Notification 29/2026, official 10-page brief, Annexure pp. 3–6 | Single-level examination | Three papers | 450 marks | Date not yet declared.

The two notified Commissioner grades have a common degree-standard objective written examination. It is an online Computer Based Recruitment Test. The advertisement explicitly states no separate Screening Test regardless of applicant numbers. Each paper has 150 questions, a 150-minute allotted duration and 150 marks. If the examination is conducted in multiple sessions, APPSC may normalise results where applicable; a specific normalisation method is not fixed in this brief.

The published wrong-answer penalty is one-third of the marks assigned to the question. As each listed item carries one mark, an incorrect answer costs approximately 0.3333 mark. A question left unanswered is not described as drawing a negative mark in the brief. The notice does not state paper-wise passing marks, a final selection cutoff, a date of examination or an answer-key objection fee.

Paper I — General Studies & Mental Ability: ten published themes

Official themeHow to prepare without extending the notified syllabus
1. Current eventsInternational, national and Andhra Pradesh affairs and major public issues
2. General scienceEveryday applications, newer science and technology, information technology
3. HistoryBroad Indian social, economic, cultural and political history, the national movement, emphasis on Andhra Pradesh
4. GeographyGeography of India with specific A.P. emphasis
5. Polity and governanceConstitutional issues, public policy, reforms, e-governance initiatives
6. EconomyIndian economy and planning
7. SustainabilitySustainable development and environmental protection
8. Disaster managementVulnerability, prevention, mitigation, GIS and remote-sensing applications
9. ReasoningLogic, analytical aptitude, interpretation of arguments/information
10. Data analysisTabulation, graphical data, elementary mean, median, mode and variance, interpretation

These are topic headings rather than a chapter-wise marks schedule. In particular, no number of questions is officially assigned to AP history versus Indian polity.

Paper II — Hindu Law (150 marks)

1. Ancient sources and schools

The official list begins with Sruti, Smritis, Mimamsa, digests, commentaries and custom. It then identifies modern sources including equity, justice and good conscience, precedent and legislation. Study the difference between the Mitakshara and Dayabhaga schools, including how the syllabus links them to migration, change of religion, joint Hindu families and property concepts.

2. Joint Hindu family and property principles

Study the Mitakshara/Dayabhaga joint-family structures, coparcenary, joint-family property, alienation, traditional son's pious obligation, partition, women's property, stridhan, and the succession framework specifically referred to in the syllabus. The subject list includes the Hindu women's property law and Section 14 of the Hindu Succession Act. Do not substitute a generic discussion of property rights for the named statutory topics.

3. The Hindu Marriage Act, 1955

The syllabus names valid marriage, ceremonies, judicial separation, restitution of conjugal rights, divorce, grounds for separation/divorce and Family Courts, including jurisdiction and in-camera proceedings. Prepare both legal concepts and the structure of the statute rather than assuming the paper will concern only one matrimonial remedy.

4. Dowry-related law

The document requires definition of dowry, dowry offenders, trial of offences and Dowry Prohibition Officers. These subjects form a distinct theme even though the bulk of the paper is labelled Hindu Law.

5. Hindu Succession Act, 1956

Prepare intestate succession of a Hindu male, classification of heirs, female property rights, Section 14 and the Andhra Pradesh 1985 amendment expressly mentioned in the annexure. Historic and current rules may differ where statutes have been amended; revise against the applicable law and any APPSC clarification, not an outdated unamended handout.

6. Hindu Minority and Guardianship Act, 1956

The prescribed areas are classification of guardians and their rights and duties. These are distinct from adoption and maintenance.

7. Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act, 1956

Cover capacity to adopt and to be adopted, effect of adoption and the child's legal relationship, maintenance obligations, dependents, joint-family members, arrears and changes to maintenance awards. The annexure also expressly includes endowments in ancient Hindu law and their status.

The PDF gives these listed domains but does not allot separate marks to ancient sources, marriage law, succession or adoption. Any coaching-table percentage distribution would be hypothetical.

Paper III — Hindu Religious Endowments Act (150 marks)

The official syllabus identifies Act 30/1987, described in the brief as consisting of 15 chapters and 162 sections with a separate chapter concerning Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. This is the A.P. Charitable and Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments Act, 1987. Read its chapter structure, defined institutions, statutory concepts and administrative framework from a current authoritative legislative text. Do not treat the syllabus's 1987 numbering as proof that no later amendment has affected the operative law.

This paper is not the same as the general Hindu Law paper. An applicant may understand marriage, succession and adoption law but still need focused statutory revision for charitable and religious institutions. The official document gives one full 150-mark paper, not a narrower paper only on TTD or only on judicial practice.

Suggested preparation sequence (study advice, not an APPSC timetable)

First map the 450 marks into three equal tracks. Establish a compact AP-focused General Studies revision plan; use an act-wise checklist for the separate Hindu Law statutes; and use the operative A.P. Endowments Act chapter headings as the retrieval map for Paper III. Practise application of definitions and legal provisions and reserve time for quantitative data interpretation—the latter is explicitly on Paper I. The law-heavy allocation is 300/450 marks, so a study plan built only around current affairs would leave two papers uncovered.

Official status and later selection information

The uploaded brief does not provide the written test date, hall-ticket dates, venue allocations, cutoffs, provisional answer keys, objection procedure or final merit publication. These should be checked only against Notification 29/2026 on the APPSC website. It also attaches a distinct 100-mark Computer Proficiency Test syllabus; review that page separately. Avoid confusing this recruitment with Endowments Executive Officer Grade III Notification 23/2026.
