Samagra Shiksha Diu PGT Recruitment 2026: Four English-Medium Posts, One Same-Day Written Test and Walk-in Interview
Official notice: EDN/SS/DIU/STC-PGT/RECRUITMENT/2026-27/216 | Issued: 5 November 2026 | Walk-in: 25 November 2026, reporting at 9:30 AM
The Directorate of Education, UT Administration of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, through Samagra Shiksha, Diu, has announced four short-term contractual Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) positions for academic year 2026–27. Each advertised teaching field—History, Geography, Statistics and Business Studies—has one vacancy, all with English as the teaching medium and ₹29,000 fixed monthly remuneration. The venue is Government Higher Secondary School, Diu. The four positions are not a broad pool of interchangeable graduate-teacher jobs: the relevant master's subject and the medium of study at SSC level both matter.
The distinctive selection feature is immediate and consequential: a written test will be conducted on 25 November before the interview. Only candidates who obtain at least 40% in that test can proceed to the interview. The notice announces the test and its qualifying percentage but does not specify the number of questions, paper duration, subject-wise question mix, negative marking, interview weightage or final-merit formula. A candidate should therefore distinguish the confirmed selection condition from general subject preparation.
📌 At-a-glance: the facts that decide whether to attend
🥧 Four separate academic seats, each one-quarter of the recruitment
🥧 Official PGT vacancy distribution by subject
The table represents four mutually exclusive subject seats, not categories of reservation. Each subject holds 25% of the notified total. The original table does not assign separate UR, SC, ST, OBC or EWS vacancy counts; an applicant must not infer a category allocation from the demographic fields printed on the application form. All four rows state English medium and the same ₹29,000 remuneration.
📊 Two percentage gates—and why they cannot be substituted for one another
📊 Advertised postgraduate and written-test percentage thresholds
The 50% condition applies to the relevant postgraduate qualification, before selection. The 40% applies to performance in the written screening test conducted before interview. Meeting 50% in the degree does not waive the written test; 40% in the test does not make an otherwise academically ineligible person eligible. The notice provides neither a higher competitive cutoff nor a formula for final ranking. The table compares two stated minimum percentages only; it is not a chart of predicted marks or selection odds.
🎓 Academic eligibility: read the AND/OR language carefully
The notice gives an essential subject-linked academic qualification and a teacher-education qualification. Under the first route the candidate needs a postgraduate degree from a recognised university in the subject of the vacancy with at least 50% and a B.Ed. from an NCTE-recognised institution. The alternative printed alongside it again states a postgraduate degree in the respective subject with at least 50%, together with B.A.Ed. or B.Sc.Ed. from an NCTE-recognised institution. The alternative is not a blanket waiver of subject-relevant postgraduate study: the text repeats the postgraduate requirement.
The four subject names determine the relevant master's field. A History applicant must be able to document the advertised History subject link, a Geography applicant Geography, a Statistics applicant Statistics, and a Business Studies applicant the relevant field claimed for Business Studies. The notice does not publish a formal equivalence list for degrees such as Commerce, Management or Economics against Business Studies; it would be unsound to promise such degrees are automatically accepted. Where degree titles differ from the advertised subject, the candidate should carry authoritative university documentation of the discipline and cannot presume equivalence.
English-medium filter: The notice expressly says that the language of SSC-level study must be the same as the medium for which the candidate applies, except for language subjects. Because all four advertised posts are non-language PGT subjects with English medium, candidates must pay attention to the SSC/secondary school medium, not merely English speaking skill. The application form has a distinct field for “Medium of Studied in SSC”. An English-language degree, English interview fluency or an English paper passed separately is not, by itself, a published substitute for that specific medium requirement.
Age: The table says not exceeding 30 years, subject to Central Government age relaxations. The public notice does not provide separate SC/ST/OBC/PwD numerical relaxations or a stand-alone birth-date cutoff. The form asks the candidate to enter age as of the “last date of application”, but the notice itself provides a walk-in date, not an additional earlier online/postal application cutoff. Do not calculate a personal eligibility decision from an invented cutoff date.
🏫 Which of the four teaching responsibilities fits your degree?
