DSSSB Junior Engineer (Electrical) & MTS Recruitment 2026 — 1,260 Delhi Posts
Advertisement 06/2026 · Dated 6 November 2026 · Post Codes 809/26 and 810/26 · Online window 12 November (12 noon)–11 December (11:59 pm) 2026.
What is DSSSB Advertisement 06/2026 recruiting?
Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) has opened one combined advertisement, No. 06/2026, dated 6 November 2026, for 1,260 tentative regular vacancies in departments, municipal bodies and Delhi government organisations. The key to understanding this notice is that it establishes two separate post-code competitions, not one interchangeable pool of 1,260 seats. Post Code 809/26 covers Junior Engineer (Electric/Electrical), and Post Code 810/26 covers Multi-Tasking Staff (including General Duty and Aaya (Female)). Each has its own examination scheme, although all employer-specific positions under the same code share that code's combined examination route.
Online applications open on 12 November 2026 at 12:00 noon and close on 11 December 2026 at 11:59 pm. The notification is available through the DSSSB vacancy directory, and applications must be submitted using the official OARS system at https://dsssbonline.nic.in. Eligibility, qualification, category certificates and relevant experience are assessed as on 11 December 2026. No exact date for either examination has been announced in this advertisement.
🥧 Advertised seats: MTS versus Junior Engineer
The recruitment covers five JE establishments and nine MTS establishments. These are 14 actual departmental vacancy rows, not 14 independent notifications. One can be eligible for one establishment but not another because the departments have different essential engineering credentials, required post-diploma experience, designated female posts, pay scales and upper-age limits. The final department preference is important even if one exam score is used across that post code.
Complete reservation register: 1,260 posts
The overall vertical reservation is UR 537, OBC 325, SC 181, ST 94 and EWS 123. These are the combined figures shown in the original notice, and the total is 1,260. Separate PwBD 52, Ex-Servicemen 107 and Meritorious Sports Persons 52 are marked inclusive, meaning horizontal reservations already contained within the notified total. They must never be added on top of 1,260. The advertised vacancies are provisional and may change following the employing department's final requisition.
🥧 Overall vertical reservations across all 14 rows
📊 Inclusive horizontal reservations: different categories
PwBD suitability is not identical to the reserved vacancy count. A department may list categories of disability for which the work is suitable while reporting zero reserved seats in that row. Equally, the number 52 is the aggregate of horizontal PwBD seats indicated across all establishments, and is not a new third recruitment stream. Candidates should check their specific department's disability suitability in the relevant post details.
Junior Engineer: all five employing departments
185 positions are spread over five Delhi authorities. Every candidate under 809/26 faces the two-tier technical examination, but the criteria for eligibility and departmental pay differ.
📊 Junior Engineer posts by employer
NDMC — Junior Engineer (Electric), 67: Electrical Engineering degree OR diploma plus two years professional electrical experience; Pay Level 6, ₹35,400–₹1,12,400; ordinary age 18–32. Only this row has the 32-year unrelaxed upper limit.
Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board, 3: Diploma in Electrical Engineering and two years in electrical installation/maintenance. The printed pay is ₹9,300–₹34,800 + Grade Pay ₹4,200, Group B; the advertisement does not provide a verified replacement level, so that pre-revised wording is retained.
Municipal Corporation of Delhi, 26: Degree in Electrical Engineering OR diploma plus two years professional experience after the qualifying diploma exam. Level 6, ₹35,400–₹1,12,400, ordinary age 18–27.
Delhi Transco Limited, 75: Electrical Engineering degree or diploma, with no essential experience stated. Level 8, ₹52,000–₹1,51,100, the highest notified basic pay band among these JE employers; ordinary age 18–27.
Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board, 14: Recognised diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, no mandatory experience, Level 6, ₹35,400–₹1,12,400, age 18–27.
There is no single universal rule that an Electrical Engineering diploma without experience qualifies for all 185 JE posts. Nor does this notice authorise substituting unrelated Electronics, Mechanical or generic engineering credentials for its specifically notified Electrical qualifications.
Multi-Tasking Staff: nine departmental rosters
There are 1,075 MTS vacancies, of which 757 are General Duty under the Directorate of Education and another 239 are the separately designated Aaya (Female) positions there. The remaining 79 are distributed among seven other departments. All share one MTS One-Tier General examination under 810/26.
📊 MTS: vacancies department by department
In most MTS departments, the qualifying educational requirement is Matriculation (Class X) or equivalent from a recognised board/institution. The DUSIB MTS row is different: it explicitly permits either Class X pass OR an ITI pass from a recognised institute, and mentions at least two weeks of induction training for successful completion of probation. The Directorate of Education's Aaya (Female) designation must be observed; the post should not be described as a general open-to-all MTS role. All these MTS rows give a basic pay-scale ₹18,000–₹56,900, Level 1, with the advertised ordinary age 18–27, subject to specific departmental and category relaxations.
