About this Recruitment

Recruitment-specific overview from the published record.

Indian Bank Apprentice 2026–27: check your graduation date before choosing a state

Indian Bank has advertised 1,500 apprenticeship training seats across 30 States and Union Territories. Online registration, application editing and payment run from 5 to 25 November 2026. This is a twelve-month training engagement under the Apprentices Act, 1961. It does not carry a promise of a permanent bank appointment.

The first eligibility check is unusually specific: graduation must have been completed between 1 April 2022 and 1 November 2026. A degree outside that period cannot be made eligible by a good examination score. The next check concerns previous work and training: one year or more of post-qualification job experience, or an earlier apprenticeship, can exclude an otherwise eligible graduate.

The registration period includes both opening and closing dates. The advertisement does not specify an exact closing clock time. Complete the payment and retain the receipt before the final day rather than treating a saved form as a completed application. The advertised editing window does not mean that every field remains editable after FINAL SUBMIT: the application instructions specifically warn that changes will not be entertained after that action.

Who meets the degree and experience conditions?

Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. Graduation must have been passed from 1 April 2022 through 1 November 2026, inclusive. The final result must have been declared by 1 November 2026 and supported by university/board evidence.

Applicant situationWhat the advertised rule means
Graduation passed in 2021Outside the permitted passing period
Graduation result declared on 1 November 2026Within the last permitted date, subject to evidence and all other criteria
Graduation result declared on 2 November 2026Beyond this recruitment’s qualification cut-off
One year or more of job experience after qualificationIneligible under the experience restriction
Previously completed apprenticeshipNot eligible for this apprenticeship engagement
Currently pursuing apprenticeshipThe restriction must be checked before applying

A final-year student awaiting results cannot use the application closing date as an extension of the qualification cut-off. Where a result was published online, keep official evidence of the declaration date. A later convocation date and the actual result declaration date are different events; use the qualification evidence requested by the bank.

Candidates should also check their NATS history before paying. Registration on an apprenticeship portal is not itself a guarantee that the bank will accept an applicant’s previous training or employment record. Declare the actual history and retain supporting documents.

Age, reservation certificates and nationality

The unrelaxed age range is 20–28 years on 1 November 2026. The corresponding date-of-birth range is 2 November 1998 to 1 November 2006, inclusive.

SC/ST: 5 years; OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years; PwBD: 10 years; persons affected by the 1984 riots: 5 years. For eligible widows, divorced women and legally separated women who have not remarried, maximum age is 35 for General/EWS, 38 for OBC and 40 for SC/ST. SC/ST/OBC relaxation may be combined with only one of the PwBD or 1984-riot categories as specified in the advertisement. Supporting certificates are required.

OBC reservation requires non-creamy-layer eligibility; the OBC-NCL certificate should have been issued on or after 1 April 2026. EWS evidence must relate to FY 2025–26 income and be valid for FY 2026–27, with the prescribed certificate available by document verification. PwBD reservation is horizontal, and the disability certificate/UDID evidence must meet the notice’s requirements, including its registration-deadline condition.

Indian citizens are covered. The notice also permits the specified Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan-refugee and persons-of-Indian-origin categories subject to the Government of India eligibility-certificate conditions. Ex-servicemen and Disabled Ex-servicemen are expressly excluded from engagement as apprentices under this notice; do not apply another bank recruitment’s ex-servicemen rules here.

Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal together account for 700 of 1,500 seats, or 46.67%. This is a distribution calculation, not a selection-probability estimate. The number of applicants and category-wise competition are not published. Language readiness, documentary eligibility and the ability to train in the allotted district matter more than choosing the largest total on the page.

District preference is not a posting guarantee

The registration instructions refer to three preferred districts within the chosen State/UT. The later conditions explain that the resident district receives first preference, with two neighbouring districts as additional choices. Read these provisions together when filling the actual form. The bank retains discretion to allot any district in the selected State/UT according to vacancies and requirements.

For Jharkhand, 60 seats comprise SC 7, ST 15, OBC 7, EWS 6 and UR 25. The language options are Hindi or Santhali. Jamtara appears in Annexure III, along with other Jharkhand districts; the document does not assign a separate guaranteed number of seats to Jamtara. The state’s 60 seats must not be repeated as 60 seats for each listed district.

