About this Recruitment
Recruitment-specific overview from the published record.
🐾 Wildlife Institute of India — 12 Research and Project Positions (Advertisement 2, 29 October 2026)
Official notice: WII/ADVT. 2/RP–CELL/October, 2026. Listed on the official institute website: 29 October 2026. Online application window: 30 October–13 November 2026; no exact end-of-day clock time is printed. Recruiter: Wildlife Institute of India, Chandrabani, Dehradun, an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. These are temporary research-project engagements, not permanent Government-service appointments. The announcement is separate from WII/ADVT. 1/RP–CELL/October 2026 for 19 earlier positions; candidates should never use the older 1 November deadline for this new 12-seat cycle.
📋 First, understand the real count
The PDF describes 12 project positions, arranged in 11 numbered role entries over six different projects. Only role 04(2) has two vacancies; each other entry has one. A project header is not a separate job. The six projects span the Morand–Ganjal irrigation landscape, critically endangered White-bellied Heron river habitats in Arunachal Pradesh, Sijimali mine impact planning in Odisha, Yettinahole water-project mitigation in Karnataka, Saranda Forest Division in Jharkhand, and Nanda Devi Himalayan biodiversity in Uttarakhand. This breadth does not make the essential degrees interchangeable.
📊 Vacancy distribution — every seat, project and job family
📊 Project-wise vacancy share — 12 actual seats
| Project cluster | Vacancies |
|---|---|
| Morand–Ganjal wildlife mitigation | 3 |
| White-bellied Heron river conservation | 1 |
| Sijimali bauxite mine wildlife planning | 1 |
| Yettinahole drinking-water mitigation | 3 |
| Saranda forest biodiversity, Jharkhand | 3 |
| Nanda Devi biodiversity conservation | 1 |
📊 Which appointment grade accounts for the 12 vacancies?
📊 Role-family share of all 12 notified project seats
| Role family | Vacancies |
|---|---|
| Project Associate-I | 8 |
| Project Associate-II | 1 |
| Senior Project Associate | 1 |
| Principal Project Associate | 1 |
| Administrative Assistant | 1 |
The eight PA-I seats are spread across several project locations and do not have interchangeable subject qualifications. The role-family chart counts each advertised seat exactly once; it does not count a fee category or a NET/GATE remuneration option as an extra vacancy.
The forest impact plans involve specialist field observations, project coordination and evidence-based reporting. Use the code 01(1) or 05(2) printed beside each role when comparing course eligibility; generic “Project Associate” headlines omit necessary distinctions.
🗓️ Application dates, mode and non-refundable fees
Applications open 30 October 2026 and close 13 November 2026 online at the official WII-RP Cell link. Neither an invented 5 PM closing hour nor a postal alternative should be used. Applicants may apply to a maximum of two positions, subject to degree and experience fit, with a separate form, fee and evidence for each. Fee is ₹500 for General category; applicants from SC/ST/OBC/EWS and Physically Challenged (PC) categories are exempted from that general fee but still pay ₹100 application processing fee. Both payments are non-refundable. Attach the required payment receipt in each online form. Payment must follow the account/UPI particulars shown in the official PDF; verify the recipient carefully and keep transaction evidence.
Applicant document checklist

For a year-long project, specify seasonal milestones, field-safety triggers, spatial-data QA, stakeholder schedules and report review. Demonstrate cross-disciplinary leadership without inventing tender or licensing authority. Avoid eligibility error: Doctoral route has FOUR years AFTER doctorate; unlike the Morand Senior Project Associate, a doctorate alone does not satisfy this role.
04(2) — Project Associate-I — Yettinahole Field Research (2 seats)
Project: Preparation of Wildlife Mitigation/Management Plan for the Yettinahole Drinking Water Project in Hassan and Tumkur Districts, Karnataka. Deployment focus: Yettinahole drinking-water project ecological mitigation; published place/project region: Karnataka. Initial project tenure: one year. Maximum age: 35 years before relevant age relaxation. Monthly project pay: ₹30,000 (non-NET/GATE) / ₹37,000 (NET/GATE) + HRA. These are emoluments, not salary-band basic pay.

