = 11.52% - Shooting: 53 = 10.17%
These three alone account for 214 of 521 seats = 41.07%. Adding Kabaddi (27) and Wrestling (26) takes the top five to 267 seats = 51.25%. Applicants should therefore check the event/weight-category table inside their own sport rather than treating '521 vacancies' as one common pool.
3) EVENT/WEIGHT/GENDER/POST BREAKUP MATTERS MORE THAN THE 22-SPORT HEADLINE The official PDF goes beyond sport totals and allocates seats by event or weight category, male/female and HC/GD versus CT/GD. A Boxing, Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, Weightlifting or Wrestling candidate must match the exact notified weight/event; an Athletics, Shooting, Aquatics or Water Sports candidate must match the notified event. The grand total cannot be used to infer a vacancy in an unlisted event.
4) HC/GD AND CT/GD HAVE DIFFERENT EDUCATION AND DIFFERENT SPORTS-ACHIEVEMENT THRESHOLDS HC/GD requires 10+2/equivalent and the higher sports qualification routes described in Para 4, including international representation, recognised State/UT National-level medal/position, qualifying Inter-University achievement or Junior National Gold/Silver routes.
CT/GD requires Matriculation/equivalent and accepts a different sports route, including qualifying State representation at Senior/Junior Nationals, State School National Games achievement, authorised Khelo India achievement or University representation in Inter-University competition.
A sportsperson eligible for CT/GD should not assume that the same certificate automatically satisfies HC/GD.
5) EDUCATION AND SPORTS CERTIFICATES MUST ALREADY EXIST BY THE CLOSING DATE The applicant must possess the prescribed education and sports certificates by 11 November 2026. Candidates awaiting results or not in possession of the required certificates are not eligible. Where equivalence is claimed outside the standard Central/State Board framework, the notification requires supporting Government equivalence recognition.
6) ONLY A TWO-YEAR SPORTS ACHIEVEMENT WINDOW COUNTS The selection section defines the eligible sports period as 30 September 2024 to 30 September 2026. Old achievements outside that window may be prestigious but do not enter this recruitment's sports-merit score.
7) THE BIGGEST MERIT TRAP: MULTIPLE MEDALS ARE NOT SIMPLY ADDED CRPF awards marks for the candidate's one highest eligible medal/position/participation level. If a candidate has multiple medals, the notification does not permit simply adding all those points into one larger sports score. The highest scoring eligible achievement is what drives the final merit calculation.
This makes certificate quality more important than certificate quantity.
8) SPORTS TRIAL CARRIES ZERO MERIT MARKS The Sports Trial Test is qualifying. A candidate who fails the trial is out, but a candidate who performs brilliantly in the trial does not receive extra selection marks merely for the trial performance. The official notice says final merit is decided by the sports certificate/achievement marks.
This is a crucial difference from recruitments where a trial itself is scored.
9) THE SPORTS MARKING TABLE CAN CREATE VERY LARGE MERIT GAPS The notification's achievement scale reaches: - Olympics: Gold 100, Silver 96, Bronze 92, Participation 80 - World Championship/World Cup: 90/86/82/70 - Asian Games/Commonwealth Games: 80/76/72/60 - Asian/Commonwealth Championship/Cup: 70/66/62/50 - Youth Olympics: 60/56/52/40 - Youth/Junior World Championship/World Cup: 55/51/47/35 - Youth/Junior Asian/Commonwealth Championship: 50/46/42/30 - specified SAF/recognised international competition: 40/36/32/26 - National Games/Senior National Championship individual: 30/26/22/12 - National Games/Senior National Championship team: 26/22/18/8 - Youth/Junior National/Inter-University/School/Khelo India individual: 20/16/12/6 - corresponding team event: 16/12/8/4
So two candidates who both 'qualify as sportspersons' can enter merit with dramatically different certificate scores.
10) PREFERENCE ORDER ALSO FAVOURS THE STRONGER COMPETITIVE LEVEL The notification separately describes an order of preference beginning with recognised international representation, followed by qualifying Senior/Junior National achievement, then Inter-University/Khelo India and other listed routes. Senior National achievement gets preference over Junior National where the notice says so.
11) AGE IS 18-23 AS ON 01 AUGUST 2026 — AND THE PDF HAS A DATE-RANGE INCONSISTENCY The core eligibility table states age 18-23 as on 01 August 2026 and gives a normal DOB range of 02 August 2003 to 01 August 2008.
However, the later age-relaxation paragraph prints 02 January 2003 to 01 January 2008 while still stating the 01 August 2026 cut-off. Those January dates do not align with the August cut-off. This record does not silently 'fix' the official PDF: the structured age rule uses the explicit 18-23 years as on 01 August 2026, while this discrepancy is disclosed for applicants.
12) SPORTS-QUOTA AGE RELAXATION IS LARGE Notified relaxation for meritorious sportspersons: - UR: +5 years - OBC-NCL: +8 years - SC/ST: +10 years - Ex-Servicemen UR: +8 years after deduction of qualifying military service - Ex-Servicemen OBC: +11 years after deduction of qualifying military service - Ex-Servicemen SC/ST: +13 years after deduction of qualifying military service
Departmental candidates with three years continuous service have a separate relaxation rule. Category/certificate validity is judged on the closing date, 11 November 2026.
