Category 5 · 27 vacancies · Age 18–33 on 1 January 2027 · Level 6 starting basic ₹35,400 · Medical C-1.
Unlike other Railway recruitment exams, this is a qualification-specific test: labour regulation, industrial relations, social insurance and personnel welfare. The official structure retains 50 Professional Ability marks plus 50 general marks, while the specialist questions are taken from the detailed Annexure-X (p.54).
Common sections for the six non-Translator posts (indicative marks): General Awareness 15; General Intelligence & Reasoning 15; Mathematics 10; General Science 10. For each post there are additionally 50 Professional Ability questions, set from its own Annexure. The 100-question CBT lasts 90 minutes, with 120 minutes where eligible scribe assistance applies, and has 1/3 negative marking per wrong answer. The sectional distribution can vary in the actual paper.
General Awareness: Indian geography, Constitution/polity, history and freedom movement, economy, arts and culture, sports, environmental issues and scientific/technological developments. Reasoning: series, analogy, coding, classification, direction, syllogism, relations, data interpretation, logical conclusions. Mathematics: percentages, ratio, time–work–distance, mensuration, algebra, arithmetic interest, profit/loss, elementary statistics, geometry and calendars/clocks. General Science: Physics, Chemistry and life sciences through CBSE Class 10 level.
CBT eligibility standards: UR and EWS 40%, OBC-NCL and SC 30%, ST 25%; the published limited PwBD relaxation does not guarantee shortlisting. The RRB may apply multi-shift normalisation and RRB-wise competitive merit.

Reading the marks correctly for this position
The topic-wise question ranges given in Annexure-X (p.54) are indicative where a range is printed. They should not be turned into an artificial fixed 50-question partition, because individual topic allocations may vary while the overall specialist section remains 50 marks. The other sections remain general awareness, reasoning, mathematics and Class 10 science.
A candidate is not eligible simply by studying this paper: Graduation PLUS one eligible professional qualification: Diploma in Labour/Social Welfare; Diploma in Labour Laws; LLB with Labour Laws papers; PG Diploma in Personnel Management; MBA with Personnel Management papers; MBA-HR; OR Government-recognised PG Diploma HRM with relevant Personnel Management papers. An RRB can reject candidature at document verification if the professional credential, relevant subject or required experience is not supported by original evidence.
Score interpretation and medical gate
For example, 70 correct answers and 12 incorrect answers would give 70 − 12/3 = 66 net marks under the announced CBT negative-marking rule, with 18 unanswered. This arithmetic is illustrative, not a predicted cut-off. Only advertised minimum community qualifying percentages are known; actual shortlisting depends on RRB-wise ranking, reservation and the number of posts.
After the CBT, Railway medical fitness for C-1 is still required. The examination schedule has not been declared in the uploaded detailed CEN.
Official basis: CEN 09/2026 Paras 13.0–13.3; Annexure-X (p.54); Annexure-A p.30–31.
