Chart reading: The ICU has 11 vacancies, Accident & Emergency 7, and Medicine/Radiology/NICU/PICU 6 each. These are seat counts, not interview score weights. Do not replace departments with invented zone or hospital allocations.
3. Reservation, 17 PwD seats and certificate risks
View pie chart: ESIC Chennai 2026 88 seats by official vertical category
| Reservation category | Vacancies |
|---|---|
| UR | 17 |
| OBC | 13 |
| SC | 18 |
| ST | 27 |
| EWS | 13 |
The pie covers exactly 88 vertical-category vacancies. Separately, 17 PwD vacancies are horizontal and must not be added to 88. Page 2 names the identified suitability list for Bio-Chemistry, Radiology and Chest (one-leg/OL requirements), although Bio-Chemistry has no separate advertised row in the 28-department vacancy table. This cannot justify inventing a Biochemistry vacancy. PwD requires at least 40% benchmark disability, a certificate from the authorized Central/State medical board, and any required institutional fitness evaluation.
Category documents: OBC NCL must use the Central Government prescribed format and Central list, valid at interview. Invalid/missing reserved-category papers may cause consideration as UR, subject to applicable eligibility; the source separately warns that wrong-format OBC certificates are rejected as reservation proof. EWS proof must be valid for interview. PwD horizontal adjustment stays within the applicable vertical category.
4. Age: two distinct ceilings, no guessed relaxation
| Age group | Listed posts in this 88-seat notice | Maximum age |
|---|---|---|
| Broad/super-specialties | 25 departments other than Anatomy, Physiology and Forensic Medicine | 45 |
| Non-clinical subjects appearing in this roster | Anatomy, Physiology, Forensic Medicine | 50 |
Annexure A p4 explicitly says 45 years for broad specialties, with 50 years for Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic Medicine and Community Medicine. Only three of those eight subjects—Anatomy, Physiology and Forensic Medicine—actually appear as vacant departments in this 88-seat notice. Eligibility, including age, must be satisfied on the date of interview (PDF p3). It does not give a minimum-age number or category-wise numerical age-relaxation schedule; those must not be fabricated.
💰 5. Basic salary, approximate gross and contract money: do not confuse them
Initial basic ₹67,700/month, 7th CPC Level 11 plus admissible allowances. ESIC gives an example of approximately ₹1,61,814 gross for September 2026, which may change when headquarters revises Dearness Allowance. This is not a promised in-hand amount, not a salary-scale upper bound and not a mandatory constant gross for November 2026. Private practice of any kind is prohibited.
Other contract expenses: A non-exempt candidate brings a ₹500 application-fee demand draft; a successful candidate separately brings a ₹30,000 security deposit DD at joining, and enters a contractual agreement on ₹100 stamp paper. The security deposit is subject to the one-year forfeiture condition on resignation/service termination. These are not salary deductions quoted in the PDF and should never be displayed as pay.
🎓 6. Education and professional registration
Annexure A pp4–6 requires relevant recognized MD/MS/DNB for Senior Residents, or permitted medical MSc + PhD for Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology and Microbiology, subject to the applicable medical norms. Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions 2025 (NMC-TEQ 2025) with MSR/PGMER 2023 and its latest norms governs admission to the interview. This notice has separate preferential order 1 and order 2 routes for 17 high-skill/transition-period departments; the second route is not a requirement to possess both degrees.
Exactly which alternate super-specialty route is printed?
