J&K Bank Probationary Officer Recruitment 2026 — 323 Vacancies in Jammu & Kashmir
JKB/HR/Rectt/2026-492 | Notification dated 7 November 2026 | Online registration: 7–26 November 2026
Jammu & Kashmir Bank Limited, Corporate Headquarters, M.A. Road, Srinagar, has announced 323 Probationary Officer positions for domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. These are bank officer-cadre vacancies in Junior Management Grade Scale-I. Applications are accepted online through the bank's official Careers section; the examinations will be arranged by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). This is a separate recruitment from the bank's Ladakh PO and Banking Associate notifications.
The most important eligibility condition is territorial: the applicant must be a J&K UT domicile. Merely having studied, resided temporarily or worked in the region does not replace a valid domicile certificate issued by the competent authority. The bank also requires a selected officer to remain in the initially allotted zone for at least five years before transfer outside that zone. That restriction is separate from the officer's service bond and probation terms.
At a glance
The 323 vacancies and what the reservation table actually states
The bank has published one total figure of 323 Probationary Officer posts, rather than a recruitment-wise integer seat roster for each reservation group. Its advertisement instead specifies the applicable Jammu & Kashmir Reservation Rules, 2005, as amended, and S.O. 176 dated 15 March 2024. These rates govern the reservation process; they must not be presented as already announced counts for a particular category.
The Scheduled Tribes total is 20%, displayed by the notice as two 10% groups: the earlier listed tribes and the additional groups brought under the 2024 amendment. This is not a double reservation or two different PO job titles. Similarly, OBC, ALC/IB and RBA are separately named categories in the notified J&K structure.
The 4% reservation for persons with benchmark disabilities is horizontal; it overlaps the relevant vertical reservation roster and is not an extra 4% added to 323 posts. Four prescribed disability group shares of 1% each are set out in the advertisement, subject to identified posts and eligibility. A physically disabled applicant must follow the bank's identified-disability criteria and provide the relevant competent-authority certificate. Neither the above percentages nor their combined totals justify inventing individual integer vacancy allotments.
A candidate selected on open-category merit is treated in accordance with the notification's own-merit rule rather than automatically using a reserved seat merely because a reservation certificate is held. Reserved-category certificates must already be valid on the date of online registration. Applicants should not defer obtaining certificates until the examination or interview stage.
Comparison of notified vertical reservation rates
📊 J&K Bank PO: notified vertical reservation rates
These bar values are policy percentages, not confirmed seat allocations. The horizontal PwBD allowance is deliberately kept out of the vertical comparison to avoid double-counting.
Eligibility: domicile, degree, age and proof
J&K domicile is mandatory
Only domiciles of Jammu & Kashmir UT are eligible for this 323-post advertisement. The bank requires the selected candidate to provide a domicile certificate issued by the competent authority. The alternative Ladakh PO advertisement has different jurisdiction and reservation rules; a Ladakh domicile alone is not eligibility for this J&K-specific application.
Graduation: discipline is open, completion date is not
A graduate degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government / UGC, is accepted. The candidate must already hold the qualification by 26 November 2026. A degree from a named subject such as Commerce, Economics or Business Administration is not prescribed as the only educational route. The bank requires valid marksheets or a degree certificate establishing that the graduate qualification was obtained by the deadline.
The registration form requires candidates to state their graduation percentage. Where the university awards CGPA or OGPA, conversion to percentage must follow the university's procedure, and an appropriate university certificate establishing the conversion methodology and resulting marks may be required. The advertisement uses marks across all subjects in all semesters/years, rather than taking only honours or optional papers when the university classifies honours separately. Candidates should enter the accurate value to two decimal places: the bank expressly warns that 59.99% cannot be treated as 60% and 54.99% cannot be treated as 55% by upward rounding. This is a calculation rule, not an announced minimum graduation-percentage cutoff for PO eligibility.
Exact age reference: 1 January 2026
The ordinary age interval is 20–30 years on 1 January 2026, with both birth-date boundaries expressly included: born no earlier than 1 January 1996 and no later than 1 January 2006. The main reference date is not the application-opening date, last application date or interview date.