Notified work: Support two project-associate assignments on field research, ecological surveys, data analysis and technical reporting for Yettinahole project mitigation/management. How to assess role fit: Focus on reproducible sampling and data stewardship: field forms, detection conditions, map coordinates, transect effort, observation checks, photo logs and concise data summaries. Work up a sample issue-response note for mammal, bird and habitat observations in a water-project corridor; ensure inference does not exceed the measured data. Avoid eligibility error: There are TWO vacancies under a single profile; do not split them into two imaginary posts.
05(1) — Project Associate-I (Vegetation) — Saranda Forest (1 seat)
Project: Assessment and Monitoring of Biodiversity Values in Saranda Forest Division, West Singhbhum District, Jharkhand. Deployment focus: Saranda vegetation, community studies and insect biodiversity; published place/project region: Jharkhand. Initial project tenure: one year. Maximum age: 35 years before relevant age relaxation. Monthly project pay: ₹30,000 (non-NET/GATE) / ₹37,000 (NET/GATE) + HRA. These are emoluments, not salary-band basic pay.
Accepted essential qualification alternatives: Route A: Four-year NEP Bachelor’s in notified natural/forest sciences, including Botany OR Route B: Master’s in Natural Sciences, Botany, Agricultural or Forestry Sciences. Desirable: Vegetation sampling especially in protected and eco-sensitive zones, habitat assessment, GIS, GPS-based field data and technical reporting.
Notified work: Vegetation collection, forest habitat assessment, ecological data analysis and Saranda biodiversity monitoring report preparation. How to assess role fit: Prepare practical quadrat or transect sample designs, record GPS position, canopy/ground vegetation, species identification certainty and regeneration structure. Note disturbance, sampling intensity, season, repeated observation and reference-site selection. Design a vegetation-data sheet with metadata and reproducible summaries; do not present these examples as a published test syllabus. Avoid eligibility error: Accepted vegetation degrees explicitly include Botany and Forestry; do not replace them with a generic Social Sciences degree.
05(2) — Project Associate-I (Social) — Saranda Tribal-Area Surveys (1 seat)
Project: Assessment and Monitoring of Biodiversity Values in Saranda Forest Division, West Singhbhum District, Jharkhand. Deployment focus: Saranda vegetation, community studies and insect biodiversity; published place/project region: Jharkhand. Initial project tenure: one year. Maximum age: 35 years before relevant age relaxation. Monthly project pay: ₹30,000 (non-NET/GATE) / ₹37,000 (NET/GATE) + HRA. These are emoluments, not salary-band basic pay.
Accepted essential qualification alternatives: Route A: Four-year Bachelor’s in notified Social Sciences including Social Work/Anthropology/Economics OR Route B: Master’s in notified Social Sciences including Social Work/Anthropology/Economics. Desirable: Natural-resource governance; community and stakeholder consultation; qualitative/quantitative surveys and official documentation.
Notified work: Work on social survey design and community consultations in tribal-dominated Saranda areas, analysis of responses and conservation report support. How to assess role fit: Prepare a consent-sensitive household/stakeholder survey framework that separates respondent privacy from analytical records. Define sampling frame, tribal/community language needs, female and vulnerable voices, transcription safety, descriptive analysis and reporting of disagreement or uncertainty. Never infer community consent from individual interviews or promise access/benefits; these are research ethics, not an advertised legal permission. Avoid eligibility error: Four-year Social Sciences Bachelor’s OR Social Sciences Master’s is essential; Biology-only degrees are not stated for this specialist role.
05(3) — Project Associate-I (Entomology) — Saranda Insect Monitoring (1 seat)
Project: Assessment and Monitoring of Biodiversity Values in Saranda Forest Division, West Singhbhum District, Jharkhand. Deployment focus: Saranda vegetation, community studies and insect biodiversity; published place/project region: Jharkhand. Initial project tenure: one year. Maximum age: 35 years before relevant age relaxation. Monthly project pay: ₹30,000 (non-NET/GATE) / ₹37,000 (NET/GATE) + HRA. These are emoluments, not salary-band basic pay.
Accepted essential qualification alternatives: Route A: Four-year natural/forest science BSc with relevant notified disciplines OR Route B: Natural Science/Agriculture/Forestry Master’s including Zoology, Ecology and Life Sciences. Desirable: Pan trapping, light trapping, insect identification, specimen curation, ecological data analysis and GPS/GIS field reporting.
Notified work: Plan and assist pan- and light-trap sampling, preserve specimen metadata, laboratory sorting/identification, biodiversity analyses and Saranda research reporting. How to assess role fit: Compare attraction biases in light traps with colour/pan-trap effects, documenting date/time, weather, habitat, light intensity, sampling duration and effort. Prepare a specimen chain-of-custody log with lab IDs and uncertain taxon identifications; demonstrate careful handling, permitted sampling and ecological comparability rather than claiming any trapping method has been mandated as an exam test. Avoid eligibility error: Entomology specialist role includes insect trapping and laboratory specimen processing.
06(1) — Project Associate-I — Nanda Devi Himalayan Biodiversity (1 seat)
Project: Biodiversity Conservation of Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of MoEFCC. Deployment focus: Nanda Devi alpine/himalayan biodiversity, floristic surveys and physical fieldwork; published place/project region: Uttarakhand. Initial project tenure: one year. Maximum age: 35 years before relevant age relaxation. Monthly project pay: ₹30,000 (non-NET/GATE) / ₹37,000 (NET/GATE) + HRA. These are emoluments, not salary-band basic pay.
Accepted essential qualification alternatives: Route A: Recognised Master’s in notified Natural Sciences including Botany. Desirable: Biodiversity/floristic survey experience, ecological data analyses and scientific reporting.
