Recruitment-specific overview from the published record.
Office of the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Vijayapura, Karnataka has invited online applications for 30 Peon / Jawana (ಜವಾನ) posts in the Vijayapura District Judicial Unit through Recruitment Notification No. 01/2026, Office Order No. 12884/2026, dated 31 October 2026. The notification was subsequently listed on the district court's recruitment page and online applications opened on 5 November 2026. The last date to complete the application, upload documents and pay any applicable fee is 4 December 2026 at 11:59 PM.
This is a direct, regular recruitment under the Karnataka subordinate courts service rules. The advertised salary scale runs from ₹27,000 to ₹46,675, plus allowances admissible under service rules; it is not a fixed consolidated stipend. Most importantly, the selection process is not a conventional competitive written examination: applicants are first shortlisted by their SSLC/recognised-equivalent marks, in an approximately 10-candidates-per-vacancy ratio within the applicable reservation categories, and those invited attend a 10-mark interview. The notification says selection is made on interview marks. Knowing the distinction between screening marks and selection marks is critical before applying.

The last-date distinction: The court has stated the closing time as 11:59 PM on 4 December, not merely “during office hours”. In addition, the court's recruitment notice says that information in an application cannot be altered once it is submitted. Check the Kannada spelling of the name, SSLC details, reservation claim, date of birth and percentage calculation before final submission.
The Karnataka roster is more specific than a simple “General/SC/ST/OBC” split. In particular, the 5 Scheduled Caste seats are expressly divided into SC-A: 2, SC-B: 1 and SC-C: 2, and the backward classes are divided into Category-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B. Combining these lines before examining the applicant's valid Karnataka caste certificate would discard meaningful distinctions in the notice.

The full roster above is a vertical reservation statement. A “General Merit” seat is an unreserved competition seat under applicable rules, not a reserved seat exclusively for someone who identifies as belonging to a general community. The 30 seats are subject to the notified roster and the applicable Karnataka court recruitment rules.
The original roster's second dimension is often missed when job summaries reproduce only the category total. The following nine columns in the official table collectively allocate the same 30 vacancies across open and special reservation labels. They do not create another 30 posts or increase the total to 60.

