About this Recruitment

Recruitment-specific overview from the published record.

The 327-seat CWC notice: what differs across the eight codes

CWC's 17 October 2026 direct-recruitment notice offers 327 advertised positions through eight post codes. The decisive distinction is not just the number of seats: Finance has two different qualification routes, Civil has two SC backlog posts within its total, and only Assistant Managers face a scored interview. Junior Executives are selected through the online examination and eligibility verification without an interview. The closing date of 15 November 2026 at 23:59 IST also determines the ordinary age, essential education and required experience cut-off.

This is recruitment to CWC posts under IDA pay scales, not apprenticeship training. Current advertised numbers may change. Candidates must apply for the exact code matching their documented degree; eligibility for one CWC post does not automatically establish eligibility for the other seven.

How to read the totals. Assistant Managers together account for 171 places; Junior Executives account for 156. The four largest codes—General AM (70), Technical AM (60), General JE (78) and Technical JE (78)—hold 286 of 327 seats (87.5%), but they accept different qualifications. UR 140 + OBC 97 + SC 40 + ST 20 + EWS 30 = 327. These figures are vertical categories only. PwBD and Ex-Servicemen allocations are horizontal and must never be added to 327.

Where the backlog sits—and why it matters

Civil Assistant Manager advertises 22 seats: 20 current vacancies plus two SC backlog vacancies. Therefore the Civil SC vertical count is three (one current + two backlog), not one and not five. The notice also identifies PwBD backlog positions for Finance, Civil, Electrical and Junior Executive roles, but those horizontal places overlap the advertised totals. For example, the Junior Executive General and Technical codes each earmark 11 Ex-Servicemen seats within their 78, not 11 extra positions. Read the relevant disability suitability categories before assuming that a PwBD reservation under one code transfers to another.

Qualification decisions: the differences likely to change who may apply

Post codeEssential degree or professional routeSeparate essential work experience?
01 General AMTwo-year PG degree or two-year PG diploma, any disciplineNo
02 Technical AMB.E./B.Tech in specifically listed Agriculture / Food Technology / Food Science / Food Science and Technology / Food Technology Management / BiotechnologyNo
03 Finance AMCommerce graduate with 3 years post-qualification Finance & Accounting experience, or any graduate with CA Intermediate / CMA IntermediateThree years only for the Commerce route
04 Civil AMB.E./B.Tech Civil EngineeringNo
05 Electrical AMB.E./B.Tech Electrical or Electrical and Electronics EngineeringNo
06 Mechanical AMB.E./B.Tech Mechanical EngineeringNo
07 General JEGraduation in any discipline plus working knowledge of computer applications and MS OfficeNo
08 Technical JEB.Sc. in one of eight prescribed subjects—Agriculture, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Food Science, Chemistry—plus computer/MS Office knowledgeNo

Finance: CA/CMA Intermediate can replace the three-year employment route—not the degree

The Finance code is easy to misread. Route A requires Commerce graduation and three years of regular post-qualification Finance and Accounting employment. The advertisement expressly excludes articleship from this employment computation. Route B accepts a graduate of any discipline with CA Intermediate or CMA Intermediate; it does not separately prescribe three years of work experience under that second route. An applicant with CA Intermediate but no completed graduation does not satisfy Route B; a B.Com holder relying solely on articleship cannot assume it meets Route A. Both routes remain subject to documentary verification and the closing-date cut-off.

Civil, Electrical and Mechanical are not interchangeable

Civil accepts specifically Civil Engineering B.E./B.Tech. Electrical expressly adds Electrical and Electronics Engineering as an alternative, while Mechanical lists only Mechanical Engineering. For Technical AM, by contrast, the accepted food/agriculture/biotechnology degrees form a distinct list. A familiar-sounding course or a nearby specialization is not automatically eligible unless its title meets the published wording or is supported by an official clarification. CWC requires the final mark sheet/certificate by 15 November 2026; final-year or final-semester candidates cannot rely on an expected result.