13) PHYSICAL STANDARD IS A REAL FILTER AFTER DOCUMENTATION Normal height: - Male: 170 cm - Female: 157 cm
Male chest: - Unexpanded: 80 cm - Minimum expansion: 5 cm
The notification gives lower height/chest standards for specified ST, North-East, LWE-affected, Garhwali/Kumaoni/Dogra/Maratha, Assam/HP/J&K/Ladakh and GTA categories. Weight must be proportionate to height and age. Candidates claiming physical-standard relaxation need the prescribed certificate at PST.
14) THERE IS A SAME-DAY PST APPEAL — BUT NOT A RE-TRIAL APPEAL A candidate declared not qualified in PST for height/chest may appeal on the same day to the nominated appellate authority. By contrast, the notification says an appeal for re-conduct of the Sports Trial Test will not be entertained.
Applicants should understand the difference before the recruitment day.
15) MEDICAL STANDARDS ARE STRICTER THAN A GENERIC 'FITNESS TEST' The notice requires minimum distance vision of 6/6 and 6/9 without spectacles/contact lenses, rejects colour blindness, and lists knock knee, flat foot, varicose veins and squint among disqualifying conditions. Tattoo acceptability is restricted by content, location and size rules in the notification.
16) THE RECRUITMENT CAN INCLUDE A DOPE TEST Candidates appearing in the sports trial may be subjected to a dope test on the day of trial. Trial proceedings are also subject to videography/photography.
17) DOCUMENTATION HAPPENS BEFORE PST The sequence begins with identity/biometric verification and original-document scrutiny. Candidates must produce original proof for age, education, caste/category, sports achievement and any physical/age relaxation. Missing prescribed originals can eliminate a candidate before PST or trial.
18) THE SPORTS CERTIFICATE MUST BE UPLOADED BEFORE APPLYING The application instructions require the candidate to upload the certificate/document supporting the highest medal/position or highest participation level in the CRPF recruitment profile before applying. Failure to upload the required sports proof can lead to rejection at scrutiny.
19) GOVERNMENT/SEMI-GOVERNMENT SPORTSPERSONS NEED NOC Candidates already serving in Government/Semi-Government employment have a proper-channel/NOC requirement. Failure to produce the prescribed NOC at documentation can result in rejection.
20) THERE IS A RS.1 LAKH / 3-YEAR SERVICE BOND Selected sportspersons must execute a Rs.1,00,000 bond undertaking to serve CRPF for at least three years before resigning for better employment or another ground, subject to the terms of the notification.
This is a meaningful exit-cost/service-commitment condition and should be considered before applying.
21) FEE EXEMPTION IS BROADER THAN JUST SC/ST - UR/OBC/EWS male candidates: Rs.100 - All female candidates: Nil - SC/ST candidates: Nil - Ex-Servicemen: Nil
Fee is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted to another recruitment.
22) THERE IS NO WRITTEN EXAM OR INTERVIEW IN THE PUBLISHED SELECTION ROUTE The published path is identity/biometric and documentation -> PST -> Sports Trial -> Detailed/Review Medical Examination, with final merit based on sports certificate/achievement marks. A generic 'written exam syllabus' section would therefore be misleading for this recruitment.
23) FINAL TIE-BREAKING GOES BEYOND AGE Merit is sports-score based. For tied cases the notice looks at stronger relevant achievement, including National competition where applicable; if still tied the older candidate gets priority, and if still tied English alphabetical order of name is used.
24) VACANCIES ARE TENTATIVE CRPF can increase or decrease vacancies during the recruitment process and can modify, cancel, postpone or reschedule stages. Applicants should keep checking the official recruitment portal rather than relying on a static third-party snapshot.
25) ALL-INDIA MEANS REAL SERVICE LIABILITY, NOT JUST ELIGIBILITY The notice expressly states that selected candidates can be required to serve anywhere in India or abroad. This is therefore correctly classified as all-India recruitment; it is not a single-state or state-wise posting drive.
APPLICANT DECISION CHECKLIST - Do not apply before the portal opens on 12 October 2026 at 09:00. - Choose HC/GD or CT/GD only after matching both education and the separate sports qualification standard. - Confirm that the relevant sports achievement falls inside 30 September 2024 to 30 September 2026. - Match the exact event/weight category in the 22-discipline vacancy table. - Upload the strongest eligible sports certificate in the CRPF recruitment profile before final application. - Do not assume multiple medals will be added together for merit. - Calculate age on 01 August 2026, while noting the internal DOB-range typo/inconsistency in the official PDF. - Check normal/relaxed height and chest standards before paying the fee. - Review eyesight, colour-vision and other medical standards before investing time in the process. - Government/Semi-Government candidates should arrange the prescribed NOC. - Budget the Rs.1 lakh service bond commitment if finally selected. - Remember that the trial is pass/fail for progression but does not itself add merit marks. - Use only rect.crpf.gov.in for the application, corrigenda and recruitment-stage updates.
BOTTOM LINE This is not a generic '521 constable vacancies' recruitment. The real selection logic is sports-certificate quality: one highest eligible achievement drives merit, the sports trial is qualifying with zero marks, exact event/weight vacancies matter, physical/medical screening can eliminate otherwise strong sportspersons, and final appointment carries a three-year Rs.1 lakh service bond plus all-India/abroad service liability.
