Supreme Court Junior Court Attendant 2026 English-Only Objective Written Examination
Supreme Court Junior Court Attendant Objective Examination 2026 — exact scheme, scoring and preparation
The Supreme Court's notification F.3/2026-SC (RC) specifies a 100-question, 100-mark Objective Type Test of 90 minutes, with 25 questions in each of four sections. The test date is 26 December 2026 (tentative). A subsequent Recruitment Cell notice dated 3 November 2026 confirms that the test will be administered in English language only. Neither a Hindi version nor a separate language-option choice is offered by that notice.
The examination is a decisive screening stage before the 25-mark interview. The written minimum qualifying score is 50 marks, but the Registry may restrict interview invitations to a 1:3 ratio of tentative vacancies when sufficient candidates achieve that threshold. A candidate should therefore prepare for an effective merit competition, not just to scrape across the qualifying minimum.
📚 Official paper scheme
| Section | Questions | Maximum marks | Share of written total |
|---|---|---|---|
| General Intelligence and Reasoning | 25 | 25 | 25% |
| Numerical Aptitude | 25 | 25 | 25% |
| General English | 25 | 25 | 25% |
| General Awareness | 25 | 25 | 25% |
| Total | 100 | 100 | 100% |
This balanced four-way distribution is a practical warning against spending nearly all revision time on just one subject. The notice provides the four subject names and counts but does not publish a chapter-by-chapter syllabus or question-level difficulty profile. The preparation areas below are suitable practice coverage under those published headings, not a claim that every listed subtopic was individually prescribed by the Registry.
General Intelligence and Reasoning — 25 marks
A useful practice range is analogy and classification, series and patterns, direction sense, ordering, basic coding-decoding, simple logical statements, family relations and short arrangements. These are examples of widely used reasoning skills; the Supreme Court notice lists the broad heading only. Because there are 25 one-mark questions, a very long arrangement that absorbs a large portion of the paper should not crowd out shorter attainable questions.
Build a decision habit: For relationship questions, mark exactly who is related to whom; avoid silently changing 'elder brother of' to 'father of'. For direction problems, draw the directions instead of keeping them in your head. For number series, test differences and repetitions before choosing a complicated mathematical pattern. During review, distinguish factual mistakes from misread conditions. Accuracy matters because an incorrect response is worth minus 0.25, not zero.
Numerical Aptitude — 25 marks
Suggested preparation areas include arithmetic operations, decimals and fractions, percentages, ratio/proportion, averages, simple interest, profit/loss, basic time-and-work and interpreting small tables. None of those individual chapters receives a separately stated official weight in this recruitment. Focus on reliable calculations, unit conversions and choosing the right denominator in percentage questions.
A useful error audit: If 20% of 250 is asked, compute the fraction or decimal against the original base; don't confuse the resulting 50 with a 20% final balance. For a ratio of 3:2 over 100 units, check the sum of parts before allocating shares. Review arithmetic slips separately from concept gaps. Under negative marking, repeatedly guessing a calculation rather than checking the arithmetic can turn a plausible attempt into a net score loss.
General English — 25 marks, inside an English-only paper
The official subject is General English. Suitable revision practice includes short reading comprehension, words used in context, grammar and agreement, sentence order, basic error detection and everyday vocabulary. These are suggested skills, not additional chapters formally published in the advertisement. The entire objective paper is in English, so numerical and reasoning instructions may also require comfortable English reading.
For passage practice, identify what the question actually asks: a directly stated fact, a permissible inference or the meaning of a word in context. In grammar, choose the option that matches both the sentence's meaning and grammatical construction, rather than automatically selecting the most formal-sounding phrase. A candidate who can solve arithmetic in Hindi but struggles to interpret English question instructions should practise bilingual concept understanding privately, while answering English practice-paper prompts as the actual exam requires.
General Awareness — 25 marks
The official scheme announces General Awareness, not a formally itemised history-polity-science syllabus. Useful broad revision can cover Indian civic and constitutional fundamentals, the country and its geography, ordinary science, major national events and reliable current developments. Given the institution, awareness of the role of the judiciary and differences among India's courts can improve general understanding, but no special Supreme Court law-paper or separate legal-knowledge section is officially notified. Avoid buying or following a 'compulsory judicial law syllabus' based solely on the employer's name.