The same distinction applies elsewhere: Annexure III identifies districts where training may be provided. It is not a district-by-district numerical vacancy roster. Applicants should consider travel, accommodation and daily training attendance before submitting preferences.

Rural / Semi-Urban₹12,300₹6,150₹6,150

📊 Monthly stipend by branch category

CategoryRupees per month
Metro / Urban15000
Rural / Semi-Urban12300

The government component is part of the total, not an additional payment on top of ₹15,000 or ₹12,300. No other allowances or benefits are promised. The notice also states that EPF and ESI contributions do not apply to the bank for this apprenticeship engagement.

At an unchanged monthly rate for all twelve months, the arithmetic totals would be ₹1,80,000 or ₹1,47,600. Actual entitlement remains subject to attendance, training and contract conditions. These figures should not be presented as guaranteed annual salary or a permanent employee’s package.

Normal bank/CSA working hours apply; apprentices cannot work overtime. One casual leave is earned on completing one month, with no more than four casual leaves taken together. The notice requires more than 338 paid days during the twelve-month period for the Certificate of Proficiency. Training includes theoretical and practical assessment, and successful completion leads to a digital certificate through BOAT(SR)/NATS.

Before accepting: understand early-exit conditions

Routine early departure is allowed at the end of the relevant month with a termination cost equivalent to one month’s stipend, including the BOAT-SR component. The notice separately provides relief for gainful employment supported by an appointment order and qualifying medical grounds supported by the prescribed medical evidence. These are distinct provisions; a candidate should use the applicable route rather than simply stop attending.

Dropout or absconding during a quarter carries a separate stipend-recovery condition covering the payments for that quarter. Failure to fulfil the contract can also attract the apprenticeship-adviser provisions. Normally the contract ends after twelve months without extension. Medical fitness is required before engagement, and completion does not create a right to regular or contractual employment with Indian Bank.

Examination and language qualification

The online examination contains 100 objective questions for 100 marks in 60 composite minutes. Reasoning has 15 marks, Computer Knowledge 10, and English, Quantitative Aptitude and banking-focused General Awareness 25 each. There are no individual sectional qualifying cut-offs in the notice; the aggregate qualifying level is decided by the bank. SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates receive the stated 5% relaxation in that aggregate standard.

Merit is State/UT-wise and category-wise. Equal scores at the cut-off are resolved by descending age; multiple sessions, if held, use equi-percentile normalization. A wait list will also be prepared. The bank may conduct an interview or dispense with it. Negative marking is not specified in this advertisement, so follow subsequent official test instructions rather than importing a penalty rule from another examination.

Local-language proficiency covers reading, writing, speaking and understanding. Candidates producing an 8th, 10th or 12th-standard certificate/marksheet showing that they studied their opted specified language need not take the language test. Others must qualify in LLPT after the online test; failure prevents engagement. Attendance at that language-test centre is at the candidate’s own expense.

🧾 Application charges and documents

Applicant categoryFee before GST
General / OBC / EWS₹800

GST and applicable transaction charges are additional. The fee is non-refundable. There is no separate women-only fee concession stated in this notice.

Register on NATS 2.0, complete the profile to 100%, and save the Enrolment ID. Then follow the Indian Bank apprenticeship application route from official Careers. NATS enrolment and successful submission of the bank application are separate checks.

Keep graduation/result-date evidence, date-of-birth proof, identity documents, applicable category certificates and school language evidence ready. Enter the same name as in the supporting records. Only one State/UT application is allowed; where multiple applications exist, only the latest valid completed application is retained and the other fees are forfeited.

Use the exact declaration text in Annexure II. It must be in the candidate’s own handwriting, subject to the disability accommodations stated there. Preview every image before final submission: a blurred thumb impression or cropped declaration can make an otherwise complete form unusable.

Questions worth settling before payment

Can a higher degree replace the graduation passing-date condition? The advertised condition refers to graduation. A recent postgraduate degree does not by itself change the date on which graduation was passed.

Does a school Hindi certificate give exemption everywhere? Only where Hindi is a specified language for the chosen State/UT and is the opted language supported by the required school evidence.

Is the largest state automatically the safest choice? No applicant totals are available. A state with more seats may also attract more applications; select a state where language and practical training requirements can be met.