Notified work: Conduct biodiversity/floristic surveys, remote Himalayan field data collection, literature review, ecological analysis and reports under Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve biodiversity conservation project. How to assess role fit: Develop an elevation-stratified Himalayan floristic survey design, considering alpine/forest gradients, altitude-related safety, phenology, access limitations and weather windows. Record GPS altitude source, species identity confidence, repeated effort and field logistics. The official notice expressly states physical fitness is a prerequisite to conducting remote Himalayan fieldwork; it does NOT announce a quantified physical-fitness test. Avoid eligibility error: This specific Nanda Devi role requires Master’s in the given Natural Sciences fields; a four-year BSc alone is not an advertised alternative.
⏳ Age ceilings vary by post group
📈 Advertised upper-age limits by post family
| Post family | Upper age in years |
|---|---|
| Project Associate-I and II | 35 |
| Senior and Principal Project Associate | 40 |
| Administrative Assistant | 50 |
These are advertised base maxima; the original notice does not clearly state a universal age-reckoning calendar date. Allowances for eligible reserved categories are subject to its stated rules and proof, not automatic age changes for every applicant.
💰 Pay and project tenure — not a regular pay scale
WII salary bands are determined by the particular numbered role, and for Project Associate-I/II by NET/GATE status. The PDF expressly shows ₹30,000/₹37,000 + HRA for PA-I, ₹33,000/₹42,000 + HRA for PA-II, ₹57,000 + HRA for Morand senior, ₹67,000 + HRA for Yettinahole principal and ₹24,000 + HRA for the Sijimali Administrative Assistant. No in-hand take-home amount, DA, permanent pay level or guaranteed increment is specified.
📈 Published monthly remuneration — conditional pay routes in INR
| Role and conditional pay route | Monthly amount (INR) |
|---|---|
| Administrative Assistant | 24000 |
| Project Associate-I without NET/GATE | 30000 |
| Project Associate-I with NET/GATE | 37000 |
| Project Associate-II without NET/GATE | 33000 |
| Project Associate-II with NET/GATE | 42000 |
| Senior Project Associate | 57000 |
| Principal Project Associate | 67000 |
Read the chart correctly: seven pay choices are not seven extra positions, and NET/GATE conditional rates are not a simple rank-based selection score. HRA is additional as permitted; the notice does not provide a universal numeric HRA rate. All Morand–Ganjal engagements are six months. Other project roles are generally one year, with specific likely-extension statements for Saranda/Nanda Devi conditioned on funding; “likely” is not an enforceable renewal guarantee.
📑 Documentary shortlisting — not a written examination
The PDF publishes a 50-mark shortlisting system for candidate screening prior to online interview. There is no notified CBT, written paper, common exam syllabus, negative marking or pass percentage. The applicable bands must not be combined into a fictional universal rubric.
📊 Project Associate-I shortlisting rubric — 50 marks
📈 PA-I screening: academic score versus project relevance
| PA-I screening component | Maximum marks |
|---|---|
| Master’s degree percentage | 25 |
| Relevant subject and project experience | 25 |
Important qualification-versus-scoring distinction: Some PA-I positions also allow a relevant four-year NEP Bachelor’s. The published PA-I shortlisting matrix nonetheless refers to Master's percentage; WII must clarify application of those marks to eligible four-year-Bachelor applicants. Do not treat this visualization as an invented equivalence or as a written-exam paper.
📊 PA-II, Senior and Principal screening rubric — 50 marks
📈 Advanced associate shortlisting: four documentary criteria
| Advanced screening component | Maximum marks |
|---|---|
| NET / JRF / WII-NET credential | 5 |
| Postgraduate academic performance | 25 |
| Relevant experience | 10 |
| Research publications | 10 |
Total: 50 marks in this specific advanced-associate screening method. The chart does not imply that a NET/JRF or publication is mandatory for a position unless the position's own essential qualification says so. Documentary shortlisting is not a CBT or final interview score.
The 50-mark rules as three distinct methods
Field/Lab/Project Assistant category: 25 for Bachelor marks + 25 for demonstrated project-relevant specialisation (internship, volunteering or past work may support it). This is pertinent to Administrative Assistant only insofar as WII classifies that role under project-assistant screening; the PDF does not explicitly give a separate numeric administrative role formula, so confirm applicability with WII.
Project Associate-I category: 25 for Master’s marks + 25 for subject/project relevance. Important unresolved nuance: several PA-I entries expressly accept either a four-year NEP Bachelor’s or a Master’s; the printed shortlisting matrix nevertheless says Master’s percentage. WII has not stated an alternative numeric conversion for otherwise eligible four-year Bachelor candidates. It would be wrong to invent such a score—ask WII how eligible four-year Bachelor applicants are evaluated before assuming a zero or full Master’s mark.
Project Associate-II, Senior Project Associate and Principal Project Associate: 5 for specified NET/JRF/WII NET qualification; 25 for postgraduate marks; 10 for substantiated research/work experience; 10 for publications (journal, conference, book chapter and allied evidence). This totals 50, not 100. An accepted B.E./B.Tech route for the GIS post and the doctorate-route alternatives require WII’s interpretation of postgraduate-degree scoring where the matrix wording is not a perfect fit. The advert does not give an algebraic conversion, so no substitute is supplied here.
The notice says top ten shortlisted candidates for each advertised project/position are called for online interview. This is top ten per numbered role, not 10 overall for the 12 seats, and it is not an announced written-exam cut-off. Shortlist and interview results appear on WII's Latest News & Announcements web page; dates were not printed when this notice was published.
🧭 Exam, syllabus, admit card, answer key, result and joining lifecycle