The broadest graduate route is not the largest managerial job

General Junior Executive has 78 vacancies and allows a graduation degree in any discipline with computer and MS Office knowledge; General Assistant Manager requires a two-year PG degree/diploma despite having 70 seats. Technical Junior Executive also has 78 seats but only accepts the eight named B.Sc. streams and computer skills. Do not treat a general undergraduate qualification as a substitute for its specified B.Sc. disciplines.

Four different online-test blueprints: all 230 marks, different priorities

All eight codes have an online 180-minute examination of 200 objective questions carrying 200 marks, plus two English descriptive questions worth 30 marks. Total 202 questions, 230 marks. However the allocation of the 200 objective marks varies:

GroupObjective paper structure (marks)Descriptive
AM General (01)Reasoning/Computer 60; English 40; Quantitative/Data Interpretation 60; General Awareness 402 questions / 30 marks
AM Technical, Finance, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical (02–06)Professional 60; Awareness 40; English 40; Reasoning/Computer 30; Quantitative/Data Interpretation 302 / 30
JE General (07)Reasoning/Computer 50; Quantitative/Data Interpretation 50; Awareness 50; English 502 / 30
JE Technical (08)Subject Knowledge 65; Reasoning/Computer 40; Quantitative/Data Interpretation 40; Awareness 20; English 352 / 30

Practical preparation consequence: Professional/subject knowledge is 30% of the objective marks for AM codes 02–06 but 32.5% for Technical JE. For General JE there is no separate professional knowledge section; it has a four-way 50-mark objective split. Preparation plans that copy the AM General exam pattern for all eight codes will misallocate study time.

The examination's negative marking is one-quarter of a question's assigned marks for each wrong objective answer; blank answers carry no such penalty. Professional/Subject Knowledge (where applicable) has a notified minimum of 40% for UR and 35% for the specified other categories; the English descriptive section also carries 40%/35% thresholds. Other individual sectional and total cut-offs can be fixed by CWC based on competition and vacancies. The qualifying minimum is not a predicted final cut-off, and marks may be equated/normalised if multiple sessions are used.

Why Managers and Junior Executives do not share a final-merit formula

Selection featureAssistant Manager, 01–06Junior Executive, 07–08
Online examRequiredRequired
Called to next stageUp to 1:5 applicants per postUp to 1:3
Document verificationYes, with interviewYes, in Delhi
Interview30 marksNo interview
Final combined weightingOnline exam 85% + interview 15%Exam merit plus successful verification; no interview component

Assistant Manager's interview itself requires 50% for UR/EWS, 45% for OBC, 40% for SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen. A high online score cannot substitute for the interview qualifying threshold. For Junior Executive candidates, effort should focus on the complete 230-mark online test, passing required sections, and assembling correct original documents. CWC may use date of birth, giving precedence to the older candidate, to resolve final-merit ties under its stated rules.

Reservation certificates: dates are more restrictive than the category name

The general unrelaxed age band is 18–28 as of 15 November 2026. For that band, notified birth dates are 16 November 1998 to 15 November 2008, inclusive. Typical upper-age concessions are SC/ST 5 years, OBC-NCL 3, PwBD 10, and qualifying Ex-Servicemen under post-specific rules. CWC's cumulative-relaxation ceiling is 55 years. Applying against a UR seat using a reserved-community identity does not automatically confer a reserved-category relaxation.

For OBC non-creamy-layer, the required certificate should be based on financial years 2023–24, 2024–25 and 2025–26 and issued from 1 April 2026 through 15 November 2026, with the Central List community and non-creamy-layer clause matching the notice. For EWS, the prescribed income-and-asset certificate should be valid 2026–27 using financial year 2025–26. Applicants should verify the issuing authority and format; simply holding an old certificate or a State-list-only OBC document is not a safe substitute.

PwBD suitability differs by code. CWC's annexures distinguish categories of disability and include separate scribe/compensatory-time requirements; do not assume every disability category is accepted for every profile. These are eligibility and examination-access rules, not extra vacancies.