SC and ST candidates have the advertised five-year upper-age relaxation, while the notified socially and educationally backward classes receive three years. Eligible PwBD candidates receive ten years; the notification allows specified cumulative use of disability concessions with SC/ST/SEBC upper-age relief. EWS applicants have the announced reservation benefit but no independent EWS age extension. Applicants should establish the precise applicable class through their valid certificate rather than selecting multiple concessions by adding all the percentages or years indiscriminately.
EWS and PwBD documents: early checks matter
Applicants using EWS reservation should obtain an income-and-assets certificate valid for 2026–27 and in the form required by the competent authority. Disability reservation is available for the prescribed benchmark disabilities and identified job requirements; the notice discusses visual, hearing, locomotor, intellectual and multiple-disability categories. A benchmark disability is generally evidenced through the prescribed certificate demonstrating the qualifying percentage; the bank may authenticate the UDID/disability certificate with issuing authorities and may require fresh medical assessment for verification. The notice expressly refers to restrictions concerning certain temporary disability certificates marked likely to improve. These rules affect proof and eligibility, not the academic degree route.
For candidates requiring a scribe or compensatory time, it is critical to select the facility in the application itself. Certain categories must upload a government medical certificate establishing limitation in writing and the necessity of a scribe; where applicable, the scribe's qualification must be one step below that of the candidate. Eligible candidates may receive 20 minutes compensatory time per hour, or as separately advised. The candidate generally arranges the scribe, and the same scribe cannot act for multiple candidates in the recruitment. Scribes must not independently solve or prompt answers. The bank's provisions also recognise magnified-font access for eligible visually impaired candidates, subject to incompatibility with simultaneous scribe-based display use. Read the required disability and scribe conditions before choosing the facility in registration.
Salary, probation, five-year zone rule and ₹2 lakh bond
The current starting basic pay is ₹48,480, on the notified Junior Management Grade Scale-I progression:
₹48,480–2,000/7–62,480–2,340/2–67,160–2,680/7–85,920.
The bank refers to other perks applicable to JMGS-I; it does not announce a single uniform in-hand salary, posting-specific HRA, guaranteed incentive or monthly net-pay figure. The increments are part of the published pay scale, not proof that every recruit starts at its maximum. Two different time commitments must be understood:
- Probation: two years from joining, with annual review of performance and conduct. Confirmation requires satisfactory service and passing the bank's qualifying evaluation examination: minimum 40% for General or 35% for reserved categories. This evaluation is a post-joining confirmation condition, not an additional announced competitive recruitment paper.
- Service bond: a joining-time bond of ₹2,00,000 to serve for at least two years. The bank states it can invoke the bond if the recruit resigns before completing two years from joining.
- Territorial commitment: the first allotted zone must be served for at least five years, and transfer outside that zone is not permitted before the period is completed. The shorter bond/probation periods do not waive the five-year posting requirement.
- Joining deadline: a selected candidate must join within 45 days of the provisional appointment letter; this is measured from letter issuance, not a fixed date in November.
The advertisement does not allocate a specific district, branch, sales target, departmental desk or work schedule to every officer; those are determined by the bank's posting arrangements.
Selection: three phases, with exact test marks and advancement thresholds
The bank has prescribed Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Interview. The online tests will be conducted by IBPS, while the bank conducts interviews for shortlisted candidates. At both written stages, candidates must meet prescribed section-wise qualifying scores as well as aggregate standards. The separate section cutoffs are decided by IBPS in concurrence with the bank and should not be mistaken for a single published numeric cutoff for every test.
Preliminary Examination — 100 questions, 100 marks, 60 minutes
Each Preliminary section runs in its own 20-minute slot and the listed language is English. Notably, Quantitative Aptitude has 35 questions but 30 marks, while Reasoning has 35 questions and 40 marks—there is no basis to assume one mark per question across every section. The minimum aggregate for the Preliminary stage is 40% for General and 35% for reserved-category applicants, subject to overall merit and the required section-wise cutoffs. From those eligible on the Preliminary performance, the bank shortlists approximately ten times the vacancies in each category for Mains. A particular category's actual shortlisting count depends on its genuine roster and qualifying candidates; multiplying 323 by ten is not a guaranteed individual category figure.