Written Examination: Not announced. Treat it as not applicable on the published route unless WII issues a subsequent update; do not create fabricated exam records. Official written syllabus: Not specified. For interview preparation, align reading with the role’s actual ecology, GIS, field sampling, social research, or administration responsibilities rather than advertising an imaginary multiple-choice paper. Admit card: no written-exam card or release date announced; shortlisted online-interview communications will follow WII updates. Answer Key: no objective examination announced, so no notified answer-key event. Cutoff: the 50 marks are screening rubric maximum, not a guaranteed selection cut-off. Shortlist: WII expects top ten for each project/role; online interview is conducted by a duly constituted committee. Result: WII will publish interview results; no fixed results date. Joining: original-document verification followed by an offer; selected candidates join within the specific offer-letter deadline. Medical/physical: remote Himalaya fitness is a stated job requirement, but there is no advertised running distance, height or medical-merit marks.
🎤 Preparing for the actual online interview
Interviewers may test field/project skill and the evidence underlying submitted claims. There is no formally published interview question bank or marking pattern. A useful work-sample portfolio could include (1) a one-page spatial map with legend, sampling method and accuracy notes for GIS applicants; (2) a vegetation or entomological survey method and specimen metadata for Saranda science applicants; (3) privacy-respecting community consent/sampling plan for the Saranda Social role; (4) a riverine rare-species observation and habitat-notes template for the White-bellied Heron project; (5) an administrative project-expense or logistics tracking example for the Sijimali assistant; (6) a project monitoring matrix, staffing plan and publication record for Senior/Principal roles. These are editorial preparation suggestions, NOT announced mandatory WII tasks or extra examinations.
🧾 Original documents, temporary appointment and risks
WII requires originals during joining. Misrepresentation, omitted essential proof or canvassing may lead to disqualification, including after selection. Age relaxation: SC/ST up to five years, OBC up to three years under applicable GoI rules; no blanket new quota or exact EWS age-relaxation number is stated. WII can consider a lower-grade role if recommended by the committee with competent-authority approval, but applicants cannot demand it. Project roles cease with the project; joining/renewal do not create permanent service rights.
❓ Recruitment-specific FAQs
1. Is this the same as the 19 WII research positions advertised earlier in October?
No. The current PDF has Advt. 2 dated/listed 29 October and 12 seats, with online closing 13 November. WII Advt. 1 was issued earlier for 19 positions and has a different deadline.
2. Are there 11 or 12 openings?
The PDF counts 12 vacant positions under 11 separately numbered role profiles: 04(2) Yettinahole Project Associate-I is 2 seats; all other profile entries are 1 each.
3. Can I submit the application on 29 October?
The institute lists the notice on 29 October but states the online application opening date as 30 October 2026. Submit after the application portal opens.
4. What is the exact closing time on 13 November?
The notification states the closing date but does not publish a specific clock time. Avoid invented 5 PM/11:59 PM claims and submit well before the last day.
5. Can I apply for three projects with one fee?
No. Maximum two advertised roles, each with separate online application, document uploads and application/processing fee receipt.
6. Is the fee zero for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD?
No. General pays ₹500. SC/ST/OBC/EWS and PC applicants are exempt from that fee but owe ₹100 application processing fee.
7. Does one-year tenure mean permanent WII employment?
No. These are temporary projects, generally one year or six months for Morand roles; extensions are contingent and permanent appointment is not promised.
8. What is the GIS role qualification?
Either the notified Master’s degree plus 2 years post-Master R&D, OR an accepted B.E./B.Tech branch plus 2 years post-Bachelor R&D. Both routes need two years after the respective qualifying degree.
9. Does a PhD remove all experience conditions?
Not universally. Senior Project Associate 01(1) accepts an independent recognised Science doctoral route. Principal Project Associate 04(1) explicitly requires four years post-doctoral R&D under its PhD alternative.
10. Is a four-year Bachelor eligible for Saranda Social?
Yes, a four-year Social Science degree in notified areas is an alternative to the matching Master’s. It is not the same degree rule as Saranda Vegetation or Entomology.
11. Can a three-year BSc substitute for an advertised four-year NEP Bachelor?
Not on the notice text alone. Use a Master’s if held and accepted; do not silently treat a three-year BSc as the four-year route.
12. Do candidates with NET/GATE receive the higher advertised project rate?
The PA-I and PA-II salary listings provide higher rates for NET/GATE-qualified candidates. Check certificate eligibility and provide evidence; the relevant amounts are not separate seats.
13. Is there a WII recruitment CBT on 13 November?
No. That date is the application deadline, and this advertisement specifies documentary shortlisting and online interview, not a CBT.
14. How does a four-year Bachelor candidate get marks in the PA-I shortlisting Master’s-25 column?
The official wording does not resolve this tension. Do not fabricate a rule: obtain clarification from WII RP Cell rather than assuming a replacement or automatic rejection.
15. Where will interview shortlists and results be posted?
WII Latest News & Announcements at wii.gov.in/news. No confirmed shortlist or interview date is included in this advertisement.
16. Are Nanda Devi physical-fitness exam standards printed?
No numerical physical-test distance, height or fitness score is published, although capacity for demanding remote mountain fieldwork is explicitly relevant.
17. Is an NOC compulsory for everyone?
The advert specifically asks existing WII project/research staff and PhD scholars for a recent NOC, and former WII workers for a No Dues certificate; do not extend those categories to every applicant without authority.
18. What if I do not upload a fee receipt?
The notice states missing payment/processing fee receipt leads to rejection; preserve evidence per separate role application.
19. Is an Administrative Assistant required to have a science Master’s?
No. Role 03(1) accepts graduation in any discipline. Prior office and field coordination is desirable, not a new compulsory scientific degree.
20. Can WII offer another lower grade if I am not suitable for my chosen post?
Possibly, only on Interview Committee recommendation and competent-authority approval. It is not an entitlement.
21. What will the selected applicant bring at joining?