Age limits, Delhi OBC eligibility and category certificates
Age and qualification cut-off: 11 December 2026. NDMC JE has an unrelaxed upper limit of 32; all other JE and advertised MTS rows ordinarily state 18–27. The common relaxation table sets SC/ST +5 years, eligible Delhi OBC +3, PwBD +10, PwBD-SC/ST +15, PwBD-OBC +13. For regular eligible departmental employees, Group B has specified relief up to five years in the same/allied cadre; Group C may allow up to age 40 (45 for SC/ST, 43 for OBC), subject to rules and eligibility. Eligible ex-servicemen receive the military service period plus three years, subject to a maximum age of 55; for Group C, other specific concessions are listed for sportspersons, qualifying disabled defence personnel and widowed/divorced/judicially separated women. Same-department contractual employees may get a separate one-time concession up to five years on selected posts, requiring at least 180 working days in the relevant year; the concession is not automatic for all departments.
OBC (Delhi) is a particularly important restriction. The notification does not treat every out-of-Delhi OBC certificate as sufficient. The applicant must satisfy the Delhi-notified OBC category and specified documentary lineage/recognition rules. An OBC (Outside Delhi) applicant who cannot satisfy these requirements is treated as UR for the relevant claim. For an OBC non-creamy-layer claim, the specified certificate must have been issued on or after 1 April 2026 but no later than 11 December 2026, and the OBC caste certificate must also meet the closing-date requirement. EWS claimants need a valid FY 2026–27 Income & Asset Certificate based on FY 2025–26 income. Keep the original certificates for e-dossier and employing-department verification.
Reserved-category candidates selected on exactly the unrelaxed UR standard can be accommodated against UR merit positions. Claiming an age concession or qualification relaxation can alter whether a candidate is eligible for UR seat competition. Neither a community certificate nor an exam score alone establishes eligibility for every departmental post under a common code.
Junior Engineer examination: two distinct stages
The JE post code 809/26 has Two-Tier (Technical-1), Exam Code II-T-T-1. Tier-I is a 200-question, 200-mark, two-hour qualifying/shortlisting test. Section A comprises General Awareness, Intelligence & Reasoning, Arithmetic & Numerical Ability, Hindi Language & Comprehension and English Language & Comprehension: 20 marks each, total 100 marks. Section B contributes 100 questions/100 marks on the relevant Electrical qualifying subject. In Tier-I, the advertised minimum pass rule applies to the technical Section B and the combined Tier-I total, but not separately to Section A.
Tier-II is a 150-question, 200-mark, 2½-hour technical examination. Part I has 100 one-mark MCQs on the entire qualifying subject; Part II has 50 two-mark MCQs on application of concepts, contextual interpretation and problem solving. Minimum qualifying standards are applied separately to both technical parts. The combined Tier-II score determines the final JE merit. Thus a candidate with excellent general awareness cannot treat Tier-I Section A marks as a substitute for a weak Electrical score, and a high Tier-I rank is not the final selection score.
{chart('bar','JE: Tier-I versus Tier-II maximum marks','dsssb06-je-tier-marks',[('Tier-I: shortlisting',200),('Tier-II: final merit',200)],'Examination stage','Maximum marks')}
Wrong-answer penalties depend on question value: 0.25 for a wrong one-mark MCQ, 0.50 for a wrong two-mark MCQ. Papers are bilingual Hindi/English except language questions. For examination planning, allow for the different time demands: 120 minutes for Tier-I and 150 minutes for Tier-II. This notice names the Electrical subject and testing approach, but does not publish a fully enumerated chapter-by-chapter Electrical Engineering syllabus or a test date.
MTS examination: one paper, not the JE technical exam
Post Code 810/26 is One Tier (General), Exam Code I-T-G. The paper has 200 objective questions, maximum 200 marks, two hours. All five components carry 40 questions/40 marks: General Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Arithmetic & Numerical Ability, Hindi Language & Comprehension, and English Language & Comprehension. There is no Electrical technical part, no JE Tier-II, and no separately advertised interview for this combined MTS route.
{chart('bar','MTS: five equal sections of the 200-mark exam','dsssb06-mts-five',[('General Awareness',40),('Reasoning',40),('Numerical Ability',40),('Hindi',40),('English',40)],'Subject','Marks')}
The rule deducts 0.25 mark for each wrong one-mark objective answer. The Board will prepare the MTS final merit from the One-Tier marks subject to the notified qualifying standard, reservation and subsequent document scrutiny. The common subject headings are official; narrower textbook chapter lists should be used as preparation guidance rather than misrepresented as additional topics expressly mandated by the 32-page notice.