Practical interpretation: the rows (GM, SC-A, SC-B, SC-C, ST and backward classes) and columns (women, rural, Kannada-medium, disability, project displacement, ex-servicemen, sportspersons and transgender representation) describe the same individual vacancies from two viewpoints. A candidate should therefore check both the social-category row and the applicable special-reservation claim. The advertisement includes contingencies for unavailable eligible claimants in specified horizontal groups; these are not permission to choose or interchange reservations without proof. Two PwD roster places are marked with a particular specified locomotor-disability grouping. The roster also contains special notes on SC-C and eligible sports claimants. Refer to the original roster and certificates rather than assuming every disability or sporting achievement automatically qualifies for a marked seat.
Minimum education: passed SSLC/10th standard or an expressly recognised equivalent by 4 December 2026. The official notice cites the Karnataka Government's equivalence circular dated 27 February 2018, and specifically recognises the following: Karnataka SSLC; Class 10 through CBSE or ICSE; Class 10 through other state examination boards; the relevant secondary-level National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) course; and the notified Karnataka Open School (KOS) secondary qualification, subject to the recognition requirements stated in the notice.
An applicant whose 10th result has not been declared by the closing date does not satisfy the condition. For a NIOS/KOS or an affiliated secondary-course certificate, the applicant may have to produce evidence that the examining institution/course is recognised by the Karnataka Government in the relevant way. The notification does not list graduation, a computer diploma, driving licence, work experience or any specialised course as a mandatory substitute for SSLC.
Kannada literacy is an independent requirement. The applicant must be able to read and write Kannada. A qualifying SSLC mark sheet is important, but it does not remove the stated Kannada requirement.
The court first ranks eligible candidates by the percentage secured in the qualifying SSLC or accepted equivalent for interview shortlisting, in the notified reservation categories. The advertisement requires applicants with grades or CGPA to obtain a marks/percentage conversion record from the appropriate authority on or before 4 December 2026 and enter maximum marks, obtained marks and percentage correctly. Do not multiply a CGPA by a generic internet formula: use the official conversion document issued by the board/competent authority. The court has not notified a separate universal conversion factor in this advertisement.
| Candidate situation | Correct treatment |
|---|---|
| SSLC certificate and marks available | Enter the exact board, marks obtained, maximum marks and percentage |
| CBSE/ICSE/other State Board Class 10 | Check notified recognition/equivalence and keep the final marks document |
| NIOS/KOS or recognised equivalent | Keep recognition and qualifying-certificate evidence where required |
| Only a CGPA/grade available | Obtain the competent authority’s official marks conversion before the deadline |
| Awaiting final SSLC result | Not eligible at the application closing date |
| Can read Kannada but cannot write it | Does not meet the stated read-and-write condition |
The notice explicitly refers to the Karnataka Subordinate Courts (Ministerial and Other Posts) Recruitment Rules, 1982, and the 2007 and 2021 amendments. These provide the framework for the district judicial unit's direct recruitment.
Stage 1 — SSLC academic shortlisting. Using qualifying-examination percentages, the authority selects candidates with higher marks at approximately ten candidates per notified vacancy, respecting the relevant reservation. This is not a blanket guarantee that every applicant scoring an arbitrary percentage will be called. The roster is category-sensitive; the exact number of invitations ultimately depends on valid applications and the court's published shortlist.
Stage 2 — Interview, maximum 10 marks. The advertisement says selection is made on marks obtained in the interview. Do not mistake the SSLC percentage for a disclosed fixed percentage of the final interview score; the notice specifies its role in shortlisting, not an additive 90:10 or 50:50 combined score.
Stage 3 — Eligibility and certificate verification, selection and appointment. Qualified candidates will need to substantiate education, reservation and claims made in the application; the court will separately publish the candidate lists and interviews. No actual interview date, reporting hour, interview venue allocation or category-wise cutoff is published in this notification.
There is no advertised fixed written-exam paper. A general reference to eligibility examination/interview in candidate communication instructions does not constitute a definite syllabus, test date, subject-weightage or negative-marking scheme for this Peon recruitment. Applicants should not spend money on materials marketed as an “official 2026 Vijayapura Peon written syllabus”.
The crucial age date is 4 December 2026, the last application date. Candidates must be at least 18 years old by that date. The notification cites Karnataka Government Order dated 29 January 2026 allowing a one-time five-year upward relaxation, and states the resulting category-specific upper ages below.
| Applicant category | Maximum age on closing date |
|---|---|
| General Merit / general applicants | 40 years |
| Category-2A / 2B / 3A / 3B | 43 years |
| Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / Category-1 | 45 years |
Do not add five years again to these printed limits. Additional special-category relaxations are separately listed for eligible serving government/local-body staff, ex-servicemen, discharged NCC full-time instructors, specified rural-development service, persons with disabilities, certain census-service applicants, widows and released bonded labourers, where the prescribed documents and conditions are met. In particular, the notification mentions ten years for eligible PwD candidates and ten years for qualifying widows under the relevant service rules. An ordinary category alone does not establish eligibility for every extra relaxation.
The notified Karnataka judicial-unit pay scale is ₹27,000–650–29,600–725–32,500–800–35,700–900–39,300–1,000–43,300–1,125–46,675, plus other admissible allowances. It begins at ₹27,000 basic pay and progresses through defined pay increments under the service scale; ₹46,675 is the top of this advertised scale, not a guaranteed first-month in-hand salary.
The advertisement does not announce a fixed net take-home amount, city-specific HRA value, deductions table, or a uniform total for all appointments. It states that appointees will be subject to two years' probation from their joining date under applicable Karnataka service rules and will come within the National Pension System (NPS) arrangements referred to in the notification.