🦌 Senior Project Associate — Morand-Ganjal Wildlife Mitigation — WII Research Recruitment 29 October 2026
📌 1. Official role and project context
Position code 01(1) in official WII Advertisement 2 October 2026 carries 1 vacancy, affiliated to Study the Impacts of Morand-Ganjal Irrigation Project on Wildlife and Preparation of Wildlife Mitigation Plan in Madhya Pradesh. The recruitment is for a six-month temporary project rather than civil-service cadre admission. The institution has not published reservation categories per individual role; do not infer an SC, ST, OBC, EWS or UR seat roster from fee categories. Exact project title is important because experience and accepted degree domains can differ even within the same WII advertisement.

| Application window | 30 October – 13 November 2026, online only |
🎓 2. Essential qualifications and separate degree routes
- A. Recognised Master’s in Natural Sciences or Agricultural Sciences AND four years of relevant R&D/scientific experience after Master’s
- B. Recognised Doctoral Degree in Science — alternative to Master’s-plus-four-years route
Decision rule: Each published alternative is independent. If your degree fits a named route, check that route’s duration/discipline and any post-qualification experience. Do not add years from a different alternative or ignore the four-year NEP Bachelor distinction. The WII notice does not specify a universal percentage minimum for the underlying degree; shortlisting can nevertheless award marks based on degree percentages. Your recognition, mark sheet, course duration and award date must be supported by authentic documents.
Relevant experience and preferences: Four years relevant post-Master R&D under Master route; recognised Science doctorate is separate accepted alternative without added published experience years. Desirable project fit: Wildlife/ecology research, R statistical and spatial ecological modelling, multidisciplinary field-team management, refereed journal publications.. A desirable capability is not an invented additional mandatory certificate; if the notice explicitly requires post-degree years (01(1), 01(2), 04(1)) the period cannot be replaced by a general interest statement.
🔬 3. Project-specific work and practical outputs
Help direct field teams and collect defensible wildlife-impact evidence; design surveys, coordinate field logistics, analyse findings, prepare mitigation-plan reporting. The role sits within Morand-Ganjal irrigation project wildlife impacts and mitigation planning. Applicants should be able to discuss how they will collect defensible evidence, report uncertainty, safely coordinate with their PI/team and preserve raw data for review. Illustrative responsible practice: Design a survey matrix covering habitat, wildlife signs, project footprint and seasons; specify sampling location and effort. Use R to distinguish observed change from detection bias; make a georeferenced project-impact map and a concise recommendation table with uncertainty and limitations. Keep field-team safety, permissions, metadata and peer review central. These are examples of professional readiness based on the published work, not a claim that WII has issued a hidden practical examination or fixed research deliverable list.
💰 4. Actual monthly pay, age and contract limits
Monthly remuneration: Official project monthly emoluments: ₹57,000 plus HRA. Not permanent basic pay; in-hand Not specified. Published maximum age: 40 years, subject to GoI/DoPT relaxation (SC/ST up to five, OBC up to three; additional category interpretation per official rules). Project tenure: 6 months; the first three Morand role entries carry only six months and no blanket extension is printed. There is no notified in-hand pay, permanent absorption commitment, uniform leave settlement or guaranteed increment. Age reckoning date is not explicitly provided: do not invent a birthday cutoff.
🧾 5. Post-specific application documents
Submit at the WII-RP Cell online portal only between 30 October and 13 November 2026. General applicant fee ₹500; SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PC ₹100 non-refundable processing fee, plus upload the payment receipt. Maximum two roles are permitted, with distinct forms/receipts. Include degree transcripts that prove the selected route, certificate of any explicitly required post-degree R&D (start/end dates and supervisor), documentary desirable field experience, NET/GATE/JRF evidence if relevant, publication proof when claimed, photo/signature, age and reservation evidence. Active WII project workers/PhD scholars require a fresh NOC; former WII workers a No Dues certificate.
Project-specific proof to emphasise: Wildlife/ecology research, R statistical and spatial ecological modelling, multidisciplinary field-team management, refereed journal publications.. Treat a published preference as evidence to submit, not grounds for making up a new mandatory minimum qualification.
🧭 6. Documentary screening to project joining
WII screens documented eligibility first. The PA-I category uses a published 50-point shortlist with Master’s percentage 25 and relevant specialisation 25, even though certain roles accept four-year Bachelor alternatives; no new substitution formula is announced. For PA-II, Senior and Principal categories, the printed 50-point pattern is NET/JRF/WII NET 5 + postgraduate degree % 25 + research/work experience 10 + publications 10. Administrative Assistant does not have a separate published numerical administrative score; the general Field/Lab/Project Assistant 25+25 criteria should not be automatically asserted without WII classification. The top ten by project/position are expected to receive an online interview; WII decides suitability. No CBT, written paper pattern, answer key, admit-card release date, final selection cutoff, or interview marks split is published.
After the online interview, WII posts shortlisted/results updates to its news page, requires original-document verification at joining, and sets the candidate’s start deadline individually by offer letter. A committee may recommend a lower grade only with approval—never a guaranteed right. These project roles end with the funded project; no regular WII appointment is promised.
🦌 Evidence-led preparation for 01(1) (editorial guidance)
- Practical domain example: A wildlife-impact evidence plan should distinguish confirmed species detections from indirect signs, tag each record with location/season and connect proposed mitigation to the measured irrigation-project footprint.
- What to check in the application: For this senior post, highlight post-Master R&D or the separate PhD pathway with dates, authorship and leadership evidence; a general wildlife interest statement cannot substitute for the experience route.
These are preparation illustrations based on the project description and not an independently notified written exam, added eligibility requirement or guaranteed interview question.
🎤 7. Research-oriented interview preparation (not official questions)
Practice prompt 1: How would you separate irrigation-infrastructure impact from natural seasonal wildlife change? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
Practice prompt 2: Which R/spatial analyses would be defensible with unequal sampling effort? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
Practice prompt 3: How would you lead and quality-check simultaneous field teams during a six-month assignment? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
⚠️ 8. Frequent eligibility and evidence errors
- Do not treat a Master’s by itself as sufficient for this senior assignment; the other route is a recognised Science doctorate.
- Do not translate “four years after Master’s” into four years of any earlier experience, internship or course work.
- Six-month project duration is unusually short; no extension or permanent position is assured.