Qualifying percentages, normalization, tie breaks and preferences
DSSSB lists 40% General/EWS, 35% Delhi OBC, 30% SC/ST/PwBD, with eligible ex-servicemen receiving a 5-percentage-point concession in their respective category subject to a floor of 30%. These are minimum qualifying percentages, not final selection cutoffs: the Board may apply a higher competitive cutoff according to the number of vacancies and candidate performance. Where the JE rule demands separate technical-part qualification, an overall mark above the general percentage does not erase that separate obligation.
For multi-shift examinations, DSSSB may normalize scores under its published procedure. Invalid/deleted questions may lead to proportional scoring out of the paper maximum. After the examination, provisional answer keys and any official objection window will be announced on the Board website; no advance date has been set.
Tie resolution: JE Tier-I: higher Section-B technical marks, then older candidate, then alphabetical first name where date of birth is identical. JE Tier-II: older candidate, then alphabetical first name. MTS: older candidate, then alphabetical first name.
Department choice occurs at the e-dossier stage, not merely by reading the notice. DSSSB will call for post/department preferences within each combined post code; at least one must be given, and the choices become final. An ineligible department preference may cause rejection for that code during user-department scrutiny. A candidate allotted their first available preference by merit cannot later insist upon reassignment. The advertisement expressly provides no waiting panel under this combined scheme.
Pay scales and what they do—and do not—promise
MTS: all nine advertised employer rows use Pay Level 1, ₹18,000–₹56,900. This is the printed scale, not the amount an appointee will necessarily receive in-hand after allowances and deductions.
JE at NDMC, MCD and DUSIB: Pay Level 6, ₹35,400–₹1,12,400. JE at Delhi Transco: Pay Level 8, ₹52,000–₹1,51,100. JE at Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board: ₹9,300–₹34,800 + ₹4,200 Grade Pay, as expressly printed; a different revised equivalent is not supplied and has not been inferred.
📊 Selected JE entry pay-scale starting points
Applicants should compare the particular employing body rather than take a single JE salary for all 185 posts. Exact in-hand income, posting allowances, city accommodation and individual departmental duties have not been quantified in this advertisement.
How to register, pay and avoid disqualification
First register on DSSSB's Online Application Registration System (OARS) at https://dsssbonline.nic.in if you have not registered previously. OARS registration is a one-time account: candidates already registered use their existing credentials, not another account. The notice warns that multiple registration or duplicate examination applications can cause rejection and debarment. For a fresh registration, prepare identity proof, mobile number and an active personal email address; keep login credentials safely. The Board's registration annexure mentions a 30-minute form session and optional OTP verification arrangements.
The application fee is ₹100, payable through SBI e-pay. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible ex-servicemen are exempt. Ex-servicemen already re-employed in certain civilian posts after availing the applicable ESM concession are not automatically entitled to fee concession again. The fee, once paid, is non-refundable; other payment methods are not accepted.
Fill the correct post code, qualification, years of work experience if required, caste/reservation claim, birth details and identity particulars. Upload a recognisable recent colour photo with a plain light background and a clear signature and other documents requested by the portal. The notice says there will be no correction, modification or category change after final submission. Retain the generated application and payment acknowledgement. For those making a fresh OARS account using an image ID other than Aadhaar, the registration annexure specifies a 15–60 KB JPG/JPEG identity proof with ID-specific pixel sizes. This is a portal registration image requirement, not a blanket 60 KB limit for every later document.
During e-dossier and appointment scrutiny, the employing department will inspect originals supporting age, Class X or engineering qualification, dates of diploma completion and experience, domicile/caste where relevant, certificate validity and any disability/ESM/MSP claim. A submitted form, paid fee or issued call letter does not itself guarantee an appointment.
Exam-day instructions and updates
DSSSB may allocate a centre in Delhi/NCR or elsewhere, depending on the examination arrangements. No specific exam date, shift, interview date, call-letter release date or marks list is confirmed for these two post codes in the advertisement. Keep checking the official DSSSB vacancies and examination-notice pages. The Board may alter examination centres or the scheme as permitted by its notice; what counts as the actual current timetable is the latest board-issued event, not an estimated date in an advertisement summary.
On examination day, comply with the call letter's reporting time and instructions. The notice prohibits phones, smart/electronic watches, calculators, earbuds and similar gadgets; centres may have no storage facility. The published dress guidance favours light half-sleeve clothing and low-heeled slippers/sandals rather than shoes. Eligibility remains provisional until the employing department accepts certificates and preferences. In the event of discrepancy between translations, the English version of the notification governs.
