APPSC AEE Notification 27/2026 — Three-Paper 450-Mark CBRT (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical)

APPSC AEE 2026 — Full Official CBRT Scheme and Branch-wise Syllabus

Notification 27/2026, detailed publication 2 November 2026; syllabus reproduced in the earlier revised brief/Annexure and confirmed in the full detailed notification. Exam date not announced.

APPSC conducts a single-level, post-code-wise written computer test. All three papers are compulsory. Candidates must choose the appropriate technical examination route from the advertised engineering qualification and the post-code combinations; Paper-III is not the same technical examination for a Civil, Electrical and Mechanical applicant.

📊 Equal marks across the three officially prescribed papers

Written paperMaximum marks
Paper I — General Studies150
Paper II — relevant engineering paper150
Paper III — branch/post-specific engineering paper150

Each paper has 150 objective questions worth 150 marks in 150 minutes. Combined: 450 questions, 450 marks and 450 minutes, generally in assigned sessions according to the published timetable. A wrong answer costs 1/3 mark; the notice does not announce a different negative marking rate for the engineering papers. Appearance in all necessary papers is compulsory.

Paper I — General Studies & Mental Ability (all eight codes)

No.Official syllabus area (editorially grouped)
1Current events and major issues — international, Indian and Andhra Pradesh
2General Science, technological developments and everyday applications
3Indian history and national movement, with Andhra Pradesh focus
4India and Andhra Pradesh geography
5Constitution, polity, governance, public policy and e-governance
6Indian economy, planning and development
7Sustainable development and environmental protection
8Disaster management, remote sensing and GIS applications
9Logical/analytical reasoning and interpretation
10Data tables, charts, descriptive statistics (mean/median/mode/variance) and inference

This is the published ten-part syllabus, not an invented subject-wise weightage. The APPSC current affairs focus includes Andhra Pradesh; historical and polity preparation is explicitly India/AP-focused. Data interpretation includes the named simple statistics, and disaster topics include remote sensing/GIS. The bulletin does not allocate a fixed number of questions to any one of the ten points.

Paper II — Civil & Mechanical Engineering (codes 01, 02, 03, 04, 06, 07, 08)

No.Official syllabus area (editorially grouped)
1Strength of Materials: forces, moments, trusses, SFD/BMD, flexural/shear stresses, Mohr’s circle, columns, torsion, springs and vessels
2Fluid Mechanics and Machinery: hydrostatics, Bernoulli/continuity, momentum, pipe losses, boundary layer, turbines and pumps, hydraulic valves and hydropower installations

This common component spans applied mechanics, strength of materials, solids and stresses as well as fluid systems, pumps and turbines. In the original syllabus, the Strength of Materials section includes bending moments and shear forces, compound loading, torsion and columns; the fluid section covers closed conduit loss analysis, Bernoulli equation, pumps, hydro turbines, hydraulic-control devices and project layout. It does not automatically qualify a Mechanical graduate for a Civil-only post code.

Paper II — Electrical Engineering (only code 05)

No.Official syllabus area (editorially grouped)
1Electric circuits, single- and three-phase network analysis and transients
2Electrical measurement and instruments: meters, faults and oscilloscopes
3Illumination: luminous intensity, lighting design and lamps
4DC generators/motors: characteristics, torque, starters and speed control
5Transformers: connections, equivalent circuits, regulation and performance
6Induction motors, alternators and synchronous machines
7Single-phase induction motors and starters

In PC 05, both Paper II and Paper III are Electrical. Do not use the Civil & Mechanical common Paper II for the four Electrical AEE posts. Scope includes machines, circuit transients, instruments, lighting and synchronous systems as stated in the annexure.

Paper III — Civil Engineering (codes 01, 03, 04, 07)

No.Official syllabus area (editorially grouped)
1Building materials and concrete: timber, bricks, cement, mix design, NDT and material performance
2Structural analysis: virtual work, indeterminate structures, Castigliano, stiffness and slope-deflection
3Steel structures: limit-state design, welded/bolted members and industrial roofs
4Concrete and masonry: slabs, beams, footings, prestressed concrete and IS codes
5Construction planning: CPM/PERT, activity networks, time-cost and resource allocation
6Hydraulics and water resources: open channels, irrigation, dams, canal design, floods and hydrology
7Environmental engineering: drinking water, wastewater, sanitation, air/noise, EIA and solid waste
8Soil mechanics and foundations: seepage, settlement, shearing, piles, bearing capacity and expansive soils
9Surveying and transportation: GPS/remote sensing, levelling, pavements, road alignments and traffic systems

Civil Paper-III covers foundations, construction planning, materials, roads, hydrology and public environmental engineering: that breadth is especially relevant to the distinct departmental demands of municipal infrastructure, rural sanitation, Roads & Buildings and Water Resources. It is an examination syllabus, not proof that every selected engineer receives all these field duties.