🛰️ Evidence-led preparation for 01(2) (editorial guidance)
- Practical domain example: A strong GIS portfolio could display properly projected layers, raster/vector validation, image dates, habitat change metrics and a map legend showing uncertainty. Name tools and supply a concise methodology rather than unreferenced maps.
- What to check in the application: For the two-year R&D condition, present dated post-degree appointment/experience evidence; do not count a university training module as a completed professional research year.

⚠️ 8. Frequent eligibility and evidence errors
- Two years post-qualifying relevant R&D is expressly compulsory for BOTH the Master’s and B.E./B.Tech alternatives.
- Engineering fields listed in the PDF, not every engineering branch or generic BCA, are automatically eligible.
- The higher ₹42,000 figure is tied to NET/GATE qualification; ₹33,000 applies otherwise.

🔎 Evidence-led preparation for 01(3) (editorial guidance)
- Practical domain example: For wildlife surveys, discuss repeatable transect or sign-survey design, sampling effort, GPS error, species-identification confidence and how observations would inform a mitigation report.
- What to check in the application: This PA-I profile lacks a stated compulsory multi-year R&D requirement; distinguish desirable field aptitude from essential education, including any separately permitted degree route.
These are preparation illustrations based on the project description and not an independently notified written exam, added eligibility requirement or guaranteed interview question.

⚠️ 8. Frequent eligibility and evidence errors
- The notice gives an accepted Master’s route but does not prescribe a separate mandatory experience-year count.
- Project Associate-I is not automatically eligible for Project Associate-II just because roles share a project title.
- Do not treat desirable project-management skills as a separate compulsory diploma.

🐦 Project Associate-I — White-bellied Heron Habitat Conservation — WII Research Recruitment 29 October 2026
📌 1. Official role and project context
Position code 02(1) in official WII Advertisement 2 October 2026 carries 1 vacancy, affiliated to Conservation Plan for the Critically Endangered White Bellied Heron (Ardea insignis) and its Habitats in the Lohit River and Noa-Dehing River Basins in Arunachal Pradesh. The recruitment is for a one-year temporary project rather than civil-service cadre admission. The institution has not published reservation categories per individual role; do not infer an SC, ST, OBC, EWS or UR seat roster from fee categories. Exact project title is important because experience and accepted degree domains can differ even within the same WII advertisement.
✅ Quick reference for this exact numbered vacancy
| Applicant checkpoint | Verified entry |
|---|---|
| WII notification position | 02(1) |
| Actual number of vacancies | 1 |
| Advertised upper-age ceiling | 35 years (subject to applicable concessions) |
| Monthly advertised remuneration | ₹30,000–₹37,000 per month; conditional if a range is given, plus admissible HRA |
| Nature of appointment | Temporary, project-based — not a permanent WII cadre job |
| Application window | 30 October – 13 November 2026, online only |
🎓 2. Essential qualifications and separate degree routes
- A. Four-year natural/agricultural/forestry science Bachelor’s recognised under NEP 4-year route
- B. Recognised Master’s in notified Natural Sciences or Agricultural Sciences
Relevant experience and preferences: No exact compulsory years of work experience stated for this profile. Relevant research and field aptitude/desirable evidence may influence shortlisting. Desirable project fit: Wildlife and ecology research, field data collection, research project coordination, riverine conservation experience.. A desirable capability is not an invented additional mandatory certificate; if the notice explicitly requires post-degree years (01(1), 01(2), 04(1)) the period cannot be replaced by a general interest statement.
🔬 3. Project-specific work and practical outputs
Survey and analyse riverine habitat supporting the Critically Endangered White-bellied Heron around Lohit and Noa-Dehing River Basins; contribute to conservation plan and report. The role sits within White-bellied Heron habitat and river-basin conservation. Applicants should be able to discuss how they will collect defensible evidence, report uncertainty, safely coordinate with their PI/team and preserve raw data for review. Illustrative responsible practice: Frame a river-reach survey with disturbance and habitat variables such as riparian cover, river-channel characteristics and observational disturbance; document rare-species survey precautions and robust evidence standards. Include community/forest-department consultation as appropriate to planning without claiming it is an official separate exam topic. Avoid disclosing sensitive nesting locations in public material. These are examples of professional readiness based on the published work, not a claim that WII has issued a hidden practical examination or fixed research deliverable list.
💰 4. Actual monthly pay, age and contract limits
Monthly remuneration: Official project monthly emoluments: ₹30,000 without NET/GATE OR ₹37,000 with NET/GATE plus HRA. Not permanent basic pay; in-hand Not specified. Published maximum age: 35 years, subject to GoI/DoPT relaxation (SC/ST up to five, OBC up to three; additional category interpretation per official rules). Project tenure: 12 months; one year and only project-specific conditional extensions are mentioned where applicable.
Project-specific proof to emphasise: Wildlife and ecology research, field data collection, research project coordination, riverine conservation experience..
🐦 Evidence-led preparation for 02(1) (editorial guidance)
- Practical domain example: For White-bellied Heron, a useful river-conservation discussion identifies breeding and foraging disturbance pathways, river-reach survey timing, observation ethics and how habitat threats could be documented without disturbing a critically endangered bird.
- What to check in the application: The published four-year NEP Bachelor route and Master route must not be conflated with an ordinary three-year science Bachelor. Show the degree duration directly from the university documents.
These are preparation illustrations based on the project description and not an independently notified written exam, added eligibility requirement or guaranteed interview question.
🎤 7. Research-oriented interview preparation (not official questions)
Practice prompt 1: What factors might make an apparent absence of a rare riverine bird uninformative? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
Practice prompt 2: How could river change and human disturbance be described without unsupported causality? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
Practice prompt 3: What field safeguards protect a critically endangered species during survey? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
⚠️ 8. Frequent eligibility and evidence errors
- Four-year NEP-style Bachelor’s is a specified alternative; it is not the same as a general three-year BSc.
- The White-bellied Heron is a critically endangered species; field data should be used with sensitivity.
- This is a one-year temporary research contract, not a standing forest-service appointment.