For current facts, write down the date and source of each development; avoid outdated information from old notes. When learning a government institution, focus on its function as well as its name. When revising geography or science, keep practical definitions, examples and common misconceptions together. The recruitment notice does not give a fixed number of months of current affairs, so treat any such claim as an unofficial preparation choice.
One mark right, quarter mark wrong: the score is arithmetic, not guesswork
The officially stated scoring rule is:
Written marks = number correct − (0.25 × number incorrect).
| Correct | Wrong | Unattempted | Worked score | Written minimum? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 60 | 20 | 20 | 55.00 | Meets 50 |
| 50 | 20 | 30 | 45.00 | Below 50 |
| 70 | 15 | 15 | 66.25 | Meets 50 |
| 55 | 10 | 35 | 52.50 | Meets 50 |
| 45 | 0 | 55 | 45.00 | Below 50 |
| 52 | 8 | 40 | 50.00 | Meets 50 |
These are hypothetical answer combinations, not sample cut-offs, actual scores of candidates or published answer-key results. Each scenario contains exactly 100 questions. A strong score on one subject does not cancel an unattempted entire paper when there are four equally weighted areas.
If an attempted answer is entirely uncertain, the penalty changes the risk of guessing. However, the smartest approach is not a blanket rule never to attempt; eliminate impossible options where genuine reasoning supports it, then decide based on time and confidence. Practise the 90-minute full-paper format so the last section is not rushed.
Time control without an invented sectional timer
The ratio 90 minutes ÷ 100 questions = 54 seconds per question is a pacing average, not a separate 54-second lock or a claimed official section limit. The original advertisement does not allocate 22.5 minutes to each subject. Work through familiar, low-risk questions first; return to calculations requiring more steps if the actual test interface permits review. Mark a question as unresolved rather than changing to a speculative option at the end without evaluating the one-quarter-mark penalty.
A useful mock-review table includes five numbers per section: attempted, correct, incorrect, skipped and time spent. Under the confirmed scoring rule, overall accuracy and time both matter. Check whether errors stem from English wording, a weak fact, a numerical slip or a reasoning assumption; each needs a different revision response. Do not mistake a mock's arbitrary 'safe score' for a Supreme Court-announced interview cut-off.
Written score 50 is a threshold; interview shortlisting may be narrower
The advertised minimum is 50/100. Where many candidates attain that minimum, the Registry may call candidates to interview at 1:3 against tentative vacancies, ranked by merit. At the notified 130 vacancies, 130 × 3 = 390 is an illustration of how the ratio would work at the current count. The notice neither publishes 390 actual interview calls nor guarantees that number, and the vacancy count itself can change.
The separate interview has 25 maximum marks and 13 minimum qualifying marks. Do not simply add the two minimums and claim the final panel cut-off is 63/125; the notice does not publish that as a binding selection threshold or a final ranking formula. Inclusion in a selection panel does not automatically confer a right to appointment.
Centres, admit cards and the tentative date
The original Annexure-A contains 131 centre-city entries across India, with preference choices subject to change. The objective examination is tentatively scheduled for 26 December 2026. The interview date and mode will follow the competent authority's arrangements; interview may be online or physically in Delhi. Admit cards must be downloaded from the Supreme Court's website; they are not sent by post. Use the registered email/mobile and application number to monitor official notices. The Registry has stated that it will not entertain centre/date change requests, and no TA/DA is payable for appearing.
Planned answer key, objection cost and refund rule
The notice plans to upload answer keys on 28 December 2026, with tentative online objections from 28 December to 29 December 2026 at 11:55 p.m. Candidates must use the prescribed online objection route; sending a general email or paper letter is not the notified process. The fee is ₹100 per objection, returned if the objection is found valid. Object only where the answer is genuinely contestable, supporting the reasoning through reliable evidence, and follow any final authority decision. These are prospective schedule details—not a declaration that a 2026 answer key has already been released.
Disability support and fair test arrangements
Eligible Persons with Disabilities may use prescribed concessions under Government of India directions. Appendix-I supplies the certificate regarding physical limitation in writing; Appendix-II supplies the undertaking for using an own scribe. The scribe's qualification must be compatible with Government rules, and the original evidence must be produced when required. The notice also provides compensatory time where admissible. Treat all such arrangements as document-dependent facilities, not automatic entitlements from merely selecting a category checkbox.