Paper III — Common Civil & Mechanical Engineering (codes 02 and 06)

No.Official syllabus area (editorially grouped)
1Engineering drawing: scales, orthographic and isometric projections, sections, surfaces and introductory CAD
2Environmental science: resources, forest and water management, energy and sustainable consumption
3Ecosystems: trophic chains, biodiversity, producers/consumers and ecological succession
4Biodiversity conservation and pollution-control principles, including major Indian environmental laws
5Solid-waste management, industrial waste and individual pollution mitigation
6Disaster management including floods, cyclones, earthquakes and landslides
7Environmental ethics, population, climate change and conservation challenges
8Electrical/electronic fundamentals: RLC circuits, AC power, diodes, BJT, rectifiers and op-amps
9Computer fundamentals: operating systems, storage, files and hardware

Panchayat Raj and Tribal Welfare use this shared Civil/Mechanical Paper-III in a separate examination route. Its drawing, environment, electrical-electronic principles and computing content differ markedly from Civil-only Paper-III, even where an applicant with a Civil degree could otherwise qualify for both. APPSC states that the Post Code 02/06 common Paper-III may be scheduled in a different session.

Paper III — Electrical Engineering (code 05)

No.Official syllabus area (editorially grouped)
1Transmission and distribution: overhead lines, line constants and load studies
2Line insulators and underground cables
3Balanced/unbalanced faults and symmetrical components
4Generation stations: thermal, hydel and nuclear basics
5Relays, transformer/generator protection and circuit breakers
6Generation cost, dispatch, forecasting and plant economics
7Electric industrial drives, motor rating and earthing

Electrical Paper-III focuses on generation/transmission/distribution, protection, fault calculations and power economics; it is different from Paper-II's broad circuit-and-machine foundations. The four positions being OC-only in the roster does not change the syllabus.

Paper III — Mechanical Engineering (code 08)

No.Official syllabus area (editorially grouped)
1Thermodynamics: first/second laws, entropy, cycles, refrigeration and steam cycles
2Heat transfer: conduction, convection, radiation, fins and heat exchangers
3Refrigeration and air conditioning: refrigerant selection, psychrometrics and components
4Turbomachines: cascades, compressors, pumps, Pelton/Francis/Kaplan turbines
5Theory of machines: kinematics, cams, gears, dynamics and friction
6Machine design: shafts, springs, joints, bearings, fasteners and power transmission
7Machine drawing and solid modelling: CAD, drafting, surface/solid modelling
8Engineering materials: structures, alloys, phase diagrams, heat treatments and property relations
9Manufacturing: casting, forming, powder processing, welding, machining and metrology
10Computer-integrated manufacturing: CAD/CAM, CAPP, reverse engineering and simulation
11Industrial engineering: operations research, inventory, productivity, reliability, TQM and supply chain
12Modelling and simulation: numerical methods, constrained dynamics and Newton–Raphson

The Mechanical Paper-III syllabus extends to thermodynamics, heat transfer, turbomachinery, engineering materials, machining, quality control, industrial engineering and modelling/simulation. In particular, the published list goes beyond automobile servicing and beyond civil-structures topics; candidates should study the Mechanical Engineering syllabus specifically for PC 08's 21 Water Resources posts.

Language, city choice and score processing

General Studies & Mental Ability is set in English and translated into Telugu, with English authoritative for valuation. Engineering subject papers are English-only. APPSC indicates potential examination centres in 13 erstwhile Andhra Pradesh districts (Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East/West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapuramu) and asks for three centre preferences. District choice is subject to later centre availability.

If computer-based papers are administered in multiple sessions, APPSC may normalize the scores under its Annexure-V method; the subsequent ranking uses the prescribed normalized score where applicable, not a candidate's own computed raw ranking. The initial answer key is not yet issued. After any actual initial-key publication, the documented objection period is three days, with ₹100 per objection, reimbursed if sustained.

Written-test aggregate minimums: OC, sportspersons, ex-servicemen and EWS 40% (180/450); BC 35% (157.5/450); SC, ST and eligible PBD 30% (135/450). Reaching a minimum by itself does not assure shortlisting. The final merit is assessed post-code-wise and is contingent on qualifying the separate CPT and document/medical conditions.

APPSC AEE 2026 — Official Qualifying Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) and Practical Syllabus

AEE Notification 27/2026 · 60-minute practical test · 100 marks · for provisionally shortlisted candidates. No CPT date issued yet.

The APPSC AEE selection mechanism adds a mandatory Computer Proficiency Test after the written 450-mark competition. CPT is a qualifying requirement, rather than an extra paper adding 100 marks to the main post-wise merit score. Its purpose is to assess whether a selected engineering candidate can carry out basic office automation, document production and data presentation with standard computer software.

Word processing: create and format a professional document, use heading/paragraph styles, copy/move content, insert tables and images, apply page setup, header/footer, references or mail merge in a supported office suite. Typing assessment: demonstrate usable keyboard text-entry skills; the notification attributes 25 of 100 marks to this component, without announcing an exact WPM pass threshold.

Objects and layout: insert, resize and arrange tables, pictures and other document elements; this is 15 marks separately from typing. Spreadsheet: enter data; write formulas, use functions, format merged/split cells and produce charts; this is 20 marks. Presentation: create a structured set of slides, use layouts and text/image/table placement and appropriate transitions; this is the final 20 marks. The theoretical Part A component makes up the remaining 20 marks.

APPSC lists MS Office and acceptable comparable office suites, including LibreOffice/OpenOffice-style options. The relevant operations are more important than inventing an unannounced software version.