Main Examination — 225 marks including the descriptive paper
Four separately timed objective sections comprise 170 questions, 200 marks and 160 minutes. The additional English descriptive paper contains two tasks—essay and comprehension—for 25 marks in 30 minutes. Thus the notified Mains maximum is 225 marks over 190 minutes, not 200 marks alone. The official general-awareness heading expressly covers general, economy, banking, digital and financial awareness, including RBI circulars; the descriptive topics may broadly touch economic and social issues, banking and technology trends, current events and ethics. The notification does not provide a fixed chapter-by-chapter syllabus for other subjects or publish the future paper questions.
The Main Examination requires both minimum per-test marks and a qualifying aggregate of 40% for General or 35% for reserved-category applicants, subject to category merit. Approximately three times the available seats in each reservation category are shortlisted for interview from Mains performance. Main scores of those selected for interview are not disclosed before interviews conclude.
Negative marking and score normalisation
The penalty in both Preliminary and Main objective papers is one-fourth of the marks assigned to each incorrectly answered question; unanswered questions carry no penalty. This does not justify deducting an identical 0.25 mark from every section's wrong answer when the per-question marks differ. The bank/IBPS may use the equi-percentile normalisation method for corrected scores across multiple sessions to account for differing question-paper difficulty. Scores for calculations are taken to two decimal places. The published rule applies to objective questions, not an invented negative-marking formula for the descriptive essay or interview.
Interview: qualifying requirement and final 80:20 weightage
The Interview carries 100 marks, with a qualifying minimum of 40 marks for General and 35 marks for reserved categories. Candidates who fail the required interview standard cannot qualify for final selection simply because their Main score is high. The published final merit formula combines Mains examination and interview performance in an 80:20 ratio. Preliminary examination marks are used to shortlist for Mains, not stated as a third component of final merit.
🥧 J&K Bank PO: officially notified final-merit weightage
The bank computes the combined score under its stated relative-weightage rules; 225 raw Mains marks plus 100 raw Interview marks should not be added as an unweighted 325-mark final score. If multiple qualified candidates obtain equal combined scores, the older candidate ranks ahead under the notification's date-of-birth tie rule. A reserve list of up to 50% of vacancies in each category may be kept for one year after the selection list or until a new recruitment notification, whichever is earlier. Placement on that list does not assure appointment, and the bank need not issue a separate notice when it expires.
Application fee: two actual prescribed rates
The notice sets an application/intimation charge of ₹1,000 excluding GST for SC/ST/SEBC/PwBD candidates, and ₹1,200 excluding GST for other applicants. Gateway/bank transaction charges are additional. In this advertisement, EWS is not included in the reduced-fee list merely by virtue of EWS reservation. Fees must be paid online between 7 and 26 November 2026, inclusive, using an allowed debit/credit card, internet banking, IMPS or other enabled payment mode.
📊 J&K Bank PO: notified application fees before GST
The submitted form is not complete until the payment is successful and the e-receipt is generated. The bank states that paid fees are not refundable and are not held for another recruitment. If the transaction fails or no e-receipt appears, use the registration login to complete payment again according to the bank's instructions. Retain both the receipt and printable final application.
Applying online: exact sequence and files to prepare
Go to the official https://jkb.bank.in/ Careers section, open the Jammu & Kashmir Probationary Officer, 323-post notice, and use the bank's linked Apply Online facility. The separate Ladakh PO notice is not interchangeable with this J&K advertisement. Registration is open 7–26 November 2026; the notice does not state an exact closing clock time, so applicants should complete the process well ahead of the last day.
- Choose New Registration, enter your name, contact details and active email address, and retain the generated provisional registration number and password. Use Save and Next to check details before completing registration; after final confirmation, the bank does not ordinarily permit changes.
- Enter domicile, education, graduation percentage, reservation category, age, examination-centre choices and all other required particulars accurately. The spelling of name should agree with the school, degree and photo-ID records.
- Upload recent photograph, your own ink signature, thumb impression and handwritten English declaration. The bank also requires a live captured photograph from a webcam or phone using the offered capture procedure.
- Upload the relevant certificate PDFs as prescribed for your eligibility, reserve class, apprenticeship (if applicable), disability or scribe situation. PDF is the required format for certificate uploads, with an individual limit of 500 KB. The bank instructs candidates to combine educational certificates into one PDF and experience certificates into a separate combined PDF where relevant.