| Department / group | Primary preferred qualification | Secondary published route |
|---|---|---|
| Accident & Emergency | MD/DNB Emergency Medicine | MD/MS/DNB in General Medicine, Anaesthesia, Respiratory Medicine, General Surgery or Orthopaedics; transition-period rules |
| Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation | MD/DNB Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation | MS/MD/DNB in Medicine with Diploma in PMR, General Surgery or Orthopaedics; transition-period rules |
| ICU | DM Critical Care Medicine | MD/DNB General Medicine; appointed broad-specialty candidates obtain teaching experience in General Medicine |
| Cardiology | DM/DNB/DrNB Cardiology | MD/DNB General Medicine, Paediatrics or Respiratory Medicine |
| Cardiothoracic Surgery | MCh/DNB/DrNB Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery | MS/DNB General Surgery |
| Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology | DM/DNB/DrNB Interventional Radiology | MD/DNB Radio-diagnosis |
| Endocrinology & Metabolism | DM/DNB/DrNB Endocrinology | MD/DNB General Medicine or Paediatrics |
| Haematology | DM/DNB/DrNB Clinical Haematology | MD/DNB General Medicine, Paediatrics, Pathology or Biochemistry |
| Medical Gastroenterology | DM/DNB/DrNB Gastroenterology | MD/DNB General Medicine |
| Medical Oncology | DM Medical Oncology | MD/DNB General Medicine, Paediatrics or Radiation Oncology |
| Nephrology | DM/DNB/DrNB Nephrology | MD/DNB General Medicine or Paediatrics |
| Neurology | DM/DNB/DrNB Neurology | MD/DNB General Medicine or Paediatrics |
| Neurosurgery | MCh/DNB/DrNB Neurosurgery | MS/DNB General Surgery or Otorhinolaryngology |
| Surgical Oncology | MCh/DNB/DrNB Surgical Oncology | MS/DNB General Surgery, Otorhinolaryngology or Orthopaedics |
| Rheumatology | DM/DNB/DrNB Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology | MD/DNB General Medicine or Paediatrics |
| Burns & Plastic Surgery | MCh/DNB/DrNB Plastic Surgery | MS/DNB General Surgery or Otorhinolaryngology |
| Reproductive Medicine and Surgery | MCh/DNB/DrNB Reproductive Medicine and Surgery | MD/MS/DNB Obstetrics and Gynaecology |
Emergency Medicine: General Medicine, Anaesthesia, Respiratory Medicine, General Surgery and Orthopaedics specialties can attend under the notified alternative. The physical medicine alternative includes Medicine with Diploma in PMR plus surgery/orthopaedics pathways. PDF p6 also explains academic transitional relaxation; it is not an age relaxation. ICU: A General Medicine broad-specialty appointee earns teaching experience in General Medicine. For NICU and PICU, the advertisement does not print individual alternative degree schedules—ask ESIC/NMC rather than assigning an invented qualification.
Previous residency disqualification: A person who has already completed three years of Senior Residency under the Central Residency Scheme cannot apply for another such full 3-year term; previous service in relevant Government institution must follow proper channel and total term must not exceed 3 years. Completion of MBBS without relevant permitted postgraduate route is not enough.
📝 7. Walk-in: exact time, required form and fee
-
From 29 October 2026 obtain and read the signed 18-page PDF, then print the Annexure-C Senior Resident 3 Years application form (pages 12–13). Complete department, personal, degree, registration, experience and payment fields; affix photograph as required.
-
Confirm subject eligibility, 45/50-year cutoff, medical-council standing and OBC-NCL/other applicable reservation documents. For Government employees carry NOC; existing ESIC staff must submit prior intimation and not appear while on duty.
-
If liable, arrange ₹500 demand draft in favour of ESI Fund Account No.1, drawn on a scheduled bank, payable at Chennai, dated after 29 October 2026. Other methods and pre-advertisement DDs are not accepted. The notified fee is non-refundable.
-
Attend 17 November 2026 from 9:00 AM, ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Ashok Pillar Road, K.K. Nagar, Chennai. Document verification runs 09:00 to 11:00 AM; do not arrive after it ends. Carry original certificates and one set of self-attested copies.
-
The committee checks eligibility; a subject-MCQ screening is conditional, not a pre-announced exam. Only eligible and duly verified candidates may proceed to the Selection Board interview.
-
Monitor the ESIC Recruitments page for results, offer, joining and any corrected date. No final result or individual offer date is published in this PDF.
Multiple disciplines: Annexure B p9 permits only one post at a time, except Emergency Medicine, PM&R, ICU and Super-specialty departments; in permitted exceptions the candidate needs a separate application form and demand draft per post.