The classroom focus above is a practical teaching-preparation interpretation of the named PGT subjects, not an official list of chapters or interview questions. The official notice names the four subjects, eligibility routes and examination stages but does not supply chapter-wise syllabus or textbook references.
📝 Written test comes before interview on the same date
The public notification makes two sequential assessments explicit: first the written test, then the interview only for those obtaining at least 40% in the written test. This 40% is an interview-access condition, not an announcement that everyone reaching 40% will be appointed. Neither the number of shortlisted candidates nor the final marks calculation is stated. The fixed venue and reporting time do not reveal the precise start time or length of the written paper; arrive for the published 9:30 AM schedule rather than assuming an independent examination shift.
For substantive preparation, organise the advertised subject's core disciplinary knowledge, the ability to explain it accurately in English, and practical ways of assessing student understanding. History candidates can practise building an argument from contrasting sources; Geography candidates can relate a map to a spatial process; Statistics candidates can work calculations and explain their assumptions; Business Studies candidates can apply management ideas to a business case. These are editorial preparation suggestions, not a purported official PGT Diu test pattern.
🧮 A qualifying-mark example, without inventing paper marks
If the written test's maximum were announced later, the qualifying score would be 40% of that maximum. For illustration only, a 100-mark hypothetical test would have a 40-mark qualifying boundary; the original four-page notice does not state that the PGT test carries 100 marks. No minimum score for interview, final ratio between test and interview, negative marking, bonus for experience or merit cutoff has been published in this document.
📄 The application form is part of the official four-page PDF
Pages 3–4 contain the prescribed form and signed declaration. The candidate chooses one PGT subject from History, Geography, Statistics and Business Studies and supplies name, parent details, addresses, phone, email, date of birth, gender, category, disability/special-category status, marital status, DNH/Daman/Diu domicile field, SSC medium of study, educational history (SSC, HSC, graduation, postgraduate and B.Ed.), past employment, other achievements and signature. The declaration authorises cancellation for incorrect or suppressed information. A form field asking about local domicile does not, by itself, prove the recruitment is reserved only for Diu residents; the notification does not print such an exclusion.
The form specifically says to attach documentary evidence including leaving certificate, caste certificate where applicable, SSC, HSC, graduation, postgraduate, professional qualification and experience certificates. Page 2 separately requires self-attested copies of all relevant documents plus the original certificates for verification at interview. A recent passport photo is indicated on the form. Carry the full official form and supporting evidence; do not replace the form with an unsolicited CV alone.
25 November arrival and document sequence
- Before travel: check the correct subject tick box, original postgraduate and NCTE teacher-training records, SSC medium, age, identity and, where claimed, category or disability certificates. Have the filled and signed official form with photo and organised self-attested copies.
- At 9:30 AM: attend Government Higher Secondary School, Diu for the scheduled walk-in process. The notice identifies this as the interview venue/time and states the written test will precede interview on the same day.
- At document verification: produce the originals against the copies; the authority must be able to verify the claimed qualifications and particulars.
- At written screening: complete the paper given on the day. Only a score of 40% or more permits entry to the interview stage; the notice does not disclose the paper's exact format.
- At interview: eligible candidates may be assessed following the written test. The notice does not prescribe a demo-lesson, experience-scoring table or interview weightage, so those cannot be presented as obligatory steps.
The notice does not mention an online registration portal, a postal receipt deadline, a hall-ticket download link, application-fee transfer or an application submission email. A walk-in with the original prescribed form is the stated method. Government notices after 5 November should be checked on the original UT administration portal for any genuine date or venue change.
⚖️ Short-term contract: what the ₹29,000 figure means
The ₹29,000 printed against every subject is fixed remuneration per month. It is not an advertised 7th-CPC pay scale or Pay Level, and the notice does not specify DA, HRA, pension, annual increments or travel reimbursement. The academic-year reference is 2026–27, but the document does not publish an exact beginning and ending day for each individual appointment; it says the engagement automatically ends when the contract period finishes or in accordance with directions issued by the Administration. Successful applicants have no claim to permanent regular appointment through this contract.