- Preview all filled information and uploaded images, then complete registration, pay the applicable fee and download/print the e-receipt and completed form. The bank treats an incomplete or unpaid form as unsubmitted.
Exact document-image specifications
The declaration must be written in the candidate's own handwriting except the specific accessible alternative allowed for eligible visually impaired applicants. It reads:
I, _______ (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.
Do not upload another person's handwriting or a capital-letter signature. File corruption, blurred scans, improper placement of photo/signature, or inconsistent signatures can invalidate registration or later identity checks. Keep multiple copies of the same photograph for the Main examination and interview.
Files listed for upload at registration
The bank's advertisement identifies the 10th passing/marks certificate, Graduation degree or consolidated marksheet, and—where applicable—apprenticeship completion certificate, ex-serviceman document, disability certificate in the prescribed form and the medical certificate regarding limitation in writing. Not every optional certificate applies to every applicant; upload the relevant documents that support the claims entered in your application.
Examination-centre choices, call letters and venue checks
The bank requires candidates to select six examination-centre preferences, including at least three centres outside the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Inside J&K, the stated options include Pulwama, Jammu, Srinagar, Baramulla and Samba. Other listed choices include Delhi NCR, Patiala, Mohali, Amritsar, Pathankot, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Phagwara, Bengaluru, Mumbai/Navi Mumbai/Thane and Pune. Centre allocation remains subject to capacity and bank discretion, so selecting a city does not guarantee that city.
The dates of Prelims, Mains, Interview and corresponding call-letter releases are not yet announced. Call letters must be downloaded from the bank's official website; the bank does not send paper hall tickets. Use the registration/roll number with password/date of birth when the download window opens. The final venue, reporting time and exam time will appear in the call letter.
At the Preliminary examination carry the correct call letter, matching original valid photo ID, photocopy of that ID and additional photograph as instructed. Keep the stamped/authenticated Preliminary call letter and stamped ID photocopy after Prelims, because they must be brought to Mains along with the separate Mains call letter. Losing the authenticated Prelims documents can prevent attendance at Mains. Ration cards and learner's driving licences are not accepted as the prescribed ID proof. Name changes require the supporting original Gazette notification or marriage certificate as applicable.
On the Mains examination day the bank may capture biometric data (typically right thumb) and photograph before and after the exam, with later matching at interview/document verification and joining. Clean, dry fingers and compliance with biometric identification instructions matter; refusal may lead to cancellation. Late reporting is not permitted. Candidates should not bring mobiles, smart devices, cameras, watches, calculators or other prohibited articles; the venue does not guarantee safekeeping.
Interview-stage original documents and NOC requirement
Shortlisted candidates must bring originals and self-attested copies of relevant certificates. These include the Interview Call Letter, final application printout, date-of-birth proof, matching photo ID, graduation marksheets/degree, J&K domicile proof, valid caste/reserved-category certificate, EWS income-and-assets certificate where relevant, prescribed PwBD documentation, scribe details if used, and any other evidence requested by the bank.
Government, quasi-government, public-sector and nationalised-bank employees need an appropriate employer No Objection Certificate at interview. The bank says a conditional NOC that merely permits appearing at an interview is insufficient. Selected candidates already employed elsewhere must also submit proper discharge/release documentation at joining. Failure to bring requested originals can bar the interview or later appointment even after a strong written score.
Candidate decisions that should not be missed
- Domicile: do not confuse the J&K and Ladakh notifications, even though the bank and examination agency are the same.
- Degree: an acceptable graduation result must exist by 26 November; being in the final semester without the requisite result is not enough.
- Category claim: possess the valid category certificate on the registration date, and check whether SC/ST, SEBC, EWS or PwBD rules actually apply to your case.
- Application: an online form without successful payment, clear uploaded documents and a completed submission is not a valid application.
- Selection: Prelims is a shortlisting filter; the weighted final score is formed from qualified Mains plus interview performance.
- Employment commitment: two-year probation and service bond do not cancel the five-year posting restriction.
- Future announcements: examination schedules, genuine call letters and results will be provided by the bank only through its authorised channels; no date can be treated as announced in advance.
