About this Recruitment

Recruitment-specific overview from the published record.

GSSSB CCE 2026–27: 1,237 Class-III places across nine cadres — choosing the right main examination

The Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board has advertised 1,237 Class-III positions in a single combined competitive examination under Advertisement 468/202627, dated 3 November 2026. The central decision is not merely which post offers more vacancies: Group-A and Group-B lead to different main examinations after a shared 150-mark preliminary screening. There are 243 Group-A places across eight cadres and 994 Group-B Junior Clerk places. The advertised work offices are in Gujarat; a national recruitment label would not turn them into postings all over India.

The application form opens on 5 November 2026 at 14:00 and closes on 30 November 2026 at 23:59. The separate examination-fee deadline is 2 December 2026 at 23:59. All dates and clock times here refer to local Indian time. An application saved without confirmation and payment should not be treated as complete.

The Group-A total is built from eight distinct cadres. A person aiming at Senior Clerk or Office Assistant cannot substitute the Junior Clerk Group-B main syllabus merely because the titles sound clerical. Office Assistant is Group A, Senior Clerk is Group A, and Junior Clerk alone is Group B.

The percentage split is approximately 19.64% Group A versus 80.36% Group B. That tells you how places are distributed, not the chance of selection; the notice publishes no applicant totals. The 994 Junior Clerk places do not form one transferable national pool, and the office-wise roster still matters.

Gujarat publishes SEBC, its Socially and Educationally Backward Class category, rather than treating that category as a generic all-India OBC label. The category allocation is a vertical division. Women, eligible former service members and persons with disabilities have separate horizontal provisions within those totals; never add them to 1,237. The official department roster also distinguishes functional disability classifications by post. A vacancy with no separate earmarked PwBD seat may nevertheless have certain eligible disability classifications for general competition, subject to the notified conditions. Original Gujarat reserved-category benefits require the prescribed Gujarat status and certificates.

🥧 All vacancies by vertical category

ReservationSeats
UR556
EWS131
SEBC295

Women’s seats are included in each vertical category, not another layer of new jobs. Group-A women-reserved figures in the advertisement total 30 UR, 7 EWS, 17 SEBC, 6 SC and 12 ST. Group-B figures are 149 UR, 33 EWS, 77 SEBC, 14 SC and 47 ST. The fact that a vacancy has no earmarked female seat does not mean otherwise eligible women cannot compete for non-earmarked places.

🎓 Eligibility: graduation, computer knowledge and language

A recognised bachelor's degree (or government-recognised equivalent), basic knowledge of computer use under the Gujarat service rules, and adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both are common requirements. The qualification must be satisfied by the application closing date. A recent bachelor’s degree does not create a separate preference or exemption in the common competitive examination. Candidates who have the required computer familiarity but lack prescribed documentary evidence should read the notified provision carefully: the relevant computer-knowledge evidence must be produced before appointment where applicable. A form field indicating computer familiarity is not a substitute for the required proof at that stage.

The ordinary age band is 20–35 years on 30 November 2026. Age concessions depend on Gujarat reservation status, sex, disability or former-service conditions, and are not interchangeable with eligibility for reserved seats.

General-category men35 years

Eligible reserved-category menFive-year relaxation
Eligible reserved-category womenTen-year relaxation, overall ceiling 45
PwBD categoriesAdditional relaxation under the stated combinations, overall ceiling 45
Ex-servicemenService period plus three years under the notice

A reserved-category applicant opting for an unreserved vacancy must review the notice’s restriction on claiming reserved age concessions. For SEBC, the non-creamy-layer certificate window and acceptable state/central forms matter; a married SEBC woman’s stated parent-income rule is particularly important. EWS applicants must hold one of the accepted current-form certificates within the prescribed issue period. Claiming an unavailable certificate and hoping to replace it after closing can cost eligibility.

💰 Fixed salary: do not mistake it for first-month take-home pay

The notice specifies a fixed monthly payment for the first five years, not nine conventional pay scales. Subsequent regular-pay consideration is conditional on satisfactory service, the cited Gujarat orders and the stated pending judicial decision; it is not an automatic increase on a calendar date. No individual in-hand salary, travel allowance total or city-specific posting allowance is guaranteed by this table.

A useful comparison: Office Assistant and Senior Clerk share the ₹26,000 first-five-year fixed payment with Junior Clerk, yet their main examination is Group A. Sub Registrar Grade-I, Assistant Tribal Development Officer and Office Superintendent carry the ₹49,600 fixed figure. Salary and exam stream are two independent choices.

💳 Fees: attendance changes the refund outcome

Who paysExamination fee
Unreserved category applicants other than the notified concession groups₹500
All women, SEBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwBD and ex-servicemen applicants covered by the notice₹400

Payment must be online, with applicable transaction charges in addition to the stated fee. The notification provides refund of the examination fee to candidates who actually appear in the examination through the paid mode. Merely submitting the form, downloading the hall ticket or being absent is not an attendance-based entitlement. If an application is cancelled, the published conditions do not promise a refund. A payment without a generated receipt should be investigated promptly before the separate payment deadline.

