ISRO SDSC SHAR Apprenticeship 2026: 400 Training Seats Across 34 Branches and Trades
Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota • Notification SDSC SHAR/SCF/P&GA-II/Apprentice/2026 • Issued 6 November 2026 • Online applications: 6–26 November 2026
This notification offers 12 months of apprenticeship training, not appointment to a permanent ISRO post. An eligible engineering graduate, a B.A./B.Com./B.Sc. graduate, a diploma holder, an NCVT ITI candidate and a two-year vocational-certificate holder do not compete through one interchangeable qualification route: each must choose the corresponding training category and exact discipline/trade shown in the official notice. Academic-score merit and certificate verification decide selection; no written recruitment examination is announced.
📌 The six routes — where the 400 seats actually sit
| Official apprenticeship category | Seats | Disciplines / trades | Published monthly stipend |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engineering Graduate Apprentice | 50 | 6 | ₹12,300 |
| Non-Engineering Graduate Apprentice | 60 | 3 | ₹12,300 |
| Technician Apprentice (Diploma) | 35 | 8 | ₹10,900 |
| Diploma (DCCP) | 60 | 1 | Not specified separately |
| Trade Apprentice (ITI) | 180 | 13 | ₹9,600 |
| Vocational Apprentice | 15 | 3 | ₹9,600 |
| Total | 400 | 34 | — |
Read the DCCP row carefully. The published Educational Qualifications and Stipend table separately lists Engineering Graduate, Non-Engineering Graduate, Technician Diploma, Trade and Vocational. It does not provide an independent stipend amount for the 60 Diploma (Commercial & Computer Practice) seats. Therefore, no monthly DCCP figure is asserted here. The same caution applies to assuming an unprinted DCCP-specific minimum-percentage rule.
🥧 Share of 400 seats by apprenticeship category
| Category | Seats |
|---|---|
| Engineering Graduate Apprentice | 50 |
| Non-Engineering Graduate Apprentice | 60 |
| Technician Apprentice (Diploma) | 35 |
| Diploma (DCCP) | 60 |
| Trade Apprentice (ITI) | 180 |
| Vocational Apprentice | 15 |
The chart shows mutually exclusive training categories, not educational subject groups that overlap. Trade Apprentice contributes 180 of 400 places (45% by arithmetic); DCCP and non-engineering graduate routes each contribute 60 (15% each).
📊 Official vertical reservation — not an ITI trade-by-trade allocation

📊 Total category-wise seats across the six notified groups
| Comparable group | Seats |
|---|---|
| UR | 175 |
| OBC | 105 |
| SC | 57 |
| ST | 27 |
| EWS | 36 |
These are category-level reservations. SDSC SHAR does not print a separate UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS breakup for each of the 34 branch/trade rows. For example, Fitter has 75 total seats, and the full ITI group has UR 75, OBC 48, SC 27, ST 13, EWS 17; the number 75 in the overall ITI UR column must not be assigned to the Fitter row. No separately numbered PwBD vacancies are stated in these six reservation headers. Candidates claiming reservation must bring the notified certificate evidence at verification.

Counting check: Engineering Graduate 15+10+9+5+4+7=50; Non-Engineering Graduate 20+25+15=60; Technician Diploma 10+5+5+3+4+4+3+1=35; DCCP 60; the 13 ITI trade lines sum to 180; Vocational 7+4+4=15. The official notification does not assign independent alphanumeric post codes to these lines; use the exact category and trade labels when applying.
Who qualifies — six materially different educational routes
Engineering Graduate (50): First-class relevant B.E./B.Tech with a minimum of 60% marks or 6.32 CGPA, completed in 2022 or later. Branch names are specific: the Computer Science row includes CSE/IT/AI & ML/DS/CS, while the Electronics row includes ECE/EIE/ICE/ETE. A general degree from another branch should not be treated as automatically interchangeable.
Non-Engineering Graduate (60): First-class B.Sc in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics or Computer Science, or B.Com or B.A., with at least 60% marks or 6.32 CGPA and the relevant degree completed in 2022 or later. The B.Sc alternatives belong to the Science route; a B.Com candidate should choose Commerce, not Engineering.
Technician Diploma (35): First-class relevant diploma with minimum 60% or 6.32 CGPA, passed in 2022 or later. This list includes Photography and Automobile diplomas but does not include the graduate Computer Science AI/ML/Data Science expansions as separate diploma options.
DCCP Diploma (60): A separately listed Diploma in Commercial & Computer Practice group. It is not the same as the CSE/IT diploma row (3 seats), and a generic short computer course is not established as an equivalent. The notice states a general 2022-or-later pass-year rule for graduate and diploma apprenticeship but does not reproduce a DCCP-specific detailed qualification/stipend line. Candidates should ensure their diploma and graduation date meet the portal validation before choosing DCCP.
ITI Trade (180): SSLC/SSC plus a corresponding NCVT ITI/NTC certificate in the specified trade. SSLC without the qualifying trade certificate is insufficient. The 60%/6.32 CGPA threshold and the 2022 pass-year restriction are not explicitly extended to ITI by this notice. An SCVT-only credential without the notified NCVT requirement should not be assumed acceptable.
Vocational (15): Relevant AICTE-recognised vocational-course certificate involving two years of study after completing secondary-school education, in MPHW, MLT or CET. This is a vocational-certificate route, not an ordinary 10th-only vacancy or a general hospital experience route.
Across all routes: Sandwich-course certificates, short-term/certificate courses of the excluded kinds, and candidates currently pursuing higher studies are stated as ineligible. Do not confuse admission to a higher course with a completed qualifying credential.
₹ Stipend, training duration and what is — and is not — promised
| Category | Stipend per month | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Engineering Graduate | ₹12,300 | Notified |
| Non-Engineering Graduate | ₹12,300 | Notified |
| Technician Diploma | ₹10,900 | Notified |
| DCCP Diploma | Not specified separately | No distinct row |
| Trade ITI | ₹9,600 | Notified |
| Vocational | ₹9,600 | Notified |
📊 Comparable published monthly stipend amounts (DCCP excluded)
| Comparable group | Monthly stipend (INR) |
|---|---|
| Engineering graduate | 12300 |
| Non-engineering graduate | 12300 |
| Technician diploma | 10900 |
| ITI trade | 9600 |
| Vocational | 9600 |
Why DCCP does not appear in the stipend chart: An absent figure is not zero and cannot be estimated. The bar chart therefore includes only the five training categories with explicit published amounts.
Apprenticeship lasts 12 months from execution of the apprenticeship contract. SDSC SHAR may provide shared accommodation at an SHAR residential colony subject to availability; the notice makes no guaranteed separate accommodation grant. The successful completion of this training does not confer any right to temporary, ad-hoc or permanent employment at SDSC SHAR, ISRO or any other Department of Space centre. This is a stipend during training, not a regular government salary or pay-matrix appointment.
🧭 Application route — first register, then submit on UMANG
Step 1 — register for apprenticeship: Register on the NATS portal (or the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme portal, as applicable to your training route) with the relevant degree/diploma or trade documents and government identity proof. The system provides an enrolment/apprenticeship registration number.
Step 2 — check Aadhaar-linked bank payments: Ensure Aadhaar is seeded with the intended bank account and the account is enabled for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This is an explicit instruction, not merely a convenience.
Step 3 — submit the actual SDSC SHAR application: Log in at UMANG, search “SDSC SHAR Apprenticeship”, select the corresponding discipline/trade, complete the required fields and submit before 26 November 2026. Registration at NATS/NAPS alone is not the final SDSC SHAR application.
Step 4 — upload readable records: The notice requires relevant certificates such as SSC/10th, intermediate, NCVT ITI, diploma or graduate qualification as applicable. Supporting documents use JPG/JPEG/PNG, not exceeding 1 MB. The photograph and signature must satisfy the UMANG display and size directions. Upload valid reservation, EWS or disability proof where applicable.
Step 5 — check marks before pressing Submit: Enter consolidated aggregate/CGPA, class, month and year of passing so that every figure matches the certificates. The notification expressly states no editing after submission. Preserve your completed application for future reference.