Practice prompt 2: What evidence is sufficient to recommend a corridor or habitat mitigation action? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
Practice prompt 3: How would you manage a team across survey and reporting phases? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
⚠️ 8. Frequent eligibility and evidence errors
- Doctoral route has FOUR years AFTER doctorate; unlike the Morand Senior Project Associate, a doctorate alone does not satisfy this role.
- The two non-doctoral pathways both say EIGHT years after the respective qualifying degree.
- No written test, interview timing or guaranteed promotion scale is printed.

🌿 Project Associate-I — Yettinahole Field Research — WII Research Recruitment 29 October 2026
📌 1. Official role and project context
Position code 04(2) in official WII Advertisement 2 October 2026 carries 2 vacancies, affiliated to Preparation of Wildlife Mitigation/Management Plan for the Yettinahole Drinking Water Project in Hassan and Tumkur Districts, Karnataka in Karnataka.

🎓 2. Essential qualifications and separate degree routes
- A. Four-year natural/agricultural/forestry science Bachelor’s (NEP 4-year route)
- B. Relevant Master’s in Natural Sciences or Agricultural Sciences
Relevant experience and preferences: No exact compulsory years of work experience stated for this profile. Relevant research and field aptitude/desirable evidence may influence shortlisting. Desirable project fit: Wildlife/ecology research and multidisciplinary project team coordination with field collection.. A desirable capability is not an invented additional mandatory certificate; if the notice explicitly requires post-degree years (01(1), 01(2), 04(1)) the period cannot be replaced by a general interest statement.
🔬 3. Project-specific work and practical outputs
Support two project-associate assignments on field research, ecological surveys, data analysis and technical reporting for Yettinahole project mitigation/management. The role sits within Yettinahole drinking-water project ecological mitigation. Applicants should be able to discuss how they will collect defensible evidence, report uncertainty, safely coordinate with their PI/team and preserve raw data for review. Illustrative responsible practice: Focus on reproducible sampling and data stewardship: field forms, detection conditions, map coordinates, transect effort, observation checks, photo logs and concise data summaries. Work up a sample issue-response note for mammal, bird and habitat observations in a water-project corridor; ensure inference does not exceed the measured data.
Project-specific proof to emphasise: Wildlife/ecology research and multidisciplinary project team coordination with field collection..
🌿 Evidence-led preparation for 04(2) (editorial guidance)
- Practical domain example: Two Yettinahole field researchers would need compatible protocols: shared data dictionary, replicate survey identifiers, photo/GPS metadata, quality checks and consistent hand-off for the senior research lead.
- What to check in the application: There are two seats under ONE code 04(2). Count them as two vacancies while retaining one unique post profile, not as two extra recruitment records.
These are preparation illustrations based on the project description and not an independently notified written exam, added eligibility requirement or guaranteed interview question.
🎤 7. Research-oriented interview preparation (not official questions)
Practice prompt 1: How would you maintain comparable data quality across two field-associate posts? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
Practice prompt 2: What evidence distinguishes a likely conflict hotspot from an isolated record? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
Practice prompt 3: How can raw field notes be traceably converted into a map/report? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
⚠️ 8. Frequent eligibility and evidence errors
- There are TWO vacancies under a single profile; do not split them into two imaginary posts.
- Four-year natural/agri/forestry Bachelor’s and relevant Master’s are alternative EQ routes.
- Salary depends on NET/GATE status, not an invented civil or forest-service pay level.

🌱 Evidence-led preparation for 05(1) (editorial guidance)
- Practical domain example: Saranda vegetation sampling should separate quadrat/transect effort, forest strata, canopy cover, regeneration, disturbances and species-identification confidence; GIS references can support repeat-visit monitoring.
- What to check in the application: The vegetation discipline includes Botany routes where listed. Do not accept a merely adjacent degree unless its exact course is among the notified alternatives.

- Practical domain example: For Saranda social surveys, interview preparation should address voluntary informed participation, local-language interpretation, privacy-safe household data, consent logs and balancing conservation and resource-use narratives.
- What to check in the application: This is a Social Sciences position. An otherwise strong Botany or Zoology degree alone does not satisfy its stated Social Science qualification pathway.
These are preparation illustrations based on the project description and not an independently notified written exam, added eligibility requirement or guaranteed interview question.
🎤 7. Research-oriented interview preparation (not official questions)
Practice prompt 1: How would you avoid sample bias in dispersed forest-dependent settlements? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
Practice prompt 2: How can livelihood observations inform conservation management without exposing respondents? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
Practice prompt 3: What would you do if community accounts conflict with administrative data? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
⚠️ 8. Frequent eligibility and evidence errors
- Four-year Social Sciences Bachelor’s OR Social Sciences Master’s is essential; Biology-only degrees are not stated for this specialist role.
- The project specifically mentions tribal-dominated Saranda survey areas; privacy and genuine consultation matter.
- Do not confuse field-community survey work with the Entomology or Vegetation profiles.
🔗 9. Official sources and later recruitment notices
The exact vacancy, qualifications, project duration and emoluments are in official WII Advertisement 2, 29 October 2026, pages 1–6; common conditions and 50-mark matrix are on pages 6–8. The earlier 19-seat October Advertisement 1 is different and must not be conflated.
Work on social survey design and community consultations in tribal-dominated Saranda areas, analysis of responses and conservation report support. Prepare a consent-sensitive household/stakeholder survey framework that separates respondent privacy from analytical records. Define sampling frame, tribal/community language needs, female and vulnerable voices, transcription safety, descriptive analysis and reporting of disagreement or uncertainty. Never infer community consent from individual interviews or promise access/benefits; these are research ethics, not an advertised legal permission.