📝 Selection: why the preliminary score is not the final score

Stage 1: A common 150-question, 150-mark MCQ screening test in 120 minutes, with −0.25 mark per wrong answer. It serves to shortlist candidates separately for Group A and B. The preliminary marks do not count in the final selection list. There is additional time of 20 minutes per hour for eligible PwBD candidates as notified. Shortlisting for mains is based on category-wise competition at around seven times the vacancies for each group, subject to prescribed qualifying rules.

Stage 2, Group A: Three descriptive main papers: Gujarati Language (100), English Language (100), General Studies (150), each of three hours; 350 marks total. The published detailed outline includes language composition, formal writing and administration, followed by history, Gujarat heritage, politics, economy, public service ethics and more.

Stage 2, Group B: A 200-mark MCQ main examination of 120 minutes, with ten published content categories. Group-B candidates do not sit the Group-A three-paper descriptive main. The notice sets at least 40% qualifying standard for each stage and for every applicable main paper, for every category. This threshold is an eligibility floor and must not be presented as the actual last-selected cutoff.

Final stage: The Board prepares distinct Group-A and Group-B selections using main-exam marks, reservations, eligibility and verification. The notice says no waiting list will be prepared for this joint advertisement. No actual preliminary, main, admit-card or result release date is specified here.

Why Group A General Studies differs from Group B General Studies

The Group-A paper is descriptive: evidence has to be organised as written answers, with wording and length shaped by the question’s marks. The Group-B paper is objective: questions are assigned marks across ten specified areas, including government schemes and current events. Preparing entirely by multiple-choice drills is therefore insufficient for a Group-A candidate; preparing only long-form essays is not a direct match for Group B.

🖥️ OJAS application: confirmation and fee are two separate checks

Visit the official OJAS application website, navigate to online applications for GSSSB, and select Advertisement 468/202627. One-time registration alone is not an application to this recruitment. Complete the specific personal, educational, category and eligibility details, save the application, upload the instructed photo/signature, and perform the final confirmation. Record the confirmation number. Then make the specified payment before 2 December 2026, 23:59, obtain the fee receipt and retain the confirmed application. Enter details exactly as on certificates; after confirmation, requested changes to category and other material particulars may not be accepted. If more than one confirmed application is submitted, the notice has a specific rule about which confirmed and paid submission remains valid; do not assume an unpaid latest form replaces a paid one.

Keep the working mobile number, proof of qualification, school leaving/age certificate, category or non-creamy-layer/EWS certificates if claimed, disability/service proof if applicable, and the confirmed form and fee receipt. The authority names GSSSB as the place for later announcements; there is no advertised appointment date, exam venue or individual posting choice to promise.

Questions to resolve before the form closes

Are these 1,237 positions one kind of clerk job? No. Only Group B’s 994 seats are Junior Clerk; Group A has eight separate roles with different remuneration and departmental distributions.

Does passing 40% guarantee a place in the mains? No. Minimum qualification and the category-wise seven-times-vacancy screening rule are separate filters.

Can a Junior Clerk aspirant use the Group-A descriptive paper pattern? No. Group B has its own objective 200-mark mains. The preliminary test is common.

Do the ₹400 fees apply to every male applicant? No. The notice lists specified groups (including all women), while other unreserved applicants pay ₹500.

Is a five-year fixed payment a five-year temporary apprenticeship? No. The notice describes Class-III direct recruitment with Gujarat’s five-year fixed-pay conditions; it is not an apprenticeship scheme.

Read the original 38-page Gujarati advertisement before submission, especially the category-wise roster, medical/disability functional classifications, certificate dates and Appendices G–H detailing the mains. Use GSSSB and OJAS for the actual application and subsequent examination instructions.

Sub Registrar Grade-I (સબ રજિસ્ટ્રાર, ગ્રેડ-૧) — 6 positions in Group A

Advertised office: Inspector General of Registration, Revenue Department. Vertical seats: UR 4, EWS 0, SEBC 1, SC 0, ST 1, total 6. Fixed payment for the first five years: ₹49,600 per month.

This is the higher Sub Registrar grade in the Registration Inspectorate. The advertisement identifies the Revenue Department as the controlling department; it does not give a separate work-location roster or a distinct technical qualification beyond the common graduation standard.

Do not confuse Grade-I with Grade-II. Their vacancy numbers and five-year fixed monthly payments differ, although they follow the same Group-A descriptive main examination.