Are examination and admit-card dates available? They are not announced in this advertisement. Check official Careers and the application correspondence for subsequent notices.

Read the complete official advertisement for certificate conditions, disability accommodations, examination conduct and the complete district list. Current application access and subsequent notices belong on Indian Bank Careers.

Post description

Apprentice: twelve months of structured bank training

This engagement is intended for eligible recent graduates seeking supervised banking experience. It is not a permanent clerical appointment, and the title should not be converted into Customer Service Associate merely because normal CSA working hours apply during training.

Eligibility before application

Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. Graduation must have been passed from 1 April 2022 through 1 November 2026, inclusive. The final result must have been declared by 1 November 2026 and supported by university/board evidence.

No prior work experience is required. Candidates with one year or more of job experience after completion of educational qualifications are ineligible. Previous or ongoing apprenticeship, and apprenticeship terminated because of the candidate’s fault, are restricted under the notice.

A candidate should prepare a chronology showing the graduation result date, any subsequent employment and any earlier apprenticeship. The purpose is to establish that the restrictions are met, not to accumulate experience points. The notice does not offer higher preference simply for having worked longer; one year or more of post-qualification job experience is an exclusion.

The unrelaxed age range is 20–28 on 1 November 2026. Apply the applicable age-relaxation rule with documentary evidence. Do not change category after discovering that a chosen state has fewer reserved seats: the application and supporting certificates must remain consistent.

Location and language

The 1,500 seats are spread across the 30 States/UTs listed in the recruitment table. Only one State/UT may be selected. District preferences are subject to the resident/nearby-district provisions and bank allotment. Training can be in a district other than the first preference within the selected State/UT.

The candidate must know one of that State/UT’s specified local languages. School evidence from class 8, 10 or 12 can provide the advertised LLPT exemption; otherwise the candidate must pass the language test after the online examination. This is an engagement condition, not simply an optional language skill.

What the stipend covers

Monthly stipend is ₹15,000 in Metro/Urban branches or ₹12,300 in Rural/Semi-Urban branches. The stated government contribution is included in these amounts. No additional allowance or permanent salary scale is specified for the apprentice.

When comparing locations, consider accommodation and commuting costs against the stipend for the allotted branch category. The advertisement does not guarantee an urban branch just because an applicant lives in a city. The engagement normally ends after twelve months and does not give a right to a bank job.

Attendance, conduct and completion

Follow normal banking training hours, maintain the confidentiality of bank/customer information and complete the theoretical/practical assessment. One casual leave is earned per completed month, with a maximum of four taken together. The notice’s more-than-338-paid-days condition matters for the Certificate of Proficiency.

Early exit, absence and misconduct have separate contractual consequences. A candidate obtaining employment should use the documented exit provision rather than abscond; a medical-ground exit requires the specified medical evidence. Keep the engagement contract and communications safely until settlement and certificate completion.

Before submitting

Check graduation dates and prior training first, then State/UT and language, followed by category documents and NATS profile completeness. Review the photograph, live photo, signature, thumb impression and declaration before final submission. Complete the fee payment and retain its receipt. A valid application requires more than an Enrolment ID or a saved draft.

Duties

Undertake the bank’s twelve-month on-the-job training and prescribed theoretical/practical assessment; comply with attendance, conduct and confidentiality obligations.

Responsibilities
  • Follow bank training hours and instructions.
  • Protect bank and customer information.
  • Complete theoretical and practical training assessments.
  • Maintain attendance and meet the conditions for the Certificate of Proficiency.
Post-specific instructions
  • Graduation must have been passed from 1 April 2022 to 1 November 2026, inclusive.
  • Check the prior-apprenticeship and one-year post-qualification employment exclusions.
  • Complete the NATS profile to 100% and retain the Enrolment ID.
  • Apply for only one State/UT and choose its specified local language.
  • District preferences are not guaranteed postings.
  • Complete registration and fee payment from 5 to 25 November 2026.
  • Review training stipend and early-exit conditions before accepting the contract.
Reservation note

SC 252, ST 82, OBC 348, EWS 142, UR 676: total 1,500. The 48 PwBD seats (VI 12, HI 12, OH 13, ID 11) are included horizontally. State/UT and category-wise distribution is in the recruitment description. Provisional training vacancies.