Actual application cost: ₹500 versus ₹1,350—not a blanket free form

Applicant fee groupApplication feeIntimationTotal
SC/ST, women, PwBD, Ex-ServicemenNil₹500₹500
Other UR/EWS/OBC applicants₹850₹500₹1,350

Both published totals include GST, while payment-gateway charges may be extra. These charges are non-refundable. A woman candidate qualifying for a fee exemption still pays the ₹500 intimation charge; do not describe exempt groups as having a free application. Separate application(s) and payment are required when applying to multiple eligible codes. Successful payment should generate an e-receipt; a saved but unpaid form is not sufficient.

Salary and location: IDA pay scale does not equal take-home salary

Assistant Manager codes 01–06 have E-1 IDA pay scale ₹40,000–₹1,40,000; Junior Executive codes 07–08 have S-V scale ₹29,000–₹93,000. These are pay scales, not an advertised fixed monthly in-hand package. IDA, eligible allowances and benefits depend on CWC policy and statutory deductions. Candidates comparing offers should not quote the upper end of the scale as starting salary.

CWC's Annexure III lists tentative field-office, warehouse, ICD/CFS and regional locations across 31 States/Union Territories. These are potential deployment areas, not 327 guaranteed city-specific seats. For instance, the annexure lists Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Hazaribagh in Jharkhand, but no individual post-wise seat allocation to Jharkhand is given. Delhi is the JE verification location; it is not proof that a successful candidate will be permanently posted in Delhi.

Before submitting: five checks that avoid preventable rejection

  1. Match the exact post code, final qualification and work-experience route. Finance articleship does not meet the regular-employment requirement of its B.Com pathway.
  2. Check 15 November 2026 as the age, degree and experience reference date; verify DOB, graduation final mark sheet and category certificates before payment.
  3. Check whether SC/ST/OBC/EWS reservations exist for that code, not merely somewhere in the overall 327-seat advertisement. Keep horizontal Ex-SM/PwBD seats separate from vertical totals.
  4. Prepare photo/signature and other documents to portal specifications; correct entries before final registration because post, category and personal fields are effectively locked.
  5. Apply and pay through CWC's official recruitment portal by 15 November 2026, 23:59 IST, retain the e-receipt and registration details, and follow call-letter updates for the exam and subsequent Delhi document verification/interview.

Official notification and application

Recruitment identity: CWC/I-Manpower/DR/Rectt/2026/01. Applications opened on 17 October 2026 and close on 15 November 2026 at 23:59 IST. The online examination, interview and document-verification dates are not yet specified in the original notice. Watch official CWC updates rather than relying on an assumed exam timetable.

Official examination and syllabus: all eight post codes

The CWC notification gives four distinct examination blueprints across the eight codes. Each code is 202 questions/230 marks/180 minutes, but the subject weights, section languages and sectional time limits differ. The objective component is 200 marks; the remaining 30 marks belong to two separately timed English descriptive questions. Choose the correct post-code paper before preparing. Full notified subject outlines follow for the six technical/finance streams.

Qualifying standards, scoring and provisional next steps

Objective negative marking: 25% of the marks assigned to the question for each wrong answer; unanswered questions are not penalised. Professional/subject knowledge where offered: UR 40%, and OBC/EWS/SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen 35%. English descriptive section for all eight codes: UR 40%, and the listed other categories 35%. These are not the future category-wise selection cutoffs. CWC may set qualifying section-wise and total score limits, equate scores across sessions and apply equi-percentile normalization. Manager shortlisting: up to 1:5, document verification then 30-mark interview; online test and interview have 85:15 final weight. Junior Executive shortlisting: up to 1:3, document verification only, no interview. Exam date: not officially announced in the 17 October PDF; no admit card, answer key or result release date is published.

How to prepare using the notified rules

  1. Select the exact CWC code first; Manager (General) and Junior Executive (General) do not share the same section counts or timings.

  2. For codes 02–06 and 08, use the discipline-wise official syllabus above; start with the professional section, but retain daily practice for English descriptive writing and separately timed aptitude.

  3. Do not confuse the 40%/35% qualifying standard with the unknown eventual cutoffs. For Manager posts, allow for the qualifying interview and its 15% final weight; for Junior Executives, prepare documents for verification instead.

  4. Check the official CWC careers portal for the exam date, revised Information Handout, call letter and any syllabus change. There is currently no basis to publish an exam date, admit-card release, answer key or result date.