A preparation sequence tailored to this exact paper
First pass: check the education ceiling, application date and English-only paper language before investing in a course.
Second pass: diagnose your accuracy across the four equal 25-mark subjects; don't confuse low confidence with low ability.
Third pass: practise focused arithmetic/English/reasoning drills while checking General Awareness facts against primary sources.
Fourth pass: take full 90-minute, 100-question mixed practice tests under the real +1/−0.25 rule, then review incorrect and unattempted questions by cause.
Final pass: keep official notices, the application number and the downloadable hall ticket accessible; plan for an interview only if officially shortlisted. The approved examination scheme and any later instructions from the Supreme Court take precedence over assumptions borrowed from unrelated examinations.
Read the signed recruitment advertisement and the 3 November English-medium application notice before the examination.
Supreme Court Junior Court Attendant 2026 Interview and Selection Assessment
Supreme Court Junior Court Attendant Interview 2026 — 25 marks and a separate qualifying standard
Following the written objective test, eligible shortlisted candidates may be called for an interview carrying 25 marks. The minimum qualifying score is 13/25. The original recruitment notice does not prescribe a fixed interview duration, panel-question list, section-wise interview marks or a declared final written/interview weightage. It also does not announce an interview date. Do not treat a predicted question bank as an official examination syllabus.
How the interview relates to the written test
| Recruitment stage | Notified position |
|---|---|
| Objective examination | 100 questions, 100 marks, 90 minutes |
| Written minimum | 50/100 |
| Conditional interview restriction | Up to a 1:3 ratio against tentative vacancies if many clear written minimum |
| Interview assessment | 25 marks |
| Interview minimum | 13/25 |
| Interview venue/mode | Online or physical mode in Delhi, as directed |
| Interview date | Will be communicated separately |
The 1:3 provision means the interview is not a guaranteed next step for everyone with 50 marks. With 130 tentative vacancies, a 1:3 comparison is 390 candidates, but that is only an explanation of the stated ratio at the present vacancy figure. The Registry alone determines actual shortlisting and the final merit panel. Passing both minima does not guarantee selection.
Practical preparation connected to the notified job duties
The advertisement names everyday Registry support work: carrying files and paper books, maintaining office furniture and spaces, and serving water, tea, coffee, snacks or other refreshments. Interview preparation should therefore include thoughtful, plain answers about punctuality, following instructions, safely moving documents, keeping work spaces orderly, dealing respectfully with officials and visitors, and the importance of discretion in an institution that handles judicial records. The advertisement does not say these exact questions will be asked; they are realistic reflection topics for someone seeking the advertised role.
An applicant might practise explaining how to manage a file-delivery instruction where two offices request assistance at once: confirm priorities with the authorised supervisor, avoid leaving confidential records unattended and report completion accurately. Another practice scenario concerns an urgent request for refreshments while document movement is pending: communicate clearly instead of making assumptions or misplacing papers. Such judgement illustrates suitability for the stated support duties without implying that the Court has notified a separate practical test.
Document consistency and professional conduct
Bring the original documents requested in the eventual interview communication, with valid category/disability certificates where applicable. Government, PSU, statutory body and nationalised-bank employees are required to produce the necessary No Objection Certificate from the employer before the interview. A candidate who joins employment after applying should inform the Registry and obtain the required NOC. Name changes should be supported by Gazette evidence where the advertisement requires it.
Interviews may be online or physically in Delhi. The Registry has not committed to reimbursement of travel; TA/DA is not payable for the test or interview. Keep the registered mobile number and personal email accessible for correspondence; date and mode will come from official instructions. Do not travel on a guessed interview date.
How selection concludes
Qualified candidates can be empanelled in merit order for appointment consideration, subject to all checks and the Registry's decisions. The advertisement explicitly states that placement on the panel does not confer a right to claim appointment. Treat the 25-mark interview as a separate qualifying checkpoint with meaningful document verification, not a routine automatic formality. The official Supreme Court recruitment page is the source for the interview programme when notified.
