NIT Raipur 37 Non-Teaching Posts: 29 Technical Seats, 80-Mark Domain Tests and Two Qualifying Skills
NIT Raipur has 37 regular Group B/C non-teaching seats across six roles: 29 technical posts plus eight administration/support seats. Distinct 100-mark screening papers use a 20:80 split, 120 minutes and 0.25 negative marks; only Superintendent and Senior Assistant have a second, qualifying skill test. Application closes 30 Oct 2026 at 23:59. The official website displays a fee-revision notice, so original fee amounts are not treated as current until the revision is verified.

NIT Raipur 37-post recruitment: the exam, vacancy and qualification differences that change your application decision
Recruitment Notice No. NITRR/R-1/Advt./2026/1035 of 29 September 2026 opens direct recruitment to 37 regular Group B and Group C non-teaching vacancies, with online applications from 1 October through 30 October 2026 at 23:59. One official notice contains six distinct career profiles; they are grouped here as one recruitment item, not six duplicate public job articles. The Institute is an autonomous Institute of National Importance under India's Ministry of Education; those attributes should not be conflated with a state-government department.
Category accounting: 37 total, but only 8 administrative/support seats
| Post | UR | SC | ST | OBC | EWS | Total | 7th CPC level | Normal upper age |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Superintendent | 2 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 4 | 6 | 30 |
| Technical Assistant | 5 | 2 | 1 | 5 | 0 | 13 | 6 | 30 |
| Senior Assistant | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 4 | 33 |
| Senior Technician | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 4 | 33 |
| Technician | 7 | 2 | 0 | 5 | 1 | 15 | 3 | 27 |
| Office Attendant | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 3 | 1 | 27 |
| Total | 16 | 4 | 4 | 10 | 3 | 37 |
29 seats belong to Technical Assistant (13), Senior Technician (1), and Technician (15), leaving eight in Superintendent, Senior Assistant and Office Attendant combined. Technician is 15/37 (40.54%) of the entire notified intake, Technical Assistant 13/37 (35.14%). These percentages are independent arithmetic, not category quotas. An applicant should match both the advertised discipline and its reserved/unreserved vacancy, not just the job title.
One 100-mark pattern, different content and stage logic
All six profiles presently specify a two-hour, 100-question, 100-mark objective screening examination. Wrong answers lose 0.25 marks each; blanks have no negative marking. For five profiles, 20 marks are the common General Intelligence/Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Knowledge/Computer Awareness, English component; the remaining 80 marks address their specific administrative or technical discipline. Office Attendant is an important exception: its Part A is General Awareness and Reasoning (20), and Part B is Numerical Ability, English, Hindi and Computer Awareness (80). Treating the Office Attendant 80-mark Part B as engineering domain knowledge would waste preparation effort.
The Section B share is exactly 80%. Four mistakes cost one full mark, so indiscriminate guessing can erase an otherwise correct answer. At 120 minutes for 100 questions the arithmetic average is 72 seconds per question across the paper; the Institute has not given sectional clocks, so this is not an officially prescribed time per question.
Two posts have an additional qualifying practical gate, but the marks do not get added to merit
Superintendent (four seats) and Senior Assistant (one seat) must qualify a subsequent computer/typing skill assessment after shortlisting on the screening test. The Institute explicitly states final ranked merit is prepared solely using Stage-1 screening marks, subject to clearing the skill test. For Superintendent, Word/Excel is a 20-minute, 40-mark exercise. Minimum qualifying marks given are 14 for UR (35%) and 12 for the specified reserved groups (30%). For Senior Assistant, the additional 10-minute Hindi/English typing exercise uses a 350-word master passage and an error threshold: more than 7% errors for UR or 10% for specified reserved candidates means failure. It is followed by the same 20-minute English Word/Excel task. Hindi typing choice does not turn the Excel/Word task into a Hindi-language test.
There is no notified skill test in this advertisement for Technical Assistant, Technician, Senior Technician or Office Attendant. Their merit is determined by screening marks, subject to document verification and selection conditions. Tie-breaker order printed in the notice: higher Part-B marks, then the older applicant.
Qualification traps: six different eligibility profiles, not generic '10th/12th/graduate'
Superintendent: first-class bachelor's degree or any-discipline master's degree with at least 50% and computing ability. A master's route is an alternative to the first-class bachelor's route. Senior Assistant: recognised 10+2 plus 35 wpm typing and Word/Excel proficiency. Senior Technician: the single ST-reserved Chemistry slot requires 10+2 Science with Chemistry and at least 60%; it is not an all-trades opening. Office Attendant: recognised 10+2, without a notified ITI or degree requirement.
For Technical Assistant (13), eligibility changes by discipline: specified first-class BE/BTech; geology, biotechnology, chemistry or physics MSc alternatives in certain streams at the notified percentage; and first-class diploma alternatives specifically where listed. For Technician (15), alternatives depend on the branch and may include 10+2 with qualifying one-year ITI, Class X with qualifying two-year ITI, a three-year discipline diploma or Science 10+2 at specified marks. A single generic ITI diploma cannot qualify every advertised branch. The per-post section spells out the official qualifying subject families and levels; candidates must consult the branch table on page 2 of the original notification before selecting a specialisation in the form.
A non-obvious financial issue: fee-revision addendum supersedes the original fee figures
The original 29 September advertisement prints fees of Rs 2,360 for UR/OBC-NCL/EWS and Rs 1,770 for SC/ST/PwD, per post and specialisation. However NIT Raipur's official recruitment page currently shows a separate item titled "Notice - Revision of Application Fees" and an FAQ. The revised PDF is not retrievable in the current independent review; consequently the two ORIGINAL figures must not be represented as verified current payable fees. Check the latest revision notice and the official IBPS payment screen before payment. Structured fee amount fields are intentionally left empty rather than publish a potentially superseded charge. There is no basis to invent a fee concession or new amount. Each separately selected post or specialisation requires its own form and fee under the official instructions; fees once paid are non-refundable.