Check eligibility before choosing the cadre

A bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution or government-recognised equivalent, basic computer knowledge and adequate Gujarati or Hindi language knowledge are the shared conditions. The age test is 20–35 on 30 November 2026, with only the specific Gujarat category and other relaxation rules available to a qualified claimant. Written qualifications, certificates and reserved-category claims must agree with the form.

How this cadre is assessed

The common 150-mark preliminary screening is followed by the three descriptive Group-A main papers: Gujarati 100, English 100 and General Studies 150. Group-A candidates should prepare written responses, translation and structured analysis rather than treating the main examination as a 200-mark objective paper.

Reservation and what the numbers mean

The breakdown UR 4, EWS 0, SEBC 1, SC 0, ST 1 is a division of 6 positions; category-wise reserved seats should not be combined with women, former-serviceman or PwBD horizontal allocations as though those were additional vacancies. The original detailed matrix sets out the functional disability types considered suitable for each cadre and office.

Pay and appointment conditions

The notified ₹49,600 amount is a monthly fixed pay for the initial five years under the specified Gujarat Government terms. It is not a disclosed in-hand salary or a guaranteed regular scale immediately after that period. Any subsequent transition is subject to the conditions in the notice.

Application checkpoints

Confirm the correctly selected cadre under Advertisement 468/202627 on OJAS between 5 and 30 November 2026 (closing at 23:59). Payment closes on 2 December 2026 at 23:59. Keep the specific confirmed application and receipt; a saved form without final confirmation is not equivalent to a completed submission.

The Directorate of Tribal Development is the department named against this cadre. Tribal development law, service delivery and public administration are especially relevant contextual reading for an aspirant, though the advertisement prescribes the common Group-A General Studies syllabus rather than a separate tribal-officer subject paper.

Social Welfare Inspector (સમાજ કલ્યાણ નિરીક્ષક) — 89 positions in Group A

Advertised office: Directorate of Developing Castes Welfare. Vertical seats: UR 35, EWS 10, SEBC 23, SC 8, ST 13, total 89. Fixed payment for the first five years: ₹40,800 per month.

This is the largest Group-A cadre. The authority shown in the roster is the Directorate dealing with the welfare of developing communities. Public policy implementation, social protection and accountability are part of the advertised Group-A General Studies syllabus, not an independent Inspector technical paper.

A large role-wise seat count does not imply a separate preliminary examination: the same Group-A/Group-B combined screening test precedes the Group-A main examination.

The breakdown UR 35, EWS 10, SEBC 23, SC 8, ST 13 is a division of 89 positions; category-wise reserved seats should not be combined with women, former-serviceman or PwBD horizontal allocations as though those were additional vacancies. The original detailed matrix sets out the functional disability types considered suitable for each cadre and office.

Pay and appointment conditions

The notified ₹40,800 amount is a monthly fixed pay for the initial five years under the specified Gujarat Government terms. It is not a disclosed in-hand salary or a guaranteed regular scale immediately after that period. Any subsequent transition is subject to the conditions in the notice.

The notified authority is the Directorate of Prohibition and Excise. The notice specifies Group-A competition and the five-year fixed payment; it does not prescribe a stand-alone superintendent paper or enumerate individual responsibilities.

The seven seats are few, but their 40% qualifying minimum and descriptive Gujarati-English-General Studies assessment are identical in structure to the other Group-A cadres.

Check eligibility before choosing the cadre

The 51 places are distributed across six office-wise entries: Charity Commissioner 28, Transport Commissioner 5, Directorate of Forensic Science 6, Food and Drugs Control Administration 9, and two Panchayat-related entries of 1 and 2. These are one Senior Clerk cadre total, not six fresh advertisements.

Do not use the Junior Clerk Group-B main pattern for Senior Clerk. Senior Clerk is one of the eight Group-A cadres and requires the three-paper descriptive main.

Junior Clerk (જુનિયર ક્લાર્ક) — 994 positions in Group B

Advertised office: 18 named Gujarat Government departments and directorates. Vertical seats: UR 454, EWS 106, SEBC 241, SC 46, ST 147, total 994. Fixed payment for the first five years: ₹26,000 per month.

The 994 Junior Clerk seats appear under 18 departmental entries, not a single office. The largest office counts are Commissionerate of Schools (200), Transport Commissioner (160), and Cooperative Societies, Forest and Medical Education & Research (100 each). Separate department totals are useful for reading the roster, but do not establish district postings.

The Group-B main is a 200-mark objective paper. It is not the Group-A 350-mark Gujarati/English/General Studies descriptive examination.

The common 150-mark preliminary screening is followed by the 200-mark, 120-minute Group-B objective main. The separate Group-A Gujarati and English descriptive papers do not apply to this cadre.

Reservation and what the numbers mean

The breakdown UR 454, EWS 106, SEBC 241, SC 46, ST 147 is a division of 994 positions; category-wise reserved seats should not be combined with women, former-serviceman or PwBD horizontal allocations as though those were additional vacancies.
