Reading the marks correctly for this position

The topic-wise question ranges given in Annexure-XI (p.55) are indicative where a range is printed. They should not be turned into an artificial fixed 50-question partition, because individual topic allocations may vary while the overall specialist section remains 50 marks. The other sections remain general awareness, reasoning, mathematics and Class 10 science.

A candidate is not eligible simply by studying this paper: A university degree in Law and three years of standing practice as a pleader at the Bar. Serving Railway employees holding a law degree with at least five years of service in any branch of Railway Administration are also eligible; see Annexure-A for the Railway Magistrate provision. An RRB can reject candidature at document verification if the professional credential, relevant subject or required experience is not supported by original evidence.

For example, 70 correct answers and 12 incorrect answers would give 70 − 12/3 = 66 net marks under the announced CBT negative-marking rule, with 18 unanswered. RRB CEN 09/2026 — Junior Translator (Hindi) Single Stage CBT

RRB Junior Translator (Hindi) 2026 — Exact 50:30:20 CBT and 60% Qualifying Translation Test

CEN 09/2026 · Category 4 · 79 posts · Level 6 ₹35,400 basic · C-2 medical.

The Junior Translator examination is not the same professional-ability format as the other six posts. There are 100 objective questions over 90 minutes, including 50 general, 30 Hindi and 20 English. Every incorrect answer in the CBT carries 1/3 negative marking. The 50 language questions cannot be treated as the usual specialist law or welfare section.

CBT partQuestions / marks
General knowledge, intelligence, elementary arithmetic and computer fundamentals50

Total100

Hindi: 30 questions, three from each officially named topic

Hindi-language section: 30 questions, three each on समानार्थी, पर्यायवाची, विलोम, प्रत्यय, उपसर्ग, संधि-विच्छेद, मुहावरे–लोकोक्तियाँ, तत्सम–तद्भव, वाक्यांश के लिए एक शब्द and शब्द/वाक्य शुद्धि.

The listed Hindi areas test meaning, sentence formation, vocabulary and correctness. Work directly with the ten prescribed items rather than assuming that an unrelated general Hindi literature syllabus is the question bank.

English: 20 questions, two from each official topic

English-language section: 20 questions, two each on synonyms/antonyms, translation into Hindi, suffix/prefix, phrases/idioms, arranging words, pronouns–verbs–tenses, articles/prepositions/conjunctions, adjectives/adverbs, question tags and active/passive voice.

Both language portions are printed only in their respective language. The official annexure describes a Class 12 (+2 stage) difficulty level for the language portion. The general half is different from the other six posts' professional syllabus and includes computer basics.

Selection after CBT

From CBT ranking, up to ten candidates per seat may be called for a separate qualifying translation test. Its required pass mark is 60%. The final Junior Translator merit is determined from CBT marks, provided the translation requirement is met; translation-test marks are not added as a second weighted score. No official translation passage, marking-breakdown-by-direction or test date has been declared.

Translation skills directly connected with the role

The official qualification requires translation training or recognised relevant experience. For professional readiness, accuracy in both directions, government terminology, precise syntax, names, figures, abbreviations and faithful meaning matters. This is task-specific orientation, not an announced question-paper blueprint beyond Annexure-IX.
