APTRT–2026 General Schools: official selection facts and a disciplined syllabus reading
The signed School Education brief notice dated 13 October 2026 confirms an objective-type computer-based recruitment test for the School Assistant and Secondary Grade Teacher cadres. Their detailed subject-wise pattern is not printed in the brief notice. The Department has published a separate DSC-2026 suggestive syllabus, which should be consulted in its original post- and subject-specific form. No exact CBT date, penalty, total marks, number of sections or final selection-weight formula can be verified from the attached brief notice.
A School Assistant must align preparation with the subject stated in the detailed vacancy roster; a Secondary Grade Teacher must align with the elementary-grade and teacher-methodology syllabus. Useful subject preparation involves interpreting concepts, identifying pupils' errors and constructing age-appropriate explanations, but those preparation skills should not be confused with a newly announced practical examination.
The detailed 2026 notification and its addenda, rather than previous year handouts, govern eligibility, question format, admission to CBT and score-based ranking. See official syllabus: https://tet2dsc.apcfss.in/DSC2026/DSC_2026%20Suggestive%20Syllabus.pdf
School Assistant subject-specific focus
Where School Assistant and SGT differ
School Assistant (906 tentative vacancies) is the subject/cadre-specific school teaching stream. The final subject-wise list matters: a candidate eligible to teach one school subject should not assume all 906 seats are open to that discipline. Degree subject combinations, professional training, medium and eligibility-test conditions have to match the detailed recruitment rules.
Secondary Grade Teacher (1,205 tentative vacancies) is a separate cadre, not merely a lower-paid School Assistant label. The applicable teacher-education qualification, recognition and testing conditions must be checked against the SGT section of the detailed bulletin. A candidate with a higher degree alone should not presume eligibility without the professional qualification required for the advertised cadre.
The two categories are advertised for Government, Zilla Parishad, Mandal Parishad, Municipal and Municipal Corporation schools, with district-specific allocations. They are not the residential society PGT/TGT/Principal posts advertised under No.3.