Academic merit: how shortlisting actually works
No written recruitment test or interview is notified. SDSC SHAR prepares category-wise UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS academic-score merit lists at the apprenticeship-category level and shortlists against the exact branch, trade or subject. Candidates who reach the required position in the list are called for document verification. Merely appearing for verification does not by itself guarantee apprenticeship.
For CGPA, the institution’s official conversion formula takes precedence. Only when there is no prescribed formula, the notice says CGPA will be multiplied by 9.5 for comparison. Illustration only: a CGPA of 7.2 converts to 68.4% by 7.2×9.5 under that fallback; this is not a special mark award or a relaxation in minimum qualification. Applicants must retain the relevant conversion evidence if applicable.
An applicant’s class, passing month/year, percentage/CGPA and identity data are subject to documentary verification. If there is a mismatch, shortlisting or engagement can be cancelled. No separate merit weight for interviews, extra experience, prior internships or technical projects is published. No branch-level cutoff score or tie-breaking formula appears in this notice.
Verification costs: SDSC SHAR does not pay travelling allowance to shortlisted candidates attending document verification. Accommodation and meals for verification must be arranged by the candidate. At joining, selected trainees must produce a medical fitness certificate.
Disqualification checks that matter before applying
Candidates must be Indian nationals. Applications are not eligible if the candidate has already completed or is currently undergoing apprenticeship under the cited Act, has one year or more experience in any organisation, was terminated from apprenticeship, or withdrew from apprenticeship training. Concurrent apprenticeship with another institution is prohibited.
Applicants pursuing higher education, possessing only excluded sandwich/short-term certificate routes, or relying on a completed qualification outside the relevant pass-year rule should check eligibility before applying. Since the notice does not publish a numerical minimum or maximum age threshold, no arbitrary age band has been added.
Reservation evidence: SC/ST/OBC applicants need valid central-format caste documents and self-attested copies for verification. EWS applicants need the 2026–27 valid income and assets certificate in Government of India format. PwBD applicants need valid disability proof and UDID card. Medical fitness is required at joining. Misrepresentation, incompatible documents or canvassing may cause disqualification.
Document-verification readiness — do not turn a merit recruitment into a written exam
Before the shortlisting announcement, organise original SSC/10th proof, qualifying degree/diploma/ITI/vocational certificate, all consolidated mark sheets, proof of month and year of passing, NATS/NAPS enrolment, UMANG application copy, government ID, Aadhaar–bank/DBT details, and valid category documents if claimed. The authority can verify every statement against originals; unsupported percentage, incorrect NCVT/branch mapping or an inconsistent certificate year is an avoidable rejection risk.
On any future call, rely only on the SDSC SHAR or ISRO official recruitment pages for schedule, venue, required documents, corrigenda and the merit/DV status. No date for merit publication or document verification has been fixed in the 6 November notice, and there is no announced admit card, provisional answer key, written syllabus, written paper, interview date or result for this apprenticeship engagement.

- The original notice does not publish a separate vertical reservation for this individual branch or trade; follow the overall Vocational Apprentice category roster.
- Registration on the appropriate apprenticeship scheme portal and submission on UMANG are two separate steps.
The notice supplies reservation totals only for the overall Vocational Apprentice group: UR 8, OBC 3, SC 2, ST 1, EWS 1. It does not assign vertical-category seats separately to this branch or trade.
