About this Recruitment
Recruitment-specific overview from the published record.
RITES Limited Apprentice Recruitment 2026–27: 281 Seats Across 17 Disciplines
RITES Limited, a Navratna and Schedule 'A' Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, has announced 281 one-year Apprenticeship Training opportunities through notice Pers./26-10/Apprentice/2026-27/01 dated 4 November 2026. The categories are engineering graduates, non-engineering graduates, three-year engineering diploma holders and full-time ITI pass-outs. Online applications open 5 November 2026 and close 25 November 2026. The role is apprenticeship training, not recruitment to a permanent railway or RITES position.
The advertisement is unusual in two practical ways: it uses qualification-percentage merit without any written test or interview, and it requires two separate online submission steps. Candidates who only register on NATS/NAPS but do not submit the separate RITES document form by the deadline will not meet the published procedure. Selection does not guarantee a permanent job after training.

🥧 Four apprenticeship categories: official vacancy distribution
🥧 RITES 2026 apprentice seats by qualification category
| Apprenticeship category | Training seats |
|---|---|
| Graduate Engineering | 125 |
| Graduate Non-Engineering | 43 |
| Engineering Diploma | 62 |
| ITI Trade | 51 |
The categories total 125 + 43 + 62 + 51 = 281. Graduate apprentices total 168 across the two graduate groups; Diploma and ITI together account for 113 seats. A candidate should select the opportunity corresponding to their own accepted qualification, not simply the group with the largest vacancy count.
💰 Monthly apprenticeship stipend by category
📊 RITES 2026 monthly apprentice stipend by qualification
| Apprentice category | Monthly stipend (INR) |
|---|---|
| Graduate Engineering | 15650 |
| Graduate Non-Engineering | 15650 |
| Engineering Diploma | 13450 |
| ITI Trade | 10560 |
The ₹15,650 graduate stipend already includes ₹6,150 direct benefit transfer (DBT). The ₹13,450 diploma stipend already includes ₹5,450 DBT. These are portions of the published total, not amounts to add on top. RITES publishes ₹10,560 per month for ITI trainees without separately detailing an ITI DBT component. These are apprenticeship stipends, not permanent employee pay scales; no HRA, pension or regular RITES pay matrix is promised by the notice.
📊 Full 17-discipline seat matrix with reservation
The following tables faithfully reproduce each advertised discipline total and the corresponding published SC, ST, OBC, EWS and UR entries. Some of the original reservation cells are internally inconsistent. The notified row total must not be silently replaced with the sum of incomplete category entries. A dash in the original reservation chart means no seats shown in that category, represented by zero below. PwBD counts are horizontal, already included in overall totals.

Important correction-sensitive reservation notes
- Engineering Graduate Civil: the five vertical cells total 39, while the published discipline total is 40.
- Engineering Graduate Electrical: vertical cells total 25, versus 26 advertised.
- Engineering Graduate Mechanical: vertical cells total 35, versus 36 advertised.
- Diploma Mechanical: vertical cells total 25, versus 26 advertised.
- The overall vertical category totals in the notice are SC 32, ST 12, OBC 68, EWS 21 and UR 144, which add to 277, while the total number of advertised seats is 281. The published horizontal PwBD distribution is three Engineering Graduate seats and one Diploma seat, already included in the advertised seats. It is not a separate four-seat addition.
This discrepancy is present in the original 4 November 2026 RITES notification. Candidates should use the published 281-seat recruitment total but seek clarification from RITES if a selection decision depends on the unresolved category allocation. It would be incorrect to invent which category receives any of the four unallocated seats.
PwBD: The notice requires a certificate from a competent authority, a relevant benchmark disability of at least 40%, and fulfilment of the post-specific physical and functional requirements. Horizontal PwBD reservation is not a separate category to add to the vertical seat counts.
🎓 Essential qualification and pass-out-year rules
| Category | Minimum qualification stated in advertisement | Portal |
|---|---|---|
| Graduate Engineering | Four-year full-time engineering/architecture degree described as B.E., B.Tech or B.Arch | NATS |
| Graduate Non-Engineering | Three-year BA, BBA, B.Com, B.Sc or BCA graduation | NATS |
| Engineering Diploma | Three-year full-time engineering diploma | NATS |
| ITI Trade | Full-time ITI pass certificate in the relevant trade | NAPS |
Degree/diploma qualifications must be from an appropriately recognised university or institute under UGC/AICTE; ITI trade qualifications are required from NCVT/SCVT-recognised programmes. The actual apprenticeship opportunity must match the discipline/trade for which the applicant qualifies.