The charge is paid through the court's linked SBI e-Pay facility using net banking, a credit/debit card, UPI or QR-supported payment as offered. The notice does not accept cash, demand drafts, postal orders, money orders or challan as substitutes. The paid fee is non-refundable. Keep both the submitted application and the successful payment receipt: an unpaid application in a fee-liable category can be rejected.
The notice is unusually precise about image dimensions, not merely file types:
| Document | Stated format / size |
|---|---|
| Recent colour photograph | 5 cm high × 3.6 cm wide, white background, JPG, around 50 KB as notified |
| Signature on white paper | Black ballpoint pen; 2.5 cm high × 7.5 cm wide, JPG, around 25 KB as notified |
| SSLC/recognised equivalent marks card | Clear scanned PDF |
| Board-issued CGPA/grade conversion, if applicable | Obtain before 4 December and retain proof |
| Reservation certificates | Correct Karnataka-prescribed forms, valid by the application deadline |
| Sports, disability, rural, transgender, ex-servicemen or displaced-person claims | Relevant certificate in the prescribed recognised form, where claimed |
Important small details: Do not sign across the photograph. The scanned signature must actually match the applicant's handwritten signature. If claiming rural reservation, the official school/headmaster and competent education-authority certifications may be required; the notice expressly distinguishes Form 1 and Form 2 for the eligible General Merit rural claim. SC/ST certificate Form-D, Category-1 Form-E, and Category-2A/2B/3A/3B caste-and-income Form-F must follow the stated rules. Backward-category certificates must still be valid on closing day; the notice describes a five-year validity period for the specified Karnataka backward-class certificates.
An applicant claiming the designated PwD category needs the prescribed certification from the district-level medical board. Ex-servicemen must hold the appropriate discharge or release evidence by the last date. Specified sports achievers and transgender reservation claimants have their own official certification requirements. Do not select a reservation code merely because a broad category sounds applicable.
This is recruitment to the Vijayapura District Judicial Unit, not a statewide open-ended allocation to every Karnataka district court and not an all-India posting. The notice identifies the Peon/Jawana cadre, its pay scale and eligibility, but does not publish a separate task-by-task daily duty chart. Candidates should not confuse that absence with a promise of a specific posting inside the court compound or a guaranteed department assignment.
Selected applicants must follow the court's original-certificate requirements. The notice refers to character certificates from two respectable persons and the last educational institution, issued within the specified six-month window, and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from an eligible current employer if applicable. Candidates called for interview bear their own travel expenses; no fixed travel reimbursement is announced. The notification also says the process is subject to the applicable court orders referred to in its concluding provisions.
Is the interview worth only ten marks? Yes. The advertised interview is maximum 10 marks. The SSLC percentage is used in the earlier shortlisting stage. The notice does not prescribe any 100-mark written test.
Will every SSLC-qualified applicant attend the interview? No. Only the candidates shortlisted on qualifying examination percentage in the notified reservation ratio will be invited.
Can a CBSE, ICSE or NIOS student apply? The advertisement recognises listed equivalent Class 10 routes subject to its recognition terms. NIOS/KOS candidates should retain the documentation necessary to establish recognition when called.
Is there a minimum percentage such as 50%? No universal fixed SSLC percentage cutoff is prescribed in this notification. Actual interview invitation depends on the valid applications, marks and category-wise shortlist.
Is Kannada knowledge compulsory? Yes. Candidates must be able to read and write Kannada.
Will the court accept an unspecified CGPA conversion formula? Candidates need the conversion record from the relevant authority by the closing date, not an informal online estimate.
Can I add the one-time five-year age relaxation to 40/43/45? No. The printed upper ages already account for that relaxation. Other special concessions require their distinct legal conditions.
What happens if I pay the fee but the application details are wrong? The court cautions that submitted details cannot be changed. Payment alone does not cure an incorrect or incomplete application, and the fee is non-refundable.
Has the interview call letter or shortlist been released? No such release is specified in the original 31 October 2026 notification. Interview date, candidate shortlist and selection lists require separate publication by the recruiting court.

The Principal District and Sessions Court has notified 30 regular Peon/Jawana positions in Vijayapura under Notification 01/2026. They carry the prescribed ₹27,000–₹46,675 Karnataka pay scale with applicable allowances. Listed equivalence includes CBSE and ICSE Class 10, other state examination board Class 10, qualifying NIOS courses and Karnataka Open School, subject to the notice's recognition rules. The court asks applicants who possess a grade/CGPA record to obtain competent-authority marks conversion before the deadline; a candidate awaiting a qualifying result cannot apply.