Age, eligibility cutoff, and certificates
Age and qualification are assessed at the online closing date 30 October 2026 unless the Institute officially revises the deadline. Normal maximum age is 30 for Superintendent/Technical Assistant, 33 for Senior Assistant/Senior Technician, and 27 for Technician/Office Attendant. SC/ST age relief is five years; OBC-NCL three years when applicable to the reserved vacancies; PwBD ten years, with 15 years for SC/ST PwBD and 13 years for OBC PwBD, as specified. Departmental relaxation may be up to five years, subject to the relevant Government instructions. Special concessions are not automatic for a candidate competing for a UR post. For OBC-NCL/EWS the original notice requires category certificates issued on or after 1 April 2026.
Application and complete job lifecycle: keep event dates unannounced
The Institute directs candidates to apply and pay through the official portal linked on its recruitment page; no physical application copy is required. Upload the required passport photo, signature, thumb impression and handwritten declaration, with an additional live photo capture as specified. Preview the form before final confirmation, pay through the portal and retain the generated e-receipt and downloaded application. An unsuccessful e-receipt means payment may be incomplete. Candidates seeking more than one listed specialisation should avoid silently choosing the wrong branch because the Institute does not transfer completed applications between profiles.
The announced lifecycle includes online application/payment, tentative screening examination, qualifying skill test for the two specified administrative posts, document verification after the examination, and fitness/medical assessment before appointment where required. Current materials do not publish dates for screening, call letters, results, appointment medical boards, or final joining. The Institute says the final selection modalities may be revised in the call letter and reserves the right to increase/decrease vacancies or not fill some posts. Do not invent numerical screening cutoffs or result/answer-key dates. An approved screening exam with undated event is distinct from a released admit card; the latter records must remain empty until actually issued.
Eligibility documents and appointment risks
NIT Raipur says scrutiny of eligibility documents generally takes place at the Institute after examination. A screening-test admit card does not prove final eligibility. Candidates serving in Central/State Government, PSU and autonomous institutions must bring a proper No Objection Certificate at certificate verification. Before joining, selected candidates may be examined by the Institute's medical board/medical officer for service fitness. The Institute may verify certificates and withdraw selection if claims are false even after an appointment letter. The cited vacancies are regular appointments, not two-year fellowships or training positions.
Official update policy
Original: Notice No. NITRR/R-1/Advt./2026/1035, 29 September 2026; institute official careers page https://nitrr.ac.in/advertisement.php and institute-linked IBPS application https://ibpsreg.ibps.in/nitrjul26/. The careers page is authoritative for the revision of application fees, FAQ, all further corrigenda, examination dates, call letters, screening information, post-exam DV and results. Do not attach exam/result information from a different NIT or a past recruitment notice to this cohort. Subsequent official changes should update this SAME recruitment source_key and slug rather than generate another recruitment page.
Applying in the IBPS portal: 15 November is a print-access date, not a hard-copy submission deadline
The Institute's advertisement states that registration and online fee payment close on 30 October 2026 at 23:59 and explicitly says no hard-copy submission is required. The Institute-linked IBPS recruitment portal separately lists 15 November 2026 as the last date for printing a submitted application. These dates perform different functions: online registration/payment must not be postponed until 15 November, and the later printing facility does not create any postal submission requirement. A submitted form without a successful payment e-receipt is not a completed fee transaction according to the advertised instructions. Save the application and its e-receipt promptly; the portal's later printing access should be treated as an administrative convenience, not an extended application window.
Exam entry is subject to strict name and identity matching
Pages 23–24 of the original notice say that the examination call letter is downloaded through the Institute's recruitment website using registration/roll details and password/date of birth after an official intimation; there is no announced call-letter release date in this advertisement. Bring the call letter, an original valid photo-ID and a photocopy of that same ID. The candidate name must match exactly. For a legal name change, the original Gazette notification, marriage certificate or affidavit may be needed; ration cards and learner's driving licences are not accepted photo IDs. Candidates reporting after the specified call-letter time are not admitted even though the examination lasts two hours: the notice warns that total on-site time can be approximately four hours for required formalities. Final date, session, venue and reporting instructions will come from a later official call letter.
Registration uploads, payment and accessible test arrangements
The original advertisement requires a recent photograph, a matching signature (not all capitals), a left-thumb impression and a handwritten English declaration, with additional live photograph capture on the application portal. It instructs candidates to download or print the completed form and the successful e-receipt. The candidate must not treat a payment attempt without a generated e-receipt as payment confirmation. Pages 24–26 also specify conditional scribe/compensatory-time arrangements for eligible disabilities, typically 20 compensatory minutes for every examination hour where authorized; the eligibility, advance registration and prescribed undertakings matter. These are exam-access arrangements and not a new age relaxation or a separate written-test cutoff.
Exam-score handling and future lifecycle records
The notice's examination instructions state that negative marks are deducted from objective-test scores and that multiple-session scores may be equated to address differences in paper difficulty. Candidates are allowed only one appearance per post; repeat appearance can cancel candidature. The institute states that question papers are not shared with candidates after the examination. No actual admit card, post-examination answer key, scorecard, numerical selection cutoff or final result is included in the 35-page notification. Create such linked lifecycle records only when the official recruitment page issues the corresponding update, and retain this job's existing source key and slug.