Five-year restriction on completed qualifications: For both graduate categories and for diploma candidates, RITES rules out applicants whose final-semester result date is before 5 November 2021. The eligibility cut-off for this rule is 5 November 2026. The notice explicitly says this qualification-year restriction does not apply to ITI pass-outs.
Architecture wording: The published common engineering-degree line names B.Arch while also referring to a four-year full-time degree. The notice does not separately resolve the duration issue for Architecture. Applicants with an Architecture qualification should follow the exact RITES/NATS opportunity and obtain RITES clarification where necessary; this article does not substitute an assumed course-duration exemption.
Finance and HR: These appear as separate non-engineering graduate opportunities, 21 Finance and 22 HR, with a common three-year graduation qualification list. The original seven-page notice does not impose an additional MBA, CA, specialised HR diploma or postgraduate certification specifically for these rows. Do not treat an unadvertised credential as a mandatory requirement.
ITI Other trades: The three seats have examples Welder / Fitter / Turner / Plumber / Surveyor, etc.; this is not a published one-seat-each allocation. RITES has not broken those three seats into individually numbered trade vacancies.
✅ Who can apply: age, marks and disqualifications
Minimum qualifying marks
| Applicable seat group | Minimum percentage |
|---|---|
| General / EWS | 60 |
| SC / ST / OBC(NCL) / PwBD against reserved positions | 50 |
The threshold is in the essential qualification, not in 10th/12th marks or in an entrance test. If the essential qualification specifically prescribes the percentage in an Honours subject, that Honours percentage is used; otherwise the aggregate of all subjects is relevant. RITES has not given a separate formula for weighting semester marks, so candidates should obtain the percentage from their university/institute’s official rules. Where a CGPA grading system is used, the applicant must attach the official CGPA-to-percentage conversion formula issued by the university/institute.
Ineligibility conditions as on 5 November 2026
- Essential qualification result is still pending on the cut-off date.
- Applicant has not completed 18 years on that date.
- Applicant has already completed or is presently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act framework.
- Applicant has one year or more of training or work experience after acquiring the essential qualification.
- Degree/diploma applicant’s final qualifying semester result predates 5 November 2021. ITI candidates are excluded from this particular five-year rule.
The advertisement does not state a universal maximum age. It also does not publish a separate departmental or written-examination qualifying cutoff.
🧮 Merit list and selection: detailed guide (no entrance exam)
RITES explicitly states that it will not conduct a written test or interview. This makes accurate marks, discipline mapping and uploaded documentary evidence central to the process.
How merit ranking works: The candidate’s qualifying degree/diploma/ITI percentage is considered for the relevant advertised discipline. Applicants satisfying the published threshold and other conditions are ranked by that score. If two applicants have the same percentage, the older applicant is ranked higher. RITES has not prescribed any extra CAT/GATE/aptitude-paper marks, interview weight, negative marking or technical paper syllabus for these apprentice vacancies.
Illustration only: If two eligible Civil Diploma applicants have officially certified 74.20% and 71.30%, the 74.20% candidate ranks ahead on percentage. If both have the same verified percentage, the older candidate ranks ahead. This is an explanation of the published method, not a prediction of actual shortlisting marks.
Official stages after application
- RITES receives applications from NATS/NAPS and checks the prescribed supporting documents uploaded through its own application form.
- Eligibility and subject-specific percentage marks are used to prepare merit order; age breaks ties.
- Depending on vacancies, shortlisted candidates are told to join within the specified period by an email from apprenticeship@rites.com. A shortlist will also be placed on the RITES website.
- Shortlisted candidates take their original records for further verification at joining. The company may consider subsequent merit lists if seats remain unfilled.
- Apprenticeship contracts are generated via NATS or NAPS, as appropriate. The resulting training period is one year without extension.
A place on a merit list does not itself establish a right to engagement or future RITES employment. The notice gives no merit-result publication date, joining date or location-wise cutoffs.
What to study instead of a CBT syllabus
No applicant-facing CBT, written-test pattern, exam subject list, marks distribution or negative-marking scheme is announced in this recruitment. There is therefore no notified entrance-examination syllabus to prepare. Candidates should concentrate on their qualifying-percentage evidence, correct NATS/NAPS discipline selection, certificate eligibility and the document-verification process. Training itself is separate from an entrance examination; the notice does not publish a detailed trade-wise training curriculum.
