A late arrival cannot rely on the website's 11:59 PM listing. Bring originals, not just photocopies. The interview may continue into later day(s) for candidates who registered on time; that is not a new registration opportunity.

1. Who can actually take part?

The invitation is to Indian nationals who already meet every eligibility requirement on the registration date. OIL seeks a registered MBBS practitioner, not an MD/MS specialist and not a candidate who has yet to finish internship. All three conditions must be fulfilled: MBBS qualification, at least one year of internship, and valid registration with the Medical Council of India/State Medical Council as worded in the notice. The notification sets no separate post-MBBS employment-experience threshold beyond the mandatory internship. Do not substitute a provisional college letter for the original records that the employer requires.

Age comparison: two different upper limits

Interpretation: The ST age ceiling is five years higher than the General ceiling, but the same 50-mark interview qualifying threshold applies to both categories. The age comparison is a threshold chart, not a forecast of selection chances. Class 10 board-issued admit card, pass certificate or marksheet containing date of birth is the only accepted proof of DOB; the notice says no alternative proof will be considered.

🔎 Two non-obvious points: First, UR does not mean a job barred to eligible reserved-category applicants; reservation category and individual eligibility still operate under applicable recruitment rules. Second, the notice lists PwBD suitability as OA, OL, OAL and Dw (one arm; one leg; one arm and one leg; dwarfism), while reservations for PwBD and ex-servicemen follow Government of India guidelines. It does not announce two more dedicated PwBD or ex-servicemen vacancies. Horizontal suitability must not inflate the total above two.

3. The 4 November walk-in is a two-gate process, not merely an interview appointment

Gate 1 — timed registration and originals check. Candidates must reach Duliajan Club, OIL Duliajan, on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, and complete registration within 7:00–9:00 AM. OIL checks information against original documents during registration. Anyone without essential originals, or found ineligible at scrutiny, is not allowed to sit the interview. Travel and accommodation are the candidate's responsibility; OIL pays no TA/DA for attendance and no joining-travel reimbursement.

Gate 2 — scored personal interview. The interview carries 100 marks, with 50 marks as the qualifying minimum for every category. OIL identifies indicative assessment themes: (i) knowledge/skills of the relevant medical discipline, (ii) knowledge/skills of allied disciplines, and (iii) personal attributes and soft skills. No separate marks distribution across these themes is published, so a 40/30/30 coaching-style blueprint would be invented.

Merit rule that matters: A score of 50/100 means eligibility for merit consideration, not appointment. OIL states that final selection is based on the actual interview marks among candidates reaching the pass threshold, subject to category vacancies and pre-engagement conditions. There is no published CBT, negative marking, written syllabus, separate practical marks, final selection cutoff or result date for this notice.

Registration overflow ≠ deadline extension. OIL may interview remaining already registered candidates on subsequent day(s) if attendance exceeds capacity. The official registration cutoff on 4 November does not move merely because an interview is carried over.

4. Original-document checklist: the avoidable disqualification risk

Bring both originals and one set of self-attested copies. The advertisement's last two pages are the actual Personal Bio-Data Form, not an external online application form. The checklist below follows pages 2–3 of that notice.

After selection: The employer also requires a Government-registered medical practitioner's fitness certificate and a police/character-and-antecedents verification report at engagement. A selected candidate already employed elsewhere needs the original release letter. EPF compliance additionally requires the selected person to give OIL their UAN. These are distinct from the 7–9 AM initial walk-in gate; carry documents relevant to your own status.

5. ₹85,000 per month — what this figure does, and does not, promise

The advertisement prints ₹85,000 per month as total contractual emoluments, comprising fixed plus variable components. It is not a Pay Matrix Level, basic-pay scale, take-home salary or guaranteed post-deduction credit. The official PDF does not split ₹85,000 into a fixed number and a variable number. That missing breakdown should not be guessed from a typical PSU payslip.

Conditions with direct monetary consequences: statutory EPF and gratuity provisions apply; individual tax obligations remain with the contractor; shared executive accommodation is provided; no TA/DA is payable for attending the interview. During maternity leave, the document says only the fixed component of contract emoluments is payable. Do not assume that the whole ₹85,000 continues unchanged during such leave. Candidates should assess the complete contract rather than compare this number with a regular government doctor's pay-matrix basic salary.

6. Contract tenure: 12 months initially, up to 24 months only conditionally

The one-year initial engagement is expressly temporary. OIL may extend it for two further six-month tenures, depending on departmental need, performance, conduct, fitness and other applicable requirements: 12 + 6 + 6 = 24 months maximum. Treat each six-month segment as a possibility, never as an entitlement or a renewal already approved.

This is not a permanent Maharatna PSU appointment: the contract expressly grants no claim to regularisation. Either party may terminate by giving 15 days' notice. The contract ends on expiry of the prescribed term without an additional notice being necessary. A selected candidate is expected to join immediately; after the stipulated joining date, OIL may allow up to 15 additional days, and non-joining even then cancels provisional selection.

OIL specifies shift and on-call duties, may place selected personnel wherever competent management considers fit, and prohibits other concurrent assignments during the contract. Leave entitlement is 10 days' paid leave for one year, with no more than six days at a time. These conditions are particularly important if comparing this offer with a conventional clinic or hospital position.

7. What to prepare for the 100-mark interview—without pretending there is a written syllabus

Use OIL's three actual assessment headings as the preparation boundary. For medical professional knowledge, prepare to discuss verifiable MBBS-level clinical reasoning and decisions grounded in your own training. For allied-discipline knowledge, be prepared to explain referral, coordination and appropriate escalation across clinical areas. For personal attributes and soft skills, practise clear explanation of experience, communication and shift/on-call readiness. For this advertisement, there is no online form, CBT, written question count, negative-marking scheme, separate admit-card release date or answer-key challenge window. Do not confuse the Class 10 admit card required as DOB proof with a recruitment interview call letter: they are entirely different documents. 8. Final applicant decision: three checks before spending on the Duliajan trip

1. Eligibility: MBBS, one-year internship, current MCI/SMC registration, Indian nationality and category-age limits must all be satisfied on 4 November.
2. Proof: original credentials, official bio-data, identity and address documents, photograph and applicable NOC/certificates must be ready; deficient originals can end the process before the interview.
3. Timing and economics: physically register before 9 AM, budget for travel without TA/DA, and accept that ₹85,000 is a temporary fixed-plus-variable contract amount and 50/100 is not a selection guarantee.