🦋 Project Associate-I (Entomology) — Saranda Insect Monitoring — WII Research Recruitment 29 October 2026
📌 1. Official role and project context
Position code 05(3) in official WII Advertisement 2 October 2026 carries 1 vacancy, affiliated to Assessment and Monitoring of Biodiversity Values in Saranda Forest Division, West Singhbhum District, Jharkhand in Jharkhand.
|---|---|
| WII notification position | 05(3) |
| Actual number of vacancies | 1 |
| Advertised upper-age ceiling | 35 years (subject to applicable concessions) |
| Monthly advertised remuneration | ₹30,000–₹37,000 per month; conditional if a range is given, plus admissible HRA |
| Nature of appointment | Temporary, project-based — not a permanent WII cadre job |
| Application window | 30 October – 13 November 2026, online only |
🎓 2. Essential qualifications and separate degree routes
- A. Four-year natural/forest science BSc with relevant notified disciplines
- B. Natural Science/Agriculture/Forestry Master’s including Zoology, Ecology and Life Sciences
Relevant experience and preferences: No exact compulsory years of work experience stated for this profile. Relevant research and field aptitude/desirable evidence may influence shortlisting. Desirable project fit: Pan trapping, light trapping, insect identification, specimen curation, ecological data analysis and GPS/GIS field reporting.. A desirable capability is not an invented additional mandatory certificate; if the notice explicitly requires post-degree years (01(1), 01(2), 04(1)) the period cannot be replaced by a general interest statement.
🔬 3. Project-specific work and practical outputs
Plan and assist pan- and light-trap sampling, preserve specimen metadata, laboratory sorting/identification, biodiversity analyses and Saranda research reporting. The role sits within Saranda vegetation, community studies and insect biodiversity. Applicants should be able to discuss how they will collect defensible evidence, report uncertainty, safely coordinate with their PI/team and preserve raw data for review. Illustrative responsible practice: Compare attraction biases in light traps with colour/pan-trap effects, documenting date/time, weather, habitat, light intensity, sampling duration and effort. Prepare a specimen chain-of-custody log with lab IDs and uncertain taxon identifications; demonstrate careful handling, permitted sampling and ecological comparability rather than claiming any trapping method has been mandated as an exam test.
Project-specific proof to emphasise: Pan trapping, light trapping, insect identification, specimen curation, ecological data analysis and GPS/GIS field reporting..
🦋 Evidence-led preparation for 05(3) (editorial guidance)
- Practical domain example: An entomology field protocol could compare light versus pan traps, time/weather bias, specimen labelling, biodiversity indices and repeatable GPS-linked capture effort. Separate sampling design from taxonomic claims.
- What to check in the application: Review the exact notified degree disciplines and practical experience. A job title containing “Entomology” is not a licence to invent compulsory professional certifications.
These are preparation illustrations based on the project description and not an independently notified written exam, added eligibility requirement or guaranteed interview question.
🎤 7. Research-oriented interview preparation (not official questions)
Practice prompt 1: Why are pan-trap and light-trap counts not automatically directly comparable? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
Practice prompt 2: Which specimen and collection metadata prevent analytical ambiguity? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
Practice prompt 3: How would you handle unknown insect taxa while preparing a biodiversity report? Explain the evidence you would seek, method choice, likely sources of error, coordination needed and a short documented deliverable. WII has not published this as an actual interview question.
⚠️ 8. Frequent eligibility and evidence errors
- Entomology specialist role includes insect trapping and laboratory specimen processing.
- The notified degree list does not specifically name every biological degree or diploma; compare exact fields.
- No established exam on insect taxonomy is announced: project-domain questions are interview preparation only.

🔬 3. Project-specific work and practical outputs
Conduct biodiversity/floristic surveys, remote Himalayan field data collection, literature review, ecological analysis and reports under Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve biodiversity conservation project. The role sits within Nanda Devi alpine/himalayan biodiversity, floristic surveys and physical fieldwork. Applicants should be able to discuss how they will collect defensible evidence, report uncertainty, safely coordinate with their PI/team and preserve raw data for review. Illustrative responsible practice: Develop an elevation-stratified Himalayan floristic survey design, considering alpine/forest gradients, altitude-related safety, phenology, access limitations and weather windows. 🏔️ Evidence-led preparation for 06(1) (editorial guidance)
- Practical domain example: For Nanda Devi biodiversity, explain elevation-stratified botanical survey design, weather-safe observation windows, permit coordination, species-evidence quality and how floristic information feeds a conservation report.
- What to check in the application: Unlike several other PA-I roles, this entry explicitly requires a relevant Master degree. Do not treat the four-year-Bachelor alternate available elsewhere as applicable here.
These are preparation illustrations based on the project description and not an independently notified written exam, added eligibility requirement or guaranteed interview question.
🎤 7. Research-oriented interview preparation (not official questions)

⚠️ 8. Frequent eligibility and evidence errors
- This specific Nanda Devi role requires Master’s in the given Natural Sciences fields; a four-year BSc alone is not an advertised alternative.