🖥️ Apply online: the two mandatory stages
Stage 1 — Apprenticeship portal:
- For B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch, BA/BBA/B.Com/B.Sc/BCA and engineering diploma qualifications, create or complete the NATS profile at https://nats.education.gov.in/student_type.php . Sign in and apply to the relevant RITES Limited apprenticeship opportunity.
- For full-time ITI, register on NAPS at https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in/ . Sign in and apply to the matching RITES Limited establishment opportunity.
- Before applying, check your name, category, credentials, qualification status and aggregate percentage. Profile corrections must be taken up with the appropriate NATS/NAPS office.
- Apply for one position only. The notice says that if multiple apprenticeship-portal applications are made, only the latest valid, completed application is considered.
Stage 2 — Mandatory RITES document form:
After applying to RITES on NATS/NAPS, independently open https://apprentice.rites.com/ApprenticeForm/ and provide the requested details and one combined PDF of prescribed evidence. This second submission is mandatory for all 281 opportunities. It must be made by 25 November 2026, as must the NATS/NAPS application. No specific 24-hour closing clock time is announced, so avoid assuming an 11:59 PM deadline.

🎯 Selection guide — merit list, not an entrance examination
The RITES notice dated 4 November 2026 states that there will be no written test or interview. Applicants are ranked using the percentage of marks in the essential qualification for the selected discipline. Where marks are equal, the older applicant ranks higher. The RITES notice does not publish a written-paper pattern, number of questions, time limit, negative marking, or qualifying entrance score; none is applicable as a notified recruitment test.
| Selection question | What the 4 November 2026 notice says |
|---|---|
| Written/CBT examination | Not conducted |
| Interview | Not conducted |
| Primary ranking | Percentage marks in the prescribed essential qualification |
| Minimum qualifying aggregate | 60% for General/EWS; 50% for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD against reserved seats |
| Honours-subject marks | Considered where the relevant essential qualification specifies them |
| Tie of qualification marks | Older applicant gets higher position |
| Shortlist communication | Email from apprenticeship@rites.com; list on RITES website |
| Verification | Uploaded document scrutiny followed by originals at joining |
| Vacant seats after first list | Further eligible candidates may be considered from subsequent merit lists |
A simple illustration of the tie rule: if two eligible applicants have exactly 75% in the required qualification, the older applicant is placed higher. This is an explanatory example, not an official candidate cutoff. RITES has not announced any selected-candidate percentage cutoff. After selection, apprentices follow a one-year training contract; that training must not be confused with an entrance examination.
📐 Qualification-percentage examples (illustrative, not a new RITES formula)
| Qualification-mark record | How to approach it |
|---|---|
| Marks/maximum marks shown across semesters | Check institution-certified aggregate percentage against the portal record |
| Honours subject specified in eligibility | Use the relevant Honours marking basis under the notice |
| CGPA/grade-based transcript | Supply the university/institution’s conversion formula with the RITES single-PDF submission |
| Percentage differs between NATS/NAPS and uploaded documents | Seek correction before submission; a mismatch risks rejection |
The official notice does not prescribe any extra weighting for particular semesters or extra marks for professional certifications. Do not substitute a coaching website’s merit formula for the published qualification-percentage criterion.
📚 Training syllabus: important source distinction
RITES has not published a separate recruitment-exam syllabus, discipline-wise training-module list, week-by-week plan, subject marks distribution or paper pattern in its seven-page 4 November notice. The guide below provides relevant educational orientation to the 17 advertised discipline rows. The listed study areas are professional-context suggestions, not RITES-imposed eligibility requirements, certified training modules or marks-bearing examination topics. Actual training content and practical tasks depend on the assigned apprenticeship opportunity, establishment and applicable training contract.
For trades where an exact DGT designated or optional apprenticeship trade exists, the Directorate General of Training publishes official curriculum listings:
- DGT — Designated trades under the Apprentices Act, 1961
- DGT — Optional trades syllabus catalogue
- DGT — Apprenticeship training and trade certification overview
These DGT resources are Government of India training references, not proof that RITES has adopted an identical curriculum for every graduate, diploma or ITI category. An ITI applicant should first confirm the exact trade named in the relevant NAPS opportunity and training contract. The RITES advertisement lists 'Other trades' collectively (3 seats) and does not break them down by Fitter, Turner, Welder, Plumber or Surveyor. The DGT also describes trade-apprenticeship certification/assessment, which is after or during apprenticeship training, separate from selection into this RITES recruitment. Candidates should not infer a scheduled RITES entrance test from it.