9. Conditional MCQ and final interview merit — not the same thing
Annexure main p3 says that if turnout exceeds 1:10 per vacancy, competent authority may hold a discipline-specific MCQ screening. In that event top five candidates can be called to interview. The screening score does not contribute to final selection, which depends solely on performance in the Selection Board interview. No published MCQ paper length, marks, negative marking, test day, timetable or detailed syllabus is printed. Applicants should prepare their professional discipline according to the notice; do not invent a separate full exam/syllabus page.
🔄 10. Full recruitment lifecycle with what is and is not released
| Stage | Status as of 30 Oct 2026 | What candidate should do |
|---|---|---|
| Advertisement 29 Oct | Officially issued | Check original file and any correction |
| Walk-in application and 9–11 verification, 17 Nov | Scheduled | Bring filled Annexure-C, fee/DD and originals |
| Discipline MCQ screening | Conditional, not scheduled | Only if ESIC invokes its >1:10 rule |
| Interview, 17 Nov | Scheduled | Attend after verification |
| Result / selection list | Not yet released | Monitor ESIC recruitments website |
| Offer, consent, medical exam | Future; dates not issued | Await official instruction |
| Security DD, contract, join | Future; dates not issued | Prepare if selected |
| Annual appraisal, three-year maximum | Future engagement | Comply with notified employment rules |
No speculative child data: The 29 October PDF releases no admit card, answer key, result list or cutoff. Future genuine ESIC publication should update this same 88-post recruitment identity rather than create another vacancy advertisement. An official interview schedule is already part of the original notification.
11. Contract consequences that affect your decision
Tenure is three years, contingent on yearly satisfactory performance; no extension beyond three years. Temporary-employee leave under CCS (Leave) Rules 1972 is referenced, but PF, pension, medical benefits, seniority, promotion and regular-appointment rights are explicitly disallowed as claimed service benefits under this contract. Private practice is barred. No TA/DA for interview or joining. Work may include emergency, ward/floor and other assignments, and attendance through manual/Aadhaar-enabled biometrics.
ESIC states that 15 consecutive days of unauthorized absence may count as abandonment with automatic termination and forfeiture of deposit. Gross negligence or misconduct may cause termination without notice. Otherwise the contract permits one month’s notice or one month’s emoluments in lieu, subject to the exception in the absence clause. Do not assume the ₹30,000 deposit will be returned after early resignation.
12. Candidate worked checks — practical rather than invented eligibility
Case 1 (age): A 48-year-old applicant for Anatomy may meet that department’s 50-year upper age, but a 48-year-old for Radiology faces the published 45-year ceiling. No extra generic OBC relaxation is printed.
Case 2 (fees): A woman applicant with an OBC certificate is exempt from the application fee because the table lists women; central OBC-NCL certificate validation is a separate eligibility question.
Case 3 (experience): A doctor who has already finished three full years in Central Residency cannot presume eligibility for a fresh ESIC three-year term, regardless of specialization.
Case 4 (specialty): A qualified General Medicine MD may be considered for Emergency Medicine under its printed transition route; this is not automatic permission to join unrelated specialties such as Cardiology without the required NMC scrutiny.
Case 5 (screening): A high MCQ screening score may help reach interview if ESIC holds a test, but final selection is by interview performance only.
Case 6 (expenses): ₹500 is an application fee, ₹30,000 is a separate deposit if selected, ₹100 is contract stamp paper; none is starting salary or a mandatory universal application payment.

Q. Can I attend with my DD after 11 AM? Document verification ends at 11 AM and late attendance is not entertained.
Q. Is screening MCQ compulsory? No; ESIC may use it if >10 candidates per vacancy turn up. No fixed MCQ date/pattern is provided.
Q. Will screening marks determine merit? No, interview alone determines the final selection.

Q. Is this permanent ESIC employment? No. The contract has three-year maximum tenure, annual review and no right to regular appointment.
Q. Is there an admit card or result now? The advertisement contains neither an admit card nor a published selection result; check the official recruitment website for future updates.