One-year training stipend: ₹10,560 per month. Selection: qualifying marks merit; no written test/interview.
Suggested learning and practical orientation:
- Welder: consult the designated Welder curriculum for joint preparation, welding safety and quality inspection concepts.
- Fitter: consult the designated Fitter curriculum for bench work, layout and fitting practice.
- Turner: consult the designated Turner curriculum for turning-machine and measurement fundamentals.
- Plumber: consult the designated Plumber curriculum for piping layout, joints, fittings and safe testing.
- Surveyor: consult the designated Surveyor curriculum for measurement, levelling and survey records.
Scope note: RITES lists those five trades as examples under only three combined seats. It does not publish any individual seat allotment or trade-wise study plan.
🛠️ After selection: learning and evidence habits
Successful applicants should read the actual NATS/NAPS contract, keep training attendance and learning records, comply with site safety directions and ask the assigned supervisor about authorized practical activities. These are sensible training habits, not additional selection conditions or a published RITES pass/fail syllabus. The RITES notice specifies one year of apprenticeship with no extension and no promise of regular employment.
For recruitment queries, RITES accepts email at apprenticeship@rites.com with the NATS/NAPS registration ID, full name and contact details. Consult the original RITES notice for the controlling eligibility, submission and selection conditions.

Graduate Apprentice (Engineering) — Civil (40 seats)
Training seats: 40 | Monthly stipend: ₹15,650 | Portal: NATS | Duration: 1 year.
The advertisement places Civil under the engineering-graduate apprenticeship, with 40 training seats. The notice does not assign an individual city, particular engineering project, laboratory, software package or department to these seats. The relevant degree and the Civil discipline displayed in the NATS opportunity should agree with the qualification certificates.
Published reservation row: SC: 5 | ST: 3 | OBC(NCL): 10 | EWS: 3 | UR: 18; PwBD horizontal: 1. The category figures in this row total 39, rather than the published 40; this is an inconsistency in the original advertisement. PwBD positions are horizontal and must not be added to the vacancy total.
Qualification and eligibility: Four-year full-time B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch under the engineering-graduate qualification cell, in an applicable discipline. Applicants need at least 18 years of age on 5 November 2026. General/EWS qualifying aggregate is 60%; SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD against reserved positions require 50%. Where eligibility refers to an Honours subject, its marks are used; otherwise aggregate marks for all subjects are used. The final semester result date must not be before 5 November 2021. Previous or ongoing apprenticeship, or one year or more of post-qualification job/training experience, makes the applicant ineligible under the notice.
Selection method: No written examination or interview. RITES ranks applicants by percentage in the essential qualification; for an equal score, the older applicant ranks ahead. Shortlisted applicants are contacted by email and must produce original records at joining.
Apply correctly: First complete the NATS profile and apply to the RITES Limited establishment’s relevant opening. Then upload all prescribed evidence as one PDF not exceeding 10 MB through the separate RITES application form by 25 November 2026. Documents by email or paper are not accepted at application stage.

Training subjects and practical orientation — Mechanical-related ITI trade orientation
Not an entrance syllabus: RITES does not conduct a written test or interview; it has not prescribed a discipline-specific learning plan in this advertisement. Topics below are educational guidance, not a training commitment or eligibility test.
- Confirm the precise NAPS trade and compare it with the relevant DGT designated-trade syllabus.
- Revise measuring tools, drawing interpretation and hand-tool safety.
- Review materials, fasteners, simple workshop operations and quality records.
- Understand basic machine guarding, preventive-maintenance and lockout principles.
- Keep a supervised practical training diary rather than treating theory revision as a job duty list.
Clarification: Mechanical is a broad RITES vacancy label; it does not confirm that each trainee will be registered as Fitter, Turner or Machinist. Consult the exact trade curriculum at the official DGT designated-trades directory, only after verifying the NAPS trade match.
- Apply for only one apprenticeship opportunity that matches this Mechanical discipline; only the latest valid completed NATS/NAPS application is considered if multiple portal applications are made.
- Complete NAPS registration and apply to the RITES Limited opening, then independently submit the RITES Application Form and one combined supporting-document PDF (maximum 10 MB) by 25 November 2026.
- Upload only the documents listed by RITES, including category certificate if applicable; no email or hard-copy document submission at application stage.
- If shortlisted, watch the registered email and take original documents for verification when reporting for joining.
